"It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of The New England Journal of Medicine"

> Reagan gutted both the EPA and the FDA as part of his “war on big government” and no one has ever restored their funding back to a level where they can be useful.
This is utter drivel. The FDA is broken due to corruption, not lack of funding. Giving a corrupt entity more money is insane. Here, read this book written by a doctor who was editor of The New England Journal of Medicine for 2 decades.
{I get all my books at my public library, so I recommend trying there first. As I always say: "FREE IS FOR ME."}

Thank you for sharing your opinion and beliefs. Real freethinkers read EVERYTHING, including research papers and books. Some might call it challenging, I suppose, because I agree that there are no shortcuts. Have a nice day.

here's a book from a former editor (Marcia Angell) of the NEJM that discusses her views on this topic.
If you are interested in the subject, take a look at The Truth About the Drug Companies by the former editor-in-chief of the New England Journal of Medicine... It will really piss you off.
Relevant to this announcement but I think also required reading for everyone: Who Owns the CDC?. And if anyone is too reverent to authority to accept such an argument from anyone other than an authority, here's someone who was editor of the New England Journal of Medicine - one of the most prestigious medical journals in the world - making the same argument 17 years ago: The Truth About the Drug Companies: How They Deceive Us and What to Do About It
>there’s no debate from people who actually know what they’re talking about.
u mean these 3 who were the editors in chief at the most well known medical journal in the country. as editior in chief, they are bombarded with studies, and are up to date on the business. Is it a coincidence they came out with similar books below. They do not say that vaccines is a farce but their M.O is to be very skeptical of the money that Big Harma has
The Truth about Drug Companies: How they deceive us and what to do about it by Dr Marcia Angell
On the Take: How medicine's complicity with Big Business can Endanger your Health by Dr. Jerome Kassirer,
A Second Opinion: REscuing America’s Healthcare by Dr. Arnold Relman

WHY DOES THE SYSTEM FAIL US?
Author of the most cited medical paper ever (“Why most published research findings are false”), John Ioannidis, summarizes the insidiousness of how the pharmaceutical industry permeates and distorts healthcare research, education, and practice:
“To serve its interests, the industry masterfully influences evidence base production, evidence synthesis, understanding of harms issues, cost-effectiveness evaluations, clinical practice guidelines and healthcare professional education and also exerts direct influences on professional decisions and health consumers.” https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/eci.12074
It's fairly common knowledge that pharma companies spend more of the money used to "develop" a new drug on the advertising of that drug than on the R&D.
Here's a pretty good book about it.
Because Oxy is backed by Big Pharma. Billions of dollars speak loudly.

>We need “the system” otherwise doctors wouldn’t have any time to practice medicine.
you need to understand how the system has failed us and will continue to fail us until a huge revolution happens.

I really hope you take the time to challenge your beliefs with facts and history from experts who challenge the status quo. Without them we would not know washing hands prevents babies from dying (ignaz semmelweis, md), that the sun is the center of the universe (galileo), that the world operates with strange quantum physics that we can't see, that smoking is bad, etc.
try to understand how the system has failed us and will continue to fail us until a huge revolution happens.

You dont know who Dr Peter Gotzsche is, do you? His book is extensively cited.
Here is another book on the subject, by a former editor of the NEJM.

In The Truth About Drug Companies, Marcia Angell showed that most novel drugs are not actually funded by corporations; rather, most are developed in universities and other government-funded institutions. The corporate research tends to be incremental changes to already-popular drugs, such as all the successors to Prilosec. These changes allow new patents to be filed without actually improving health in any significant way.
Try reading this book.
>I want to be a doctor to make a positive difference for the sick and injured
You're going to end up being a pawn for the pharmaceutical industry. Try reading this book sometime.
> Here's the thing about science. It's really hard. And almost all of it is definitely not perfect. But it's arguably the best current method we have ...
Here's the thing about freethinking: it's even harder, because you can never narrow your scope or limit your mind.

Literally the first study you posted is completely fake. Antivirals only work if they're administered within the first 48 hours, and that study is looking at hospitalized patients, i.e. people who have already had COVID for 2+ weeks. The only reason anyone would do a study with this methodology is if you were backed by a drug company that made a competing drug, and were trying to discredit the other one.
The second study didn't even look at whether or not people who got HCQ did better than those who didn't.
The third study used a massive dose of the drug. Drug companies that make competing drugs will fund studies like this, in order to make their competitors drugs look dangerous. And so on.
Drug companies do this kind of stuff all the time. In fact the editor-in-chief of NEJM, the journal where two of these studies were published, literally wrote an entire book about this: https://www.amazon.com/Truth-About-Drug-Companies-Deceive/dp/0375760946/
