I use these and they've been great for my knees. Just put them on inside out and then turn them inside out to get over your calves unless you like pulling your hair out slowly.
I've got some Tommy Kono sleeves - good quality and under $50 (US) a pair. Maybe you find some of those?

I often have knee pain a couple of days after squatting, even though I'm doing relatively low weight (just did 135 5x5 Sunday).
Would it be ridiculous for me to buy a pair of these? I've heard they can maybe do more harm than good when you're still a beginner with light weights, as the muscles/tendons around the knee are still developing and the band could act as too much of a crutch?
So these would be okay?
