I hate to say this, but special ops self-select for psychopaths. They have traits that prove useful: fearless, self-confident, feel no remorse or empathy, among others. In other words, if you need a ruthless killer who won't think twice about a mission, use a psychopath. Unfortunately, other bad behaviors are the price paid for having them around. Actually, they are a problem within law enforcement, in general, and their relatively small number give departments bad names. (I won't even mention well-known psychopaths in politics.)

I read a very interesting book a few years ago
The Wisdom of Psychopaths: What Saints, Spies, and Serial Killers Can Teach Us About Success https://www.amazon.com/dp/0374533989/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_GGHETT72HDVEMNAJA381
I agree with the author. I think they are trapped in a triad of personality traits; extreme narcissism, lack of empathy, and violent tendencies often combined with high intelligence.
But the point is that their condition isn’t chosen. They didn’t chose their personality traits. So I don’t feel that anyone but God can judge their culpability. I am However a bit skeptical about their ability for rehabilitation.
I highly recommend the book "The Wisdom of Psychopaths"

That's the book. They asked a question along the lines of "what's the difference in this group of pictures?" And the difference wasn't the subject. The difference was the persons hand in all of the shots had six fingers, and for some reason psychopaths tend to notice those things more than others.
I would give a terrible synopsis because it has been a hot minute since I read this book, but essentially these people are the ones who run top performing businesses, or they are your doctor or lawyer. Psycopathy does not easily lend itself to empathy because a psychopath doesnt comrehend empathy the same way as someone who is not one. See, I told you, terrible, but:

The amazon link was just the easiest to find. I listen to the audio book which was read by the author. It is very informative and interesting. Only about a 8 hour read in total.
Really?
Are you going to tell me you will purchase this book and read it? Or do you want to use the summary used in the Wiki?
This book explains your point brilliantly:

There is a book on this topic called The Wisdom of Psychopaths by Kevin Dutton.

Sure no problemo. Someone wrote a whole book on the subject.
I don't think so. This is an established concept from the perception of evolutionary psychology. You should read The Wisdom of Psychopaths by Kevin Dutton.
I mean, he is a CEO and successful businessman (debatable).
You don't get to that level without having sociopathic tendencies.
some great books on this are The Wisdom of Psychopaths and The Sociopath Next Door

In the US that age of consent was elevated to either 16 or 18 in ALL US STATES, back in the 1970's.
This took place in the US. You should maybe actually read the article and see that there are several facts listed therein.
The authors name is listed in the original article, is a pseudonym, for obvious reasons.

Edit - updated to reflect pseudonym rather than real name.
I lived in Boston while it was being discovered that almost 20% of the priests were actively molesting kids.
We had new horror stories every week for years.
Here's a little party trick for you:
Do a google search on
"Catholic priests molest children"
And add the name of any country there is catholic presence in.
Then look at the numbers.
Have fun.
When I was attending seminary, (Wesleyan, not Catholic) I noticed a lot of sociopaths applying to be candidates.
(pro-tip- most notable attribute of sociopaths is charm. )

Lmao, for all y'all that think I'm too "extreme":
Read a fucking book once in a while.
I ain't the first to see this shit for what it is.
Whoever has ears, let him hear.
There's a whole book devoted to the general idea: http://www.amazon.com/The-Wisdom-Psychopaths-Killers-Success/dp/0374533989
Gives some good insight into it. Essentially, it can be good to have some dials turned up, but, if all are at max, obviously, it can be bad.
