Hope you can figure it out from counting.
I forget if I have taken meds a lot. I find it really helpful to use a medication timer cap like this (link is just an example, doesn't need to be that specific one).
The only thing is, when you split a pill, if you keep the second half out of the bottle, you will have to remember to open and close the bottle to mark whenever you take it.
You could also use some kind of app. I didn't really like the medication apps I have tried, but for once a day pills like vitamins a habit tracker app where I simply mark it off for the day has been working pretty well for me. It is a whole other step to put it in my phone though so discipline is required to do it immediately so you don't forget. So I still use the timer cap on my important meds, because knowing myself I can forget I took something before I get to my phone.
Welcome to my life, lol. I think you'll be okay skipping it today. But buy this right now:
Forgetting whether or not I took my meds was the #1 reason I missed doses. This tells you how long it's been since you opened the bottle. There's lots of different versions so please feel free to shop around if you want to find a better price, but I can't recommend this enough. Order immediately.
I had the same problem and then I ordered these pill bottle timer tops. They’re not available on Amazon right now but they have been really convenient. Takes the guess work out completely. Also, they fit on my standard pill bottles so it’s really convenient. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ECK8KFG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_3H87GQF2CVM6RFVJREQG
Another suggestion I have is to buy a pill bottle with a timer that shows how long it's been since it was opened. Like this. That way she knows if she's opened it for the latest meal, and she can grab the number of enzymes she thinks she needs for the meal size she is eating.
If it's something you need regularly might I recommend this product? I used it when I was trying to juggle multiple meds in different schedules. My med schedule has since simplified and I usually don't carry a whole pill bottle with me anymore, so I don't use it, but it was really helpful at the time. Now if I need to remember when I took a med I take a picture of the bottle with my phone so I have a time stamped photo. It's easier for me to do than write down. I can convince myself I don't actually need to write it down because I'll remember it, but taking a pic is easy.
You can get pill bottles that tell you how long it's been since you've last taken medication. You can also buy just the caps at CVS, which is what I did. They're a lifesaver.
So there are these bottle cap timers that were a godsend for me. I’d check it and go “yup, it’s only been closed for an hour, so I’ve taken the med”.
I bought mine three years ago so they’ve changed since then, but this is the listing I got when I went through my purchase history: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ECK8KFG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_s7QhBbS7AA354
(On mobile, so sorry if something’s formatted funky)
You could also try taking your meds with you whenever you leave the house, putting your meds in bottles with timer lids so you will be able to see when it was last opened, and/or getting something to lock them up in (a lock box with a good lock, or putting a lock on a cabinet or drawer to keep them in). Also, it might help you feel less anxious about leaving the house if you have a way to lock up anything particularly valuable (jewelry, important documents, etc.), confidential, or potentially embarrassing (like sex toys).
This is something that really helped me with timing meds. It sets a timer for 24hrs / 12hrs / 8hrs etc from the time you open it that way you can visibly see when it's time to take whichever

I have an alarm that goes off an hour before I'm supposed to be up for the day so I can take my meds and wake with them working. Most of the time, I remember if I took them when the alarm went off. But a few times I had to play the 'do I feel like my meds are working' game. So I bought these and its come in handy a lot http://www.amazon.com/Timer-Caps-Large-Vials-Easy-/dp/B00ECK8KFG/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1459370759&sr=8-1&keywords=timer+caps
I totally forgot about those! Yeah, that's definitely a seniors product.
I use these bottle caps with timers now instead. I always pick up the bottle and then 10 minutes later I think "did I actually take the pill or not?" It counts UP from the last time you opened the bottle, so it says "last opened 10 minutes ago".

Even OP in your link admitted is was from somewhere else.
This is where you can get them. It's the first amazon link I could find. https://www.amazon.com/TimerCaps-Large-Vials-Qty-Automatically/dp/B00ECK8KFG
Sounds like you need what I finally bought just this year [because of similar incidents in my life] . You can get it on Amazon too --for great prices!

My wife uses the ones below and they made a big difference. They are a bit on the large size, but there are probably similar ones out there that work the same.
If there's absolutely any way you can avoid doing either, that would be ideal. Since you're still figuring out your dose, if there's a lot of inconsistency it's going to be impossible to figure out if the meds are working, if they're causing side effects, or if it's just your irregular schedule.
Some ideas (feel free to ignore the ones you've already tried):
Yes, pill box, or a timer top for meds. It starts a timer every time you open the bottle so you know how long ago you took your meds last.
Interesting idea! Another option that may be more consistent and not require your phone is to use some bottle lids like these: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00ECK8KFG/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_Y12PXP2FS00JVQ8B0MT2
You might want to get one of these.
Not to be that person, but this isn't really a perfect solution since the problem is with your memory (y'know, having to remember if you've taken the pills), and all this does is add extra steps by requiring you to remember to flip the bottle over when you're done, and then you have to remember to flip it back over before you to go bed.
I don't have one of these yet personally (I'm planning on getting one at some point though), but I've heard good things about these timer cap bottles! They'll display how long it's been since you've last opened the bottle, which is great since you won't have to do anything extra to remember when you last opened it. It'll just say it on the top of the bottle.
If you don't want to pay for the Timer Cap Bottles, this is definitely something you can try since it probably will help some folks. But if you're willing to pay a little bit of money, the Timer Cap Bottles will probably be more convenient of a solution to the whole "Did I remember to take my pills today?" problem.
TL;DR: This solution may not be for everyone, so here is an Amazon link to a bottle with a Timer on the Cap that tells you when you last opened the bottle. It will require much less steps for those who struggle with remembering and keeping routines.
There's this thing I saw on a TikTok the other day that might help you. There's a cap for your pill bottle that shows how long it's been since the bottle was opened. It may ease the anxiety of not knowing if you took today's medicines. https://www.amazon.ca/TimerCap-Automatically-Displays-Opened-Built/dp/B00ECK8KFG
Good luck to you!

These things are cheap and can save lives.
I also recommend these or similar cap timers https://www.amazon.com/TimerCap-Stopwatch-Medication-Reminder-Mail-Order/dp/B00ECK8KFG
Something like this might help you out if you're ever unsure. They have caps for different styles.
I hear that my friend. These might help.

I got this. Absolutely necessary for me because I take IR so not only will I forget if I took it, but I will forget when even if I remember I did. lol
It's likely infected or something if it's causing you that much trouble. Go to the dentist. Be upfront about your abuse history. Tell them you do except to be treated humanely and have a plan to take painkillers as prescribed. For instance, with my spinal surgery back in September, I used these timer caps, to take my meds as prescribed. It helped a lot.
