No prob. I haven’t done any work to follow Hoffman’s instructions on mineralizing for brewing. I just use it to make sure I get trace minerals in my drinking water.
My gf works at a supplement supplier, and she is super into homeopathic medicine. I’ve gotten the whole schpiel + take milk thistle on your off days, take magnesium before bed regardless, and keep trace mineral drops for your gallon of water you should consume per day. Alcohol consumption continually depletes your body’s vitamins and minerals over 48 hours following the last drink. Be safe y’all.
unjerk if you use a reverse osmosis filter or buy distilled water, you should add trace minerals (a couple drops) every gallon.
I WAS NOT AWARE PEOPLE DRINK DISTILLED WATER EXCLUSIVELY UNTIL A 13 YEAR OLD GIRL TOLD ME THAT HER MOM MADE HER DRINK ONLY DISTILLED WATER
You can easily find this stuff on Amazon. It tastes better bc it has electrolytes and 70 different (healthy and natural) trace minerals, instead of fluoride. https://www.amazon.com/Trace-Minerals-Research-Concentrace-Mineral/dp/B000AMUWLK/
Btw, Iodine from Kelp is useful in removing excess fluoride from your body. Yes, salt is Iodized, but most people are still deficient.
Fluoride calcifies the pineal gland, where DMT and melatonin(both of which are structural analogues of serotonin) are produced from L-tryptophan.
Yay! Happy to have inspired someone.
Just letting you know that fasting is an art and it's not just about not eating. You have to eat right before a fast and also break the fast with the right food.
Also during a fast you have to no push your body too mush. Let it ready and heal. Make you drink enough water. Tea and coffee, if drunken naturally, is fine for autophagy. Especially Bergamot tea, look it up.
I would also supplement with electrolytes while doing it. This is a good one without additives: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AMUWLK/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_MJ3NSY9Y8QQNMDDGJQ6S
Also, don't jump in to a 72h fast. Start slow and let your body get used to it. She talk about it on her channel.
Good luck! 🤗
> ionic trace mineral drops
This is the trace mineral drops: https://www.amazon.com/Trace-Minerals-Research-Concentrace-Mineral/dp/B000AMUWLK
But its not necessary to use the trace mineral drops if we use the lemons and limes! The choice is yours.
You can also buy trace mineral drops at any vitamin store or Amazon, you add like two drops to each glass or pitcher.
Easy solution. Example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AMUWLK/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_M87HHD7W0027D168P5QX
I did this for awhile before going another route.
I’ve tried Third Wave packets before, but the TDS was off the charts (I’m going off LM’s recommendations). Ended up using this, and I add enough to get around 50 TDS.
What are other folks using? How do you know what’s “right”?
Yes, true fact. This is why some opt to add trace minerals back into the water. If you want, you can add to each glass. But you want it to mix in. One drop can be bitter.

Question if you can answer:
I started adding this to my drinks a month ago and felt much better, but is there a risk of kidney damage from the increased osmolarity?
https://www.amazon.com/Trace-Minerals-Research-Concentrace-Mineral/dp/B000AMUWLK
It makes me feel much better, but I don't want to damage my kidneys more than they are already (dad died of arf).
That’s one they sell that is just magnesium or mainly magnesium. It should do the trick, but the one boron and lithium is this-

