I just graduated from high school and I wanted to get myself a small watch reminiscent of those generic clocks they have in all the classrooms. The Timex Easy Reader was the cheapest and classiest looking option.
It's exactly as the name describes, an easy reader. The dial is a very light silver which I'd rather be plain white but oh well. Day-date is a nice touch. Indiglo is also nice. It's just a nice little 35 mm watch. I also put a new strap on it if anybody was wondering.

A cheap Timex that I got on Amazon. Based on my hourly billing rate, I take shits that cost more than my watch.
I would have thought something with black text on a white face, and big Arabic numerals. A Timex Easy Reader for instance.
If your dad is into very classic looking watches, I would highly recommend a Timex Easy Reader.
Not sure which model Easy Reader you have, but they make one that looks a lot like the clocks at the schools I went to
I had a weekender too and ended up getting rid of it for the same reason. I ended up with this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000B55AEA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's a lot quieter and the day/date is nice. I ended up stealing the nylon strap from the weekender.
I've got the same one, it's a Timex purchased at Target for like $35.
dude. thank you so much! this helped out a LOT. was actually gonna buy that weekender exactly because i figured it had the leather strap already with it. thanks for the info
EDIT: sorry a lot of questions. think the easy reader would be a good buy? preferably this I know it's a bit smaller than the weekender but I has a white face and dark brown leather strap already. plus it's below 30 bucks. i might just pick this one up
The real pro tip. I have small wrists and if I bought any old men's watch I saw, it would typically be ginormous on me. My forearms are beefier these days after years of deadlifting, but my wrists have stayed the same. Slim watches are the way to go. My everyday watch is the Timex Easy Reader and it's 35mm. For a dress watch I would go even more minimal, or wear none at all. Something like this is similar to what I have, which is a black leather Bulova watch. Amazon has a lot of watches and you can filter by case diameter in search.
You can never go wrong with a Timex Weekender or EasyReader. Those two are the most recommended on here, and you can probably find them cheap on Amazon. However, you would probably have better and more in-depth advice over at /r/watches.

