In most large cities it seems like current fashion is all about dark clothing. I bought a reflective jacket off Amazon (this one) and have gotten compliments on it because it doesn't have that construction worker look. It is more of a plain white/gray until you're outside and headlights hit it.

The brand name is 3M, but it is not the American tape brand. The chest pocket is fake. I cannot for the life of me figure out why they went the extra mile of sewing a fake zipper there. All that being said, it really does light up when headlights hit it and it has kept me dry in some nasty storms.
I sometimes rock this on night rides (when I know I'm hitting darker areas). It doesn't breath too well but looks really cool and the reflection can't be missed. Protip: runs small, consider 1 or 2 sizes up.
