My echoing only resolved after buying a turtle beach PS4 chat wire (as dumb as that sounds) on the recommendation of others on this sub.
This is the one I bought: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HS5FETM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's expensive on amazon because people know this fixes the astro issue, but you can probably find one cheaper somewhere else or non-TB branded.
Lol I was way off. It was a PS4 turtle Beach chat cable.
Turtle Beach PS4 Chat Cable https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00HS5FETM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_p8N3Db57C8KDT
Plug that into the headphone and to the controller. Make sure optical is plugged into the transmitter.
Do they still make the Razer Chimera 5.1? I had a pair for the 360 back when black ops 2 came out and it was a fantastic headset comfortable and great sound. I actually used them up until last year nonstop not because they broke or were bad quality but because I wanted to update my gear (Razer gear never wants to break which can be a little annoying when you end up using the same mouse/headset for 5+ years). I do need to give you a heads up though if you do buy the RC5.1 you need to buy an adapter caple to have the mic work for chat on ps4 the RC5.1 was designed for 360 if I remember correctly this is the one I bought when I switched from 360 to ps4 https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Force-PlayStation-Headset-Compatibility/dp/B00HS5FETM/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1520360534&sr=8-4&keywords=turtle+beach+chat+adapter+ps4
Have the same set up. Green cable into headphone port of TV, headset needs power from USB, so into TV,Xbox or USB plug, however I needed to buy a cable to go from headset to controller.
Don't know where you are based but here is UK Amazon page to what you need.
Look at the rings on 3.5mm jack, 3 rings instead of standard 2, that is what you look for.
i have my astro mixamp connected to my PC and PS4 and get sound through both at the same time without having to move cables around often
I have the mixamp plugged into my PC and get sound through the USB while i have the ps4 connected to the mixamp via Aux. If i decide to play on xbox i can just move the aux cable from the ps4 to the xbox1.
As for chatting i have a Yeti mic for my pc. Since i had an old mixamp with a 2.5mm port for the 360, i bought a 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable that goes from the mixamp to the ps4 controller (bought something like this two years ago). i dont know if the newer a40 systems provide the 2.5 to 3.5mm cable or the amp still has the 2.5mm port.
I like having two separate mics because i can easily choose who i want to talk to if im on discord as well as a ps4 party at the same time. I can just mute the mic from astros with the mute toggle on the headset wire or press the mute button on the yeti.
I just set them up according to Astro instruction, and used the Pro settings and thought they usually sounded pretty good. Biggest issue I had was the microphone was trash, and real quite for folks in my party. Replacing the chat cable that goes to the controller helped, but my voice was still overly quite regularly. This is the replacement that helps: https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Force-PlayStation-Headset-Compatibility/dp/B00HS5FETM/
Its the turtle beach adapter i found it on amazon its like 23$ i cant track down the link right now.
edit: heres the link https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Force-PlayStation-Headset-Compatibility/dp/B00HS5FETM/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1477371509&sr=8-12&keywords=turtle+beach+adapter
I use X12. For game audio, I have them plugged into my monitor using the green cord.
For chat audio, you'll need a 2.5mm to 3.5mm (male to male) cord.
If for some reason you can't plug the headset into your TV or monitor, you can still get game audio from the controller too.
If you already have a place to plug in the auxiliary cable of the headset, you only need a PS4 chat cable.
Turtle Beach doesn't sell these cables by themselves anymore, presumably so they can make more money by including them in the upgrade kit.
That one works but I personally have used that and the cable lasted me about a month. You can buy that if you want, just to have the buttons on the controller and everything but if you want a more reliable cable, I bought this
and it still works perfect after almost a year. Ignore the fact that it says PlayStation 4. It still works with Xbox one.
Should come with one that you need if not I used this one from turtle beach says its for ps4 but it works with the a50's to the chat adaptor.
Turtle Beach - Ear Force Chat Cable for PlayStation 4 Headset Compatibility - PS4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HS5FETM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_Xc7xwbPQKCS9M
Here's the cable I'm referring to:
Just plug and play from A50 to Controller (or Headset adapter on old controllers). No settings need to be changed I believe.
