These are still all cheaper on Amazon.
The current one I own:
I always heard this saying and my first watch I purchased was a Timex Expedition Chronograph.
And holy jesus is that true. That watch has taken one hell of a beating. I bought a Seiko SNE331 to replace my Timex as my hiking watch and it has all kinds of issues, and Seiko has been less than helpful getting it repaired properly.
So I've had the Timex expedition chronograph for over a year now and the strap looks pretty bad now, so I want to get a new one and am looking for recommendations :)
This is the watch: [link]
What straps would you suggest buying and where from?
I though about picking up two NATO straps, one leather and one material, what's your opinion?
I'm trying to find a balance between decent quality but not spending a ton because, like I said, I don't normally wear a watch and I don't want to be out a ton if I find it doesn't suit me. That being said, if I could find something around $150 (USD) that would be ideal. I was looking at this Timex but would prefer something in silver rather than black.
You just missed the black friday / cyber monday sale, but what do you think about this? [link]
Not my taste but a couple of my friends have it and love it.
What's the watch from the thumbnail?
edit: got it Timex Men's T499059J Expedition Field Chronograph Watch
I just bought this watch last night: [link]
Im about to purchase a strap, but not sure whether I need a 2 or 1 piece strap. BTW I bought a strap from you before: Excellent quality! I think the only thing I would probably recommend is adding the option for 2 floaters on the strap to keep it from sticking out. Otherwise, great material.
I was able to get a price adjustment on the
Timex Expedition that popped up here about a week ago - I bought it for $39.05 but it's $28.48 with this promo.
Amazon chat was super helpful - refunded me back $10.57 because it was just past 7 days since delivery - YMMV!
I mistyped it, I meant the Expedition product range
It looks identical to mine(which I found via this sub) which is a Timex Expedition. The watch is great, but the strap on mine started to fall apart after a couple of weeks. I would recomend the watch, get a new strap.
This deal goes live in 5 minutes and I guarantee you I am going to pick one up. I picked up this Timex last time it was linked on this site for $40 because I was looking at the exact same watch that OP linked thinking it was too much for a similarly styled watch. Wasn't too happy with my compromise so I'm glad I get the rare opportunity to correct my mistake.
EDIT: Deal is live and it is going for 76.90, 81.71 with tax. According to the bot thats a new low!
I fell in love with the look of this Timex Expedition Field Chronograph. But I own a Fossil of equal thickness (12mm) and I find it to be a little too tall on my wrist. Any suggestions on something similar-looking, thinner, and not too pricey?
I might just slip and buy it anyway cause it's perty.
Thanks for being cool, peeps, I've been learning a lot from you all lately!
[link] This is the Chrono I bought to use at work. It does just fine. Also I do recommend you get one of the SNKs at some point. Great value and a great watch.
Take a look at the Timex Expedition!
Other than that, you really can't go wrong with any Timex or Seiko. Fossil is a fashion brand, I'm pretty sure they just use the cheapest movements they can find and concentrate on the watch's appearance. If you like the look of them though, then go for it :D
What size strap for a Timex Expedition Chrono?
Amazon say 42mm band width, I know that ain't right.
Anyone want to show off how their strap has aged?
A review by Some Guy says that
>-The infamous Timex "ticks so loud you can hear it across the room at night" issue is completely absent from this watch. It's very quiet.
It is a good bit thicker than I imagined it would be from the picture alone on amazon. Check out the 360 or customer photographs on amazon.
Since you're in the ChineseWatches subreddit, this may not be what you're looking for, but I picked up this Timex Expedition Field Chronograph three years ago, and it's been a great addition to the collection.
It's a field-style, and certainly not as shiny as the Pagani Daytona, which I also own, but something to consider.
Are you taking about wrist watches or a stopwatch you can wear around your neck?
If wrist watches I have some recommendations (I’m into wristwatches myself so sorry if I get a bit too excited). What is your budget?
I like to wear chronograph watches while I’m working directly with clients. That way I can start timing something right from my wrist and stop it with the same ease. All of our RBTs have tablets for data entry but a lot of the time (especially during bx) I find this to be faster.
Anyway depending on what you would like to spend there are a few options.
If you want a digital watch I would recommend any of the Casio G-Shocks. They are rugged, will take a beating and have a stopwatch function, most of them with lap/split time functions. They come in a huge range of both prices and features but they’re all great.
If analogue is your style (mine is) then I have a few recommendations. I was wearing the Timex Expedition Field Chronograph for a while. It’s a great watch for the price (about $40 or so) but it has a brass case and will get dented, as well as having a more scratch prone crystal. Currently I wear a Citizen Avion Chronograph , which is stainless steel and solar powered (so you don’t have to fiddle with a battery change every two years). It’s a bit pricey if you’re not into watches, about $140, and although it has a stainless steel case it’s crystal is not as scratch resistant as more expensive watches will be. I also sometimes wear a Seiko SSC031 which also has a chronograph but is a bit pricey (it’s a dive watch).
