A fully vacuum insulated bottle is your best bet. The kind that have two caps like this one (just an example, not an endorsement) will keep it acceptably hot from morning to evening. If your priority is convenience over heat, then you can get the ones with single caps like Hydro Flasks, but they will lose heat about twice as fast as the ones with double caps.
I agree with the comments here. (I know I could just upvote, but giving experiences might hammer home that this is the absolute answer)
Preheat the Zoji with hot water while you're making the coffee. Dump that and then fill it all the way up with fresh coffee to the top. Put the lid on. It will stay too hot to drink for hours and hours if you leave the lid closed.
A thermos brand double wall would also work, but the Zoji can also be a travel mug, so it's like win win. But just in case she already has a mug she loves, here's a thermos that will also work.
I drink insane amounts of coffee and this thermos keeps it hot for 4-5 hours, has never opened or dumped in my purse/backpack during four years of hangover induced carelessness during college. you can open it after an hour and your drink will still be steaming. one time i thought i lost it and i cried. truly the ride or die thermos of a lifetime.
You are lucky, this is a very common one. Thermos have many compatible lids, not sure but I think this one can work too even when the mug is 16oz: www.amazon.com/dp/B0017IHRNC
I really tell you, is a standard in the market, even one of our models use it, same screw and diameter, different design. I didn't see any replacement available in Amazon, not sure if Walmart sells them.
Well a 16oz Thermos Stainless King Vacuum-Insulated Compact Bottle Thermos Stainless King Vacuum-Insulated Compact Bottle costs just about the same as a standard 16oz Hydro Flask. Currently the Thermos is on sale for about $2 less. Both are under $30, not everyone goes all out on the more expensive Hydro Flasks or Thermos brand bottles. Thermos is actually relatively new to the insulated water bottle game. Hydro Flask has way more colors, sizes, and styles because they really only make stainless steel insulated water bottles and were the first company to specialize in that. ~Yes, Hydro Flask is generally more expensive than Thermos brand bottles outside of this particular example.~
So it really just comes down to personal preference. In this case, do I want a handle on the lid or do I want a lid that can also be a cup? Am I mostly going to use this for cold liquids (lid with handle) or hot things that may or may not be food (lid that can be a cup)? How will I be using this bottle? Just to take to work? For camping? For hiking? For rock climbing? Etc.
But I feel like when you say Thermos, you’re thinking of one of those plastic ones for camping. In which case, yes, I would 100% choose the Hydro Flask for day to day life and outdoor activities but would possibly also bring that type of Thermos if I was camping and wanted to keep coffee or soup hot and had a backpack I could put it in.
TL;DR “For maximum temperature control, ease of use, and for those where style is important, go with a Hydro Flask bottle. If you prefer minimalistic designs and don’t want to spend more than $30 on a water bottle, Thermos is a great choice.” -alloutdoorsguide.com comparison
get this. ive been to Termos' building in Schaumburg, no halfassery there