Something else I want to point out. I had several issues with the A50 and the headset adapter for the controller. Both seemed to conflict with each other. The headset would turn off randomly. The adapter would refuse to mute. All sorts of issues
When I got a controller with the built in 3.5mm jack, all of those issues went away. So for anyone having trouble with headsets using the headset adapter, I would HIGHLY recommend getting one of the new controllers with the built-in jack.
I since returned the 150 ohms version and bought a pair of 50 ohms from Sennheiser direct. It sounds much better on my Xbox One compared to the 150 ohm version.
In terms of it not working too well with the PS4, from my understanding there's a weird issue with the cords used to the DS4. Turtle Beach makes a 2.5mm to 3.5mm cord that's supposed to work well with higher grade headsets and the DS4.
Are you using the headset adaptor?
If you are...
Then are you using the PS4 2.5mm to 3.5mm chat cable?
If you are not then buy it.
As for the issues with non-MS jack cables... did you try this? http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-PlayStation-Headset-Compatibility-TBS-0276-01-4/dp/B00HS5FETM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1441895840&sr=8-1&keywords=turtle+beach+ps4+chat+cable
Obviously it's Turtle Beach branded but it's just a 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable. Works perfectly with my A40's for chat. I ordered one pretty much as soon as I got the headset adapter with that POS flat cable 2.5/3.5 adapter.
Turtle Beach Ear Force Chat Cable for PlayStation 4 Headset Compatibility (TBS-0276-01) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HS5FETM/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_cV66vbY8E9DHC
All you will need is this. 3.5mm jack goes to controller. 2.5mm jack goes to the mix amp pro. If you have the 2.5-2.5mm cable that came with 360 headsets, then you can use that with the adapter. But that adds a lot more length/ bulk.
Source: I use the cable linked and have had no problems.
Is it a desk setup? Or living room/bed room?
with the Headset adapter there is a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter to let you plug in the cable that comes with the A40's, though in my experience and complaints from friends this cable usually caused interferance.
Easy fix was to just replace the whole cable with the Turtle Beach PS4 Chat Cable works perfectly and have been using it for about 6-7 months without any issues
you can get them a little cheaper if you look on eBay, the official Turtle Beach Store on ebay sells them pretty cheap but dont have them in stock all the time
Yep exactly. Works with TS or Skype.
I had trouble trying to use the PS4's included little crappy ear bud (the mic didn't work), but the A50's work like a champ.
You can not however use PSN party/voice chat and TS at the same time. Plugging in the chat cable seems to disable the USB microphone and route it all through the cable.
Here's a link to the chat cable i use. Even though it's the Turtle Beach cable, it still works with any other headset that has an Xbox port: PS4 Chat Cable
just as a psa if you do have the mixamp, your mic won't sound very nice. It won't sound as crisp as using the mic directly with the ds4 but this wire can help improve your mic audio
So like this guy here?
And just plugging that in works? I currently have a pair of Sennheiser HD598s plugged into a y splitter with my Mod Mic 4.0. And the mixamp has an optical plug into my ps4 along with a usb. All I need is another plug from the controller to the mixamp?
When you say you have an echo, is it for others, or yourself? If yourself, it might just be the game volume is not muted via the controller, in which case you're getting audio from the mixamp, as well as the controller adapter, which bothered me for quite a while until I figured out what was happening.
Also, I bought this: http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-PlayStation-Headset-Compatibility-TBS-0276-01-4/dp/B00HS5FETM
and it completely fixed all audio issues that I had (low mic noise, static from OEM controller adapter, etc.) Fits into the headset fine, and uses the stereo headset adapter on the controller. You still get the great sound wirelessly from the mixamp (just turn down game audio all the way on the adapter) and have the mute button right there within reach on the controller.
Spend the $10 and a few days on this instead of buying new cans - the A50s have been the best audio on X1 that I've found - better than even the TB elite 800.
