VDI fits some very narrow workflows really well. It's never a cost-savings success though.
SDN seems a lot like ip sla's... With the tracking. Correct me If I'm wrong but they still aren't too popular. Also shouldn't we switch to ipv6 before we sdn the lan?
edit: fucking vm guys.... I was earnestly asking. Now I'll say this. VM is the newest buzzword in every market for CIO's to cut costs on one side and pad profits on the other. The Control plane is like a giant box of overhead and usually requires more boxes, boxes that need service plans and a replacement cycle. Rob Peter to pay Paul is what they used to say.