It's ok to be under your macro numbers, but you should make sure you're getting enough protein to not lose muscle mass. Make it a daily goal to hit your protein amount. Rotisserie chicken, tuna, steak, eggs, etc. I'd strongly recommend using My Fitness Pal to track, if you don't already. Fill in the other calories with fat, if you are feeling hungry. You don't have to hit 146 grams of fat per day, but you can have that much to fill in if you're hungry. Use the Useful Links section on the sidebar for guides on keto friendly foods and what to stay away from.
As far as berries, I like to have a quarter cup of raspberries with a couple of tablespoons of heavy whipping cream, and maybe a squirt of Reddi-Whip, for an evening snack if I'm a little hungry. There are about 15 grams of carbs in one cup of raspberries, so you definitely need to measure and not eat too many. But they make a nice snack to satisfy a sweet craving, without the sugar.
For the headaches, be sure to drink plenty of water, and get your potassium and magnesium daily. Beef broth and Lo-Salt, or Morton Lite Salt are great. I also use mineral drops for my magnesium.
Being able to live on butter would be my dream. I'm very fat driven. You can eat ZC with higher fat and lower protein. Cook everything on lard and/or add butter to your final meal. Pemmican is high fat and very sustainable.
Broth is a good option to take a cup as a daily supplement. Organ meats are loaded with minerals. If you have a distaste for them, mix them with ground muscle meat and you'll be able to get them down without the heebie-jeebies. Or you can get things like dessicated liver in caspules.
I do take a multimineral supplement, which may be sacriligious around here. It helps me around my period when I crave various zc things, and I was anemic before starting zc, so I feel like I'm still working on a deficit. Things started to really turn for me healthwise when I started eating the level of fat I was craving and incorporated some organ meats into the mix.
I want to avoid plastic waste so I don't want to use bottled water too often.
What are your thoughts on adding minerals to filtered water? Seems a bit unusual, but it might do the trick.
Something like this? http://www.amazon.com/Trace-Minerals-Research-Concentrace-Mineral/dp/B000AMUWLK/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1459796262&sr=8-1&keywords=trace+mineral+drops
I use gypsum, burton salts, etc. (available at most brew suppliers) and also Concentrace Trace Mineral Drops. It doesn't add much cost per batch. I'm fascinated by the complexity of water chemistry in brewing.
I haven’t experienced this problem personally, but I’ll offer a few things I do that might help!
First off, I love that you drink hibiscus and rinse your mouth/drink water with it. Based on that alone, I feel like we’d get along. I don’t know if you use a straw as well, but that will help keep the acid off your teeth too. I use a reusable glass one and love it!
Also you probably know this, but just in case: make sure you’re not brushing your teeth for two hours following an acidic meal or drink, including hibiscus and oranges. I floss and rinse my mouth after eating citrus, but I definitely don’t brush. And avoid oil pulling since it can erode tooth enamel.
I also add trace mineral drops to my water. I’ve been doing it for a couple years and my dental health is on point, but I obviously can’t say if that’s because of the remineralized water. I use these drops. Not really for any reason besides that’s what my health foods store sells. I got the idea from this video, which offers other good tips for oral health!
Try adding electrolytes to your water. I use the Walmart brand Blue Raspberry And Electrolytes Great Value Blue Raspberry Water Enhancer and ConcenTrace Trace Mineral Drops. I used to get wicked and extremely painful cramps, and will still get them if I don’t have enough electrolytes.
Our muscles fire through the use of sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and chlorine ionsMuscle Contraction Diagram. So, only increasing one salt, (which people usually do by adding table salt to their diets) may not give them the necessary salts and ions necessary to prevent the pain and cramps.
Pinch of sea salt or ideally something like: https://www.amazon.com/Trace-Minerals-Research-Concentrace-Mineral/dp/B000AMUWLK
Haha woah what, no I was replying to someone who said that RO is clean but not ideal for long term use since it's stripped from natural minerals. I dont see the comment anymore or the "deleted" marker. So weird!
It does seem a little complicated at first but it's not bad once you get used to it. You can buy a bottle of the mineral drops I mentioned online and it will last like a year. And if you buy a 3 or 5 gallon jug the water in it will last you for several days. I have two 5 gallon jugs and bring them with me every time I go to the grocery store and fill them from the RO dispenser at the store and it works perfectly for me. It's a little expensive up front cost but honestly in the long run it'll be cheaper than buying sparkling water all the time. I do love sparkling water but for a good ol glass of water I luke the RO water
Here's some links for the things I mentioned: 3 gallon jug from walmart
he's mentioned that it's good to remineralize distilled water. i use something called concentrace https://www.amazon.com/Trace-Minerals-Research-Concentrace-Mineral/dp/B000AMUWLK it's also super beneficial to make lemon/lime water with fresh lemon/lime juice. for cooking/smoothies it's probably not as big of a deal to remineralize it but it would still be beneficial.
"Water coming straight from the tap or a bottle has lost its vitality and its innate living structure. By adding fresh squeezed lemon juice, you “wake up” the water and bring it back to life. This allows it to travel more deeply into your tissues and cells and carry the essential nutrients and compounds you need in order to thrive." https://www.medicalmedium.com/mm101/medical-medium-lemon-water.htm