I have A40's and have been using that cable pretty much from the second I got the headset adapter last spring. Straight from the adapter into the mixamp.
When I saw the headset adapter came with that awful little flat cable that the stock headset also uses I knew it would be junk and tried a few different options but that single cable (3.5mm on one end plugs into the headset adapter, 2.5mm on the other end goes right to the mixamp) has worked flawlessly for over a year now.
I'm guessing he didn't buy a Turtle Beach 2.5mm to 3.5mm chat cable?
I had mic problems with my Astro A40s but a freind told me to buy that cable so I did and soon as I plugged it into the headset adapter and the mixamp my mic worked absolutely fine.
If you have the headset adapter it should have come with a short 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable which you plug into the talkback/mic cable. This will provide game and chat sound. Though the cable they give you may wear out pretty fast as mine and a few of my friends had happen. I recommend buying this cable to use incase that one fails, as it is of better quality.
I also lost the cable that comes with the stereo adapter that I was using with my tb x12s. I got a cheap one on eBay, but it constantly echoes. Either my adapter went bad or the cable I got isn't completely compatible. I'm going to try one of the ones linked ITT and report back. Anyone else have echo issues with cheap cables?
Tldr don't buy cheap 2.5mm->3.5mm adapter on eBay
edit: bought http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-PlayStation-Headset-Compatibility-TBS-0276-01-4/dp/B00HS5FETM/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1425753949&sr=8-4&keywords=turtlebeach+adapter - will report back if it fixes my chat issues
I have astro a50s but needed something similar for voice chat. Instead of an adapter I bought this which is the whole cable.
Turtle Beach Ear Force Chat Cable for PlayStation 4 Headset Compatibility (TBS-0276-01)
So this won't be a suitable fix?
Didn't really want to as I was pretty sure you downvoted me.
This one should work though.
I had the exact same issue with my headset. But buying this cable sorted everything out for me. No longer have any issues. https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Force-PlayStation-Headset-Compatibility/dp/B00HS5FETM
> My method for the last 2 years or so has been either an earbud in one ear, or my Bluetooth speaker quiet enough that the mic doesn't pick it up.
I'm gunna be honest, that sounds bloody awful, I'm sorry you had to suffer for that long.
Order ya self a Chromecast Audio and a 2nd gen Astro A40 but make sure you buy this chat cable or YOU WILL HAVE ISSUES WITH THE MIC, Wish someone told me that before I bought mine.
UK link for chat cable.
US link for chat cable.
My chat cable for my Astros stopped working last year and I bought one of these
Has worked perfectly since I bought it.
I'm sorry to keep bothering you but whats the difference between these two cables:
I use gen 1 A50's. You need to get yourself the chat adapter and one of these cables: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Turtle-Beach-PlayStation-Headset-Compatibility/dp/B00HS5FETM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1464795237&sr=8-3&keywords=turtle+beach+cable
This is what i have been using since the chat adapter came out and it works perfectly
Edit: if you are from US this should work aswell: https://www.amazon.com/Xbox-One-Headset-Talkback-Replacement-Headsets/dp/B0147YVCG0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464795350&sr=8-1&keywords=turtle+beach+cable
I have this one and it works fine.
Here is the link on Amazon
This might work, I'm not sure but I use a similar one on my Earforce Tango's.
I bought this one for my turtle beach headset which would meet your needs: Turtle Beach - Ear Force Chat Cable for PlayStation 4 Headset Compatibility - PS4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HS5FETM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_eRdAwbDXZHKQJ
However it is unavailable. An alternative is this one: PlayStation 4 PS4 Chat Talkback Cable for Turtle Beach Headsets https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K8J5L52/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_4NdAwb18XH17Q
I would avoid any 2.5 to 3.5 adapters as I have had trouble with them. Get a cable that goes from 2.5 to 3.5.
its just a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable
Ignore my previous comment. Does it look like this? http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-PlayStation-Headset-Compatibility-TBS-0276-01-4/dp/B00HS5FETM/ref=sr_1_5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1447639374&sr=1-5&keywords=xbox+one+chat+cable
I drew up a quick diagram of the setup:
and here is a picture of my actual setup:
The only thing I had to buy other then the mixamp, and the headset was a 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable.
