For a while I wanted to write about it, but honestly so much of it is a hour that I don't think I could write a factual representation of my time in service. I wish I had kept diaries, but I have nothing close to the sort and the effort to pull together something has eluded me so far.
There is a rather good account of my battalion's deployment in The Silence of War: An Old Marine in a Young Marine's War. It focuses on a different company than I was in, but the experiences are very similar. I don't think it's perfect, but it was a very good example of what it was like for us. Quite a few of my friends make appearances in the book, and it made for a super surreal read.