Of course you don’t need any of those. A cheap $10 watch or a $5 stopwatch will do the trick. I just like watches.
I really, really like the aesthetics of the black/brown chronograph. I've been thinking about buying one for quite some time. But I don't wear watches that often.
It's a beauty. Is the only difference the strap color?
Timex Expedition Field with brown leather strap or green nylon strap?:
Check out different Timex watches, they have a lot of outdoor designed ones. The one that I find looking closest to OP's one is this.
Bought one just a month or two back
This'n, and I love it!
So does this Timex
how do you like this one?
A watch. One of the few true 'deals' I've seen on Black Friday / Cyber Monday is for Timex watches on Amazon. Last year, I purchased the Expedition Chronograph for <$25. You can also opt for a Timex Weekender or a Seiko like this one.
Selling a Timex Expedition Chrono, BNIB. Bought an extra as a gift but they didn't want it lol. Looking for $35 shipped.
Timex Men's T499059J Expedition Field Chronograph Watch [link]
And really like the size and look, might go with a lighter brown if I had to redo the order though.
Just an FYI, the Black with white digits is selling for less new on Amazon.
If you'd like to save $750 with a little extra character
Which one? I just bought this one here. Maybe they restocked.
Amazon's is $42 with 50% off. ($21 shipped)
Use Promo Code TIMEXGIFT
Amazon is 21.42 with code TIMEXGIFT
ugh Canadians are getting shafted on this great deal :( Link
I'm interested. I'd put it on my Timex Men's T499059J Expedition Field Chronograph Watch that got insanely popular for a while over at FMF.
In other words, a lot of ppl in your target audience own this exact watch, and will be able to see how it looks with your strap. Just saying.
That looks a lot like the Expedition Field Chrono but with a better leather strap, no small seconds dial, and different indices. If budget is a consideration you could just opt for the Expedition, it's a great watch for the price.
You could also look at the Timex Weekender (even cheaper!) if you want a simpler face, or look at a Seiko 5 if you want an automatic.
The other thing to think about is the Orient Mako / Ray for a pretty stellar and dressy automatic diver that should still be within your budget. I linked a rubber strap version but you can get it on a bracelet for a bit more, or just order a NATO or leather strap for it separately.
Thanks for this tip! I've been eyeing the Timex Expedition Field Chronograph for awhile, but do not need to spend money on another watch. For less than $25 though, I pulled the trigger. I also picked up a Timex Expedition Shock Digital for my dad. He does a lot of handyman work around our property and garage so I figure he can wear this watch and bang it around with no worries.
Which color combination is best for an everyday wear for a college student? I'm look particularly at [link]
I currently have [link]
Since you're looking at quartz, also check out:
Timex Weekender Oversized. Note that these watches will likely be cheaper at a place like Amazon.
Other Timex Expedition watches, like the Expedition Field Chronograph.
Since you're looking at Casio, how about an inexpensive solar one? The battery will last longer, assuming your friend lets the watch have enough light (long-sleeve shirts might be a problem with this watch, if the shirts are worn constantly).
Most watches styled after ww2 pilots are BIG, like 47 mm. Specially the ones that are as close to the originals as possible. It doesn't sound like you are looking for that. And under $100 often means quartz or potato quality or obscure seller. Here are some links i had of cheap pilots, not sure if any of this is going to be durable. Only the Tisell and Aeromatic look a bit classic.
Looking to get a NATO for a black Timex I bought recently, can't decide between the following straps:
1. Regimental with the shiny polished hardware
2. Premium with the shiny polished hardware (heavier nylon and sewn in hardware for extra durability)
3. PVD premium
4. Brushed premium
I'm kind of leaning between the PVD and brushed premium but I've never owned a nylon NATO before so unsure how much the difference really makes
Opinions are much appreciated!
I'm a big fan of Timex's like this.
Hi OP, what size should I get to go with my Timex Expedition? [link]
It's going to last for a long time. Definitely worth it. Amazon Canada and Amazon UK for those interested.
^That's ^why ^I'm ^here, ^I ^don't ^judge ^you. ^PM ^/u/xl0 ^if ^I'm ^causing ^any ^trouble. ^WUT?
You can order these with the promo code again, but they have a 1-2 day delay.
I am always more on the cheap side of style.
I am thinking of getting this watch.
I also am thinking of getting these boots.
Seiko 5 is the only mechanical option here, but I'll skip hyperlinks because others already mentioned Seiko 5.
Here are my top quartz choices that you should consider:
Timex analog - Family of weekender, easy reader, expedition, etc. My vote goes to expedition:
Digital watches - G shock is my favorite. It looks quite manly in person, and its functionality for an active high school student would be perfect.
Casio analog - Edifice, MDV (diver), MTP (dressy), and others. I suggest the Edifice:
There's no reviews and there's no other pictures other than the two that's on there. Take for example this posting for another timex watch. Do you think it's a safe buy?
