Hey, I just want to link you this. I know some people may look at this and say its bullshit, but I think it is worth looking into at least. Its a dietary protocol which some people are seeming to have success self treating MS and other autoimmune conditions with.

Definitely not saying its a cureall or that it will be a panacea. But it is rrally worth looking into. I have an auto immune condition as well and have researched a lot on these subjects, and think there is a scientific case that can be made for dietary factors playing a significant role. There are a few studies I can link which show how that might work.
Just thought I'd link in case its of any help.

I would recommend working with a general docotor / specialist that uses traditional pharmaceuticals and interventions together with a naturopath that is also a qualified GP. This is your best bet to deal with it once and forever.
Surprising? Yes. However, it is not a death sentence. As you complete your transition from military to civilian life, find yourself a good VSO who can help you apply for and get all the benefits you're eligible for. This should help alleviate a bit of financial stress.
Additionally, it is important to keep your stress level low. It has been said that Epste
in-Barr virus is the culprit at the root of MS. I urge you to immerse yourself in the work of Anthony William. Additionally, get the book by Dr. Wahls. Many people have found relieve and success with it. http://www.amazon.com/Wahls-Protocol-Radical-Autoimmune-Conditions-ebook/dp/B00DMCJOW8/. Lastly, look into LDN. Get and read the LDN Books 1, 2 & 3 from Amazon. Many people with the same diagnosis have found great benefit.
Please keep us posted and let us know how you get on.
Best of luck to you!

Resistance training can actually benefit other forms of exercise like running/walking. Things like squats and kettlebell swings which really work out your lower body are great. You could easily just add on 10-15 minutes of squats, lunges, pushups prior to your walk/run.
BTW, my current diet uses the Wahls Protocol as it's base framework. Wahls is very focused on using a nutrient dense diet free of inflammatory foods to treat/manage autoimmune conditions, but it's really a super healthy approach to diet for nearly anyone. I like Wahls as it has a really simple framework to help get a wide variety of nutrient dense foods each day/week.
I've attributed the diet improvements to my health improvements: BP improvements, energy improvements, my Meniere's doesn't bother me any more and my allergies/asthma have gotten better. If you are curious you can check out the guide sheet and food tracker I created that uses Wahls and includes some AIP (AutoImmune Protocol) Paleo info which is similar to the Wahls Protocol. Note: the guide sheet doesn't mention Wahls due to trademark concerns but it's pretty much exactly the same guidelines.