I wore an easy reader for a long time, the strap will need changing pretty soon and some of the plating has come off but it's still a really solid watch for $35. And it saves the most for the Nomos :)
Everyone should have a good watch. It's useful in clinical situations and just a nice fashion accessory.
You can get good watches under $50 too. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000B55AEA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_DKaZFbVWCAWEZ
So I have money burning a hole in my pocket (but not really) and recently been window shopping watches. Previously I've worn a Timex Easy Reader, Seiko 5, and Fossil Grant Chronograph.
I really like how the second hand sweeps with a mechanical watch. But I dislike that they gain or lose time and have to be re-set every few days. At least, that's what I was experiencing with the Seiko.
I like the timekeeping accuracy of quartz movements, but don't like that the second hand ticks over once per second.
So I was perusing the brand guides and came across the Bulova Precisionist line, that ticks over 16 times per second, and it has a quartz movement. I think this type of movement is exactly what I'm looking for. However... all of the watches, save for a select few, seem to be incredibly overstyled.
What do you guys think of the following? Clean design. Is this a good price? It's going for $210+ on Bulova's website (with a sale).
I really like the design of the Omega Seamaster, and the Spring Drive movements of the Grand Seikos. Unfortunately there's no way I can afford those.
Timex easy reader. $30, classic look, works with anything, not flashy. It's a working man's watch.
Though I really have a hard on for this Timex Weekender.
I think it's beautiful, and still simple and classic. I Like the solid leather band, and I love the color of it. The slightly offwhite dial against the bright silver just makes it....a really nice, but rugged looking watch.
Been meaning to get one a while now but it's hard to justify shit like watches when you have 2 kids.
Hey all. What's the general consensus on Swiss Army watches? I'm looking at this one and love the style. But I'm not sure if:
In general, what should I be looking for in a watch? I'm super interested in low-key leather band watches that can be work in the office, or at a formal event. I currently have a very inexpensive Timex -- so yeah, I'm a noob.
What are you guys' opinions on this Timex Easy Reader? Timex Men's Easy Reader Brown Leather Watch - T20041 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000B55AEA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_loKSzbV8VHJQP
Any of one, two, three, four for a casual daily watch, like with jeans/shorts and tee? I will wear them to work as well, but dress code is casual so yeah. I have really small wrist (about 45mm width) and metal bracelet feel massive and heavy on my wrist, so I guess have to do with leather or nylon. Not sure if the nylon strap look too childish or look out of place with the rest of the outfit though :(
Sanrenmu 7010 $5, now $7
As a student I was looking for a knife and light that were solid, cheap, and lightweight. I think I've found the right balance with the above setup. That they all match was a bonus.
That'll be a pretty tight price point for something "cool". As far as sizing, look in the watch description for the case size. 40mm or smaller will work fine on a small wrist. From there, I'd go to Amazon and search Men's Timex Watch -- that's one of two companies who make decent watches in the $20 range. The other is Casio but they tend to make bigger watchs that might be too large for your wrist.
Something like https://www.amazon.com/Timex%C2%AE-Reader-Brown-Leather-T20041/dp/B000B55AEA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1473330695&sr=8-1&keywords=men%27s+timex+watch will be a classy looking every day option and it's well sized for your wrist. If you want a digital readout, you could go with something like https://www.amazon.com/Timex-T78677-Classic-Gold-Tone-Expansion/dp/B000SQM5PE/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1473330695&sr=8-11&keywords=men%27s+timex+watch for a retro look, or something like https://www.amazon.com/Timex-T5E901-Ironman-Watch-Black/dp/B000AYTYLW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1473330695&sr=8-4&keywords=men%27s+timex+watch for more features.
Almost a year ago I made a post about how “working man’s” watches need to be recognized too. I posted the super beat up watch I wore to rock climb and it got a surprising amount of love. The next guy up to the task is nothing but a Timex Easy Reader with a black nylon NATO strap, and has been nothing short of reliable, functional, and even fashionable when necessary. Every feature on the watch, even down to the strap does not go without a use.
When in the midst of time-sensitive and sometimes dangerous activities like rock climbing, checking the time needs to be as fluid and easy as possible. The watch itself also needs to be inexpensive, lightweight, and durable. You may think this is a tall order, but surprisingly, Timex’s lower end watches fit the bill. This is why I chose the Weekender last time, and it’s why the Easy Reader has proved itself an amazing next choice. The giant digits prove its namesake and the bright red second hand provides nothing but reading clarity. The lightweight case and durable nylon strap allow me to climb with confidence and efficiency, as if the watch weren’t even there. The day/date feature is the cherry on top, making this thing a virutal wrist-calendar without sacrificing simplicity and legibility.
Oftentimes when I am out on a climbing trip I like to find a place to swim as well. Naturally, Timexes are freaking cockroaches, and the “WR 30M” label need fool no-one. This thing is straight up waterproof up to at least ten feet. And when camping, I make frequent use of the indiglo feature, as I hammock camp and there is nothing more frustrating than trying to reach for your phone in pitch darkness while stuffed in an Eno.
I’ve even worn the watch “out on the town” and have still gotten compliments on its understated and universally applicable design characteristics. In terms of fashion, this watch is a chameleon. It compliments anything I wear it with.
If you are an outdoorsman/woman but don’t like the gaudier sports watch options marketed to the outdoors, trust in the basics. They’ll do the job just as well without making you look like there’s a Squirtle strapped to your wrist.
The first watch I ever had was when I was in 5th grade. At the time our teacher wanted us to learn how to tell time. When my grandpa found out about the assignment he bought me a timex similar to this one(The actual model he got me was probably a little smaller but I remember it had arabic numerals, and the minute markers above the hour indices so it was easy to read).
In terms of you're inquiry I'd recommend a This Orient
Eu entendi, estava a brincar :P

Recomendo Timex's a toda a gente, preço muito bom pela qualidade e relógios bastante elegantes
i have that breda, DO NOT BUY IT.
its a piece of crap, its like 4 feet thick, and ticks like a grandfather clock. i bought it so i could get hammered and break it and not care.
check out this
or this
you might like some of the Timex watches, these two are my favorite
i've gotten a lot of compliments on the 2nd one (which i own). the only problem i find with it is the the band is kinda wonky, but it's nothing i'd worry about. for the first few weeks i thought it was a lot more fragile than it was, but i found that the trick was to just have it 1 notch less than too tight, so that it fit on but it had room to move as well.
the band problem is remedied by the 1st one, but imo the band looks sexier on the 2nd.
timex is really one of my favorite watch companies because they have a lot of watches with the aesthetic i like.
if you want, i can post a picture of what the watch looks like on my wrist. i have very small wrists too and the fact that i found one that i love surprised me.

Thanks for all the links! I've narrowed it down to one of these:
I'll probably go with the first one, it has a simpler feel about it.
Thanks!
I was shopping for watches this morning!
I think I'm going to get the Timex Easy Reader because of its simple design and clean lines. Plus, it's sub-$30.
However, I'm also drooling over this Kate Spade watch that I can in no way afford.
EDIT: Also, it looks like the timex watch is brass, not nickel.
Thanks for the kind comment!
Timex Easy Reader with a Navy Band
Cheap, simple looking watch. I have 3 of the same with different faces/straps that I interchange.
yet another reason why you should just read the comment below this one...
EDIT: What in the FUCK is happening to all my comments!? This is what was supposed to be displayed below, copied word for word.
I was in need of a brown leather-strapped watch (and by need, I mean I just wanted one pretty bad) so did some reading up on this one. It's a Timex Easy Reader that I purchased here. I considered the Timex Weekender after reading a GQ article on it, but I wanted a leather strapped watch so I went with this.
I'm very happy with it, especially for the price. It is really clean and didn't expect this sort of quality from Timex.
