I feel this. I had lightning hit my utility pole and basically direct hit on my old cable internet. Took out EVERYTHING connected to the wired network. Best way to electrically isolate network equipment is with fiber. So I set everyone up with switches like these linked below. I'll plug any kind of DSL/cable modem into a media converter and then a short fiber cable into my PFSense router. Then any switch off of that one I will hook up with a section of fiber and media converter again. It's actually code in a lot of places to have fiber links if you're connection networking cables between separate buildings. It can another $40-50 in all the different spots, but that's cheap insurance compared to losing everything.

Are you sure the one you bought is v1? The amazon link you post is v3. It' s normal that you can upgrade from v3 to v3.2. But the one I have is an older version, like from 2015. According to Tp-Link documentation I shouldn't upgrade because it might crash my device. That's why I'm asking if anyone has done it before.
The TL-SG2008 V3 is a good little switch. I have one and was it ran well while I was using it as my 'main' switch for a few months and it worked great. At this price, it's a steal!
I eventually upgraded to the TL-SG2210 because, as I rewired some of my ethernet cabling on my network to provide PoE feeds to my (4) EAPs and OC-200, I needed (5) PoE ports and the TL-SG2008 V3 only has four PoE ports. Normally, the SG-TL2210 is within $20-$30 so it wasn't much of an upgrade cost.

That switch only supplies PoE on four ports. Unmanaged refers to a lack of (advanced) switching configuration. There may be circumstances where you would want your cameras or other IoT devices on a separate VLAN, but that's probably outside the scope of this thread.
If I were in the market, I would probably consider something like a TP-Link TL-SG2210P or Netgear GS108PP.
Implementing a pfSense firewall is a good move.
