I upgraded those first to the T-LCMs when I was using my T300 and they've been fun for me. I'm still on a slightly modified wheel stand, so not incredibly sturdy, but gets by.
Depending on your budget:
1.) T-LCM: $230
2.) Simforge Mark 1: $430 (w/clutch) or $300 (w/o clutch) + shipping
3.) Heusinkveld Sprints: $610 + $50.00

I just name dropped a few, didn't really go into any details. I'm sure there's plenty of more reliable sources than me, but these 4 should get you started. Be aware that some of the above may need a separately sold base plate if you need it.
That's what it says on the Amazon page.

Ah, yes, those pedals will hold you back as you get into more into sim racing games. Cheaper (potentiometer) pedals translate pedal position into braking force, while load cell pedals translate pedal force into braking force.
One option is to use a load cell kit like this: https://www.ricmotech.com/load-cell-upgrade-kit-logitech-pedals
However, $100 more will get you some pretty good load cell pedals: https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-T-LCM-Pedals-PC-PS4-XOne/dp/B083MNB4D8
Also in stock at Amazon currently. Got mine this week, what an upgrade from Logitech pedals.

The Amazon T300’s are just more expensive due to inflation and scarcity. The differences are the T300 RS GT and T300 Ferrari Integral have the T3PA 3 pedal setup for having a clutch, unlike the cheaper T300 RS with 2 pedals. The Ferrari has a nicer wheel with alcantara suede but yeah it’s just looks.
Preowned is the way you get it for the previously normal prices.
The way I see it your two best options are:
one of the two I listed above with the T3PA standard 3 pedal set (the T300 RS GT or T300 Ferrari Integral), and he can look up brake modifications to increase the stiffness such as the conical brake mod.
The cheapest of the 3 (T300 RS with the 2 pedal setup) and these TLCM pedals which are widely considered to be a giant upgrade over the standard T3PA ones. The 2 pedals the wheel comes with would not be used. Again it’s great that you’re looking into his interests. If. All 3 of those Amazon T300s are great.
To keep things simple I would probably just order this one before it goes out of stock and not worry about the other brakes: Thrustmaster T300 RS - Gran Turismo Edition Racing Wheel (PS5,PS4,PC) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M1L2NRL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_TN1ZRDD7AC9HJJ78CG43
