I would encourage you to step up and "go for it". Its a good stewardship of the gifts that God has given you. Doing the job well is Glory to Jesus. FWIW, if I was a doctor I would have a hard time staying out of poverty stricken areas all over the world. God bless you for doing what you do.
I found Justo Gonzalez's book, The Story that Luke Tells and the section on gender in it quite illuminating. I've known several women in lead pastor positions, all of whom were clearly doing the Lord's work and I would have been happy to be a member of their congregation.
