Sounds like you should ignore that book, mate. Here’s a replacement: Thoughts for Young Men by JC Ryle. It’s short, written more than a hundred years ago, but still relevant.
Being masculine has nothing to do with growing a beard (despite what Greg says, looool). It’s about being Christ-like and seeking the Lord. I know 1 Timothy 3 is about overseers, but if you aim for those qualities, you’ll be a biblical man. You’ll notice it says nothing about sports, woodworking, or any other “manly” pursuits.
