It sounds like for that specific trauma EMDR might be a better treatment option. It's very intense and I wouldn't recommend it unless she's really committed to trying to deal with the issue. In the meantime proper boundaries and safeguards are just as important.
If you're interested, there's a book I started reading called trauma in the body and it's really insightful. It can be a bit triggering since it deals with understanding where trauma comes from.
