Are you planning on drawing from life? I'm not an expert, but I've been doing a lot of Urban Sketching. If I'm drawing from life, and a 1 point perspective building, or an urban scene interests me, I'm not going to alter the perspective from what is in front of me. But the more vanishing points you add, the more "pop" your art will have. Even drawing chairs in 2PP will make them appear more dramatic. I'm a beginner artist myself, but I've been studying a lot on perspective lately. Take a look at this chair I drew to see how 2PP can really dramatize your subject.
A book I highly recommend for perspective. I've been reading a lot and the author of that book really breaks down perspective at a dummy level.