here's an answer from the amazon q&a. they basically say it's readily absorbed since it's ionic. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AMUWLK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3
Q: What are the differences between these trace minerals and plant based trace minerals? Are they both ionic? Is either more absorbable or effective?
A: First off, a plant requires minerals in their ionic form. These ionic minerals enter through a plant's root system from the soil surrounding it. Remember, soil is made up of water, air, pieces of rock, and humus, which is a mixture of decomposed plants and animals. The top layer of soil is called topsoil and is the most fertile because of the humus, and it can take 850 years to form just 2 cm of this soil. This is the layer that we grow our plants in, and it has many properties, including mineral composition which can vary depending on where the soil is formed. A plant takes elements from the soil, but when a mineral makes an attempt to enter the root system that is not in its ionic form, the plant puts this element through a process in the exterior of the root that links it to a carbon molecule, and then breaks it down into its smallest form: an ion. This process must occur before that mineral can pass through the plant's xylem. The xylem is basically the vascular system of a plant that carries water and dissolved minerals to the remainder of the plant, as well as providing physical support for that plant.
An element is an element is an element; only the size of the element is really what is important when it comes to the body's ability to use it, and how quickly it can be used, so absorption of minerals depends on what your individual need is. For instance, we all perspire at various levels, and each time we perspire, we lose minerals. This means that if I perspire more than you, I may need more minerals than you do. Perspiration is only one way we lose minerals, so given all the ways we lose minerals, and the varying rate each of us lose them, absorption of minerals will be different for each of us too.
As a rule of thumb, ionic minerals are readily absorbed by the body because they don't have to be broken down first. Other types of minerals must first be broken down before the body can utilize them. Colloidal minerals are minerals that are derived from ancient sea deposits, petrified vegetation, or humus, that are then mined and processed. By it's definition, a colloid is a group of molecules suspended in a solution. Because of their size, colloidal minerals are unable to penetrate a semi-permeable membrane, such as a cell wall, and must also be broken down by the body before they can be assimilated.
An ionic mineral is defined as an atom or group of atoms with either a positive or negative charge, meaning they conduct electrical impulses. Within the body, they keep organs such as the brain and heart functioning. Because an ionic mineral is the smallest form of a mineral, it the easiest form for the body to assimilate, because it is small enough to pass through cell walls.
Plant minerals are usually from a colloidal source; the minerals in the ConcenTrace are 100% ionic minerals.

I also take dripdrop electrolyes sometimes but it has sugar added
I like all of these suggestions, but replying to say that Iodine was the big surprise for me. If you're on the fence, do the requisite research, and do NOT ask a doctor. There is a literal conspiracy among their ranks to keep the healing properties of iodine out of the public eye to fuel the continuous cycle of post-ailment "healing". Just like selenium, magnesium and a host of other core elements, it's been fucked out of our farming soil over the past few decades, to the point where the majority of folks are in actual withdrawal in the form of depression, anxiety, sadness, apathy, etc. I HIGHLY recommend iodine supplementation along with this guy, which honestly ultimately gave me more daily (and sustainable) energy than most of my other supps.

Seriously, give this a shot. The risk of losing $20 pales in comparison to the potential rewards reaped by normalizing one's elemental intake.
Been using this stuff for a few months: https://www.amazon.com/Trace-Minerals-Research-Concentrace-Mineral/dp/B000AMUWLK
Add 5-6 drops per 16oz
There is a great way to consume this mineral other than borax or pharmaceuticals, Thus been trace minerals. Simply add back to distilled water and replenish your body!