Hope that helps some.
This is what you need and its very durable.
If you have a controller with a headset jack, all you need is a 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable, such as this one (the one I have) or this one. Just plug it in and you're good to go.
I would also suggest purchasing this to connect between the audio adapter and headset because the wire that comes with the adapter breaks easily.
Here's what I use for mine.
Just to confirm before I go ahead and buy (yes I'm an idiot) if I buy this one you linked... http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-PlayStation-Headset-Compatibility-TBS-0276-01-4/dp/B00HS5FETM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1441925972&sr=8-3&keywords=2.5mm+to+3.5mm+cable
...I won't need to buy the actual adapter that you linked? http://www.amazon.com/Josi-Minea-Headphone-Extender-Smartphones/dp/B011HNG458/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1441925778&sr=8-16&keywords=2.5mm+one+pole+to+3.5mm
They're just called PS4 chat adapters. You can buy one for $11 here on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HS5FETM/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_ELgcwbJWWNKMK
Yep - I use the same cable, for the same reason. Here's the US store link if anyone needs it:
> After giving up on getting my Astro A40s to work correctly with my Xbox One.
I can help.
Are you using new Astro A40s? No? Okay go update the Mixamp via a PC.
Are you using the headset adaptor? No? Then go buy it but bin the crappy cable you get with it.
Is your controller updated? No? Go update it.
Are you using a 2.5mm to 3.5mm Turtle Beach chat cable? No? Okay go buy it as that cable will magically make it all work.
EDIT: Found your old post pretty much saying the mic for your voice is to quite.
If you don't already own this Turtle Beach Ear Force Chat Cable for PlayStation 4 then I highly suggest you do so as that cable fixed my issue with the Astros.
Here is an Amazon link for it.
Just buy this cable, Problem solved.
You mean a 3.5mm to 2.5mm chat cable?
^That's ^why ^I'm ^here, ^I ^don't ^judge ^you. ^PM ^/u/xl0 ^if ^I'm ^causing ^any ^trouble. ^WUT?
I just recently got a pair of Astro A40's + Mixamp Pro along with the Official Headset Adaptor and set it all up by following some YouTube guides but the microphone just didn't work at all so I tried for 2 hours fucking about with the Xbox one's settings, Astro A40’s Mixamp Pro and Official Headset Adapter and I still couldn't get it work, It was driving me absolutely fucking insane.
I pretty much gave up and started putting everything back in its box so that I could take it back to the store GAME UK that I got it from so that I could get a refund for it and pick up a different headset instead such as the Turtle Beach Stealth 500x but I decided to Google the issue and I quickly saw that a lot of people on Astro Gaming Forums have been having very similar issues and quite a few people were recommending this 1.2m 2.5mm - 3.5mm chat cable and a few people said that this chat cable completely solved there issues.
I decided to take the risk and buy the Chat Cable considering I already spent £200 of the Astro A40's which at that time didn't work with the Xbox one and the Official Headset Adapter so another £10 wasn't a big deal and amazingly the chat cable turned up the next day.
I plugged the 2.5mm end into the Astro Mixamp Pro’s chat port and the 3.5mm end into the Official Headset Adapter and I've got to tell you that it fucking work’s and I am now absolutely fucking buzzing that my pair of Astro A40's now work perfectly fine with my Xbox One thanks to that chat cable but just remember to have the Official Headset Adapter set up so that the top right button ( + ) is set to max so that it beeps and also have the bottom left button ( - ) set to max so that beeps too and everything will work nicely.
Hopefully this information helps you out as I most certainly know how it feels to not have something that is fairly expensive work properly.
I'm going to go with this cable, possibly 3 of them just for safety. Hopefully I get 5 adapters instead of one lol.
Hopefully this information helps.
You do know that's going to stick out and poke you right?
You should look at something like this.
I know it says PS4 but it works on the xbox one as well.
