It's not exactly what you described, but there's a series of products called Thermacell. These portable devices are primarily intended to repel mosquitoes, but they also reportedly repel wasps too. Here's a link to one of their products on Amazon:

Also, get a Bite Away and a Bug Bite Thing for when you do get bit.

I got a few of these bug repellant diffusers they work pretty well if you put like 3 all around your area.

Unfortunately however the only times I ever practice outside and get zero bites is if I also spray my clothes with something that includes deet (this is one of the strongest)
