I have a Titan safe with a simplex lock. Hands down the most reliable. No batteries or fingerprints to worry about, and I can open mine in the dark with one hand in under 2 seconds easily, 1 second if I'm calm and trying to move quickly. When opened, it presents the gun to you as you swing the door open.
Downsides are that it's expensive (wow, it went up since I bought it!), and a thief with a crowbar could get into it in a couple minutes. Mine is just to keep the kids out.
You can bolt it to a bed or under a drawer, or keep it portable.
