I cut them out with masking tape on the back and didn’t cut thru the tape. Then I put masking tape on the front to keep their positions. Then I glued velum to the back and removed the front tape. They are glued with spray adhesive. The hole in the A and O are glued with craft adhesive. I like using layers so now I can make stickers out of magazine clippings, the greeting cards I get, etc. so I get my money’s worth out of it for sure. Another and cheaper alternative is getting something like this: Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive Applicator, 1/3-Inch by 472-Inch (62106) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000XAHF7S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_YGY2G59CP4NAMXXNM19Y
I’d recommend this adhesive: Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive Applicator, 1/3-Inch by 472-Inch (62106) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000XAHF7S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_J7NCBCW2HZ0DG2BDKHZ2
It applies like those tape runner white out applicators and provides a good seal. It says permanent but that’s mainly to differentiate it from their removable version that’s made for stuff like scrapbooking where you might want to reposition a photo.
I use a lot of pictures per page too, and this is my go to. So far it’s kept my pictures down for 3+ years, but they are in plastic sleeves
I use some rougher paper too, and it doesn’t seem to be an issue.

Thank you! I used kraft paper, and just plain black paper. The stickers are washi stickers. The glue I used is glue tape, like the glue runner ones? Idk what it’s called... it’s this
They make photo safe glue for scrapbooking and that’s what I would use.
It may be the type of glue you are using. Something like school glue has a lot of water in it, which will warp the cardstock.
For most connections, I'll use a double sided tape runner. Something like this.

If you do need a liquid glue, keep the quantity small and use a lower moisture glue, like this.
You need to try this. It’s my favorite.

Amazon, lol. Though the glider in the picture is a bit of false advertising...that's the glider I use for paper crafts (like envelope liners), but not the glider I use for framing. The glider I use for framing is gianormous...and not very photogenic.
Here's the one pictured (great for card making, etc): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XAHF7S/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and here's the one I use for framing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00COXI3CS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought the 1/4 inch one for framing, but kinda wish I had purchased the 1/2 inch applicator instead (it was just waay pricier) - as it happens, I tend to put two widths of tape on everything for framing.
I use these 🥰 Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive Applicator, 1/3-Inch by 472-Inch (62106) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B000XAHF7S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_YZ7GHX57TBDG6S2H9ZX5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I would say first of all, make sure that they're interested in bullet journaling, or in stationary at the very least. It's a letdown to spend good money on nice supplies when the recipient might not know what to do with them.
With that said, my personal preferences (have been bullet journaling for about a year and a half):
I love the Rhodia goalbook. The paper quality is excellent, and it has some basic things already set up, like an index, page numbers, future log. It's softcover, which I know some people don't like, but I don't mind.
Previously I was using a Leuchtturm1917, which was okay. The paper isn't as good, but it's hardcover if that matters. Both the Rhodia and Leuchtturm I used were A5 size, which is most common in my experience.
Keep in mind these are pricey, as far as notebooks go. I think I paid $25 for the goalbook and $20 for the Leuchtturm. If you're not sure about what the recipient would like, you can get some really nice journals from Barnes and Noble for less.
For writing supplies, I use my fountain pens along with a black rollerball and sometimes Tombow dual brush pens for fancy lettering. I know the Pigma Micron fineliners (fine tip pens in general) are very popular, but I just don't want to overwhelm myself with too many pens so I stick with what I have.
A couple of extras that I find pretty useful are a ruler (though I suppose most people already have a ruler lying around the house) and an adhesive applicator--I use the one that Tombow make. Or double-sided tape is good.
Other than that, it's really all down to personal preference. I personally keep my journal fairly utilitarian because I'm not very artistic, but lots of people use watercolor paints and get really creative. Stencils and stickers are also popular.

I hope that was helpful. Good luck!
