Great thinking! Will try that later today and post back.😎 Was also wondering what you would recommend for a base station antenna and the cable. I'm looking at
TRAM Cb Base Antenna, No Ground Plane, for All Applications https://www.amazon.ca/TRAM-Antenna-Ground-Plane-Applications/dp/B0148LDG70/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=no+ground+base+cb+antenna&qid=1605836622&s=electronics&sr=1-1 and it looks like people buy 18' cable with that but I think I should get at lease 50' and can't find one on amazon. I need something least obtrusive that I could hang out the window or stick on a short pole..would appreciate advice. Many thanks!
I can't comment on how well it work but I just got this for a base station I am putting in my home. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0148LDG70/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_QZ.5FbX8NZHEN
Thank you kindly 😎 If the definition of an expert you provided is correct it's much better that aren't one😂 I wanted something plug-and-play like and was overwhelmed with ohms, frequencies, grounds, sizes, etc so took a leap of faith with the below: I'm getting TRAM Cb Base Antenna, No Ground Plane, for All Applications https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0148LDG70/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and RG8x Coaxial Cable, CB Coax Cable, 50ft RFAdapter UHF PL259 Male to Male Low Loss CB Antenna Cables, 50 Ohm for HAM Radio, Antenna Analyzer, Dummy Load, SWR Meter https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B085997C8Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have no idea what kind of reception I'll get but at least I'll be able to forgo the ground plane (the cable should supply some ground) for now and play around with the location..when the snow melts😓 I couldn't figure out if I can add ground plane to no ground plane antenna. I saw some people suggested any metal, even chicken wire. I didn't realize antennas were so complicated, always thought it was just a piece of metal!
