I've been playing solo for four years already, and something I've noticed is that my games, regardless of the system, take me longer than average to play because I love adding tons of detail into dialogues and other descriptive scenes. Yes, I do end up with a mini-novel in the making, but I take that as a sub-product of my hobby. Getting a combat-heavy scene with tons of dice rolling every now and then is indeed fun, but it's not the most common occurrence in my games.
The only times I feel I'm playing the wrong way is when I rush things out because I'm not really in the mood or maybe I'm too tired to have fun. If there's something I've learned from the book "Top 10 games that you can play in your mind by yourself" is that, when it comes to playing solo, there's no right or wrong way to do it. In fact, it's completely possible to play with only your mind, no rules nor extra goodies needed!

Now, every time I go to bed, right before sleeping, I play a bit of my own story. It's basically about some special ops guy getting airdropped to secure a hotel or something. It can get very detailed and complex. It's fun. And I fall asleep faster than I want to, so that's a plus.
Geez. That sounds horrendous. I’m so sorry that you’re having to go through this. I just got my first dose of the vaccine today because I’m terrified of something like this.
I have ADHD and so I’ve always had memory issues. There are ways to improve your memory / help you retrain your brain to work around the demyelination. this is a fun book, I haven’t gotten far in it but I keep forgetting.
You might also try bullet journaling, or just jotting down a few things about each day, like stuff you did or things that stand out. Maybe try reading the entries every week or once a month and try to remember what prompted you to write what you did, then make a new entry for what really stuck out in your memory about the review period, and maybe something you were surprised you forgot.
I know you didn’t ask for help or anything so I hope you don’t mind me sharing some ideas with you. Don’t beat yourself up over anything you forgot, just make a note about it, use it as a data point, and see if there is a pattern.
