Good morning. I purchased an iVANKY Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adaptor. I’ve purchased this brand before and had no issues. Same with this one. Here’s the link:
What’s your daughter’s setup like? Is the adaptor plugging directly into the computer or into a dock?
You can do that with a Display Port to HDMI adapter.
Looks like you have thunderbolt. Look at the Amazon image. Does the smaller end look like what's on your laptop? Like it should plug into that?
It supports two external displays at 2560x1600 over Thunderbolt.
Or one 2560x1600 over Thunderbolt and another one over HDMI (up to 4k, but only at 24Hz, a lower res screen will get a higher refresh rate).
So one over HDMI and another one over Thunderbolt (or Mini DisplayPort, same plug). I've had very good experiences with this adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N6M2VN4
It's max 1080p. If your screen is higher res you need another one.
You can either get a mini display port to hdmi cable or a mini display port to hdmi adapter. They're fairly small and don't have a chip of any sort. Because of this, laptop usually don't have both ports. (Except maybe the one in the banner...) What is the reason you need both ports for work?
oh sorry i thought you were on a macbook with a mac mini profile, you can try this but i dont know if it will work, it could just be the hdmi port or cable
^ Here's link for ya
since your laptop doesn't have hdmi you'll have to buy an adapter like this one Link (search for displayport to HDMI to find more) in order to convert it to HDMI. Then you'll need HDMI to RCA converter to convert it into analogue for the TV something like this Link. This combo should allow you to connect your laptop to your TV. As for sound delay I don't think that will be an issue and IF it was an issue you could always just plug headphones into your laptop, however i think the sound will work through the TV.
