Not the BEST solution, as it requires some cash, but I picked up a Turtle Beach adapter with mic monitoring and superhuman hearing and it is awesome. $25 on Amazon.
You just need a headset adapter, then you can plug any compatible 3.5mm stereo headset into it and you'll get both game audio and chat.
I'm assuming the one you have is the single ear chat headset?
The MS stereo headset adapter is discontinued and kinda expensive to buy these days, but there are third party versions, such as this: -
That's not exactly cheap either though.
Thought it looked like a plug in thing like my Xbox controller has a part that can go on it and it is like a square usb drive and two points on the outside. This: https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Headset-Controller-Superhuman-Hearing/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=asc_df_B00PWRYKDE/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312196236452&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10567335272429687896&hvpone=&hvptwo=&a...
He probably has an old Xbox one controller, they did have a weird ass connector, and if you wanted to use a normal headset you needed an adaptor: Turtle Beach - Ear Force Headset Audio Controller Plus - Superhuman Hearing - Xbox One https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_.eIPBbFNPJDZ7
I bought it. It was not good. My pals heard eco. I heard and annoying high-pitches sound. I tried everything. I tries with multiple ear buds and over hear headsets. I trow them in the garbage.
Turtle Beach Ear Force Headset Audio Controller for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One - Superhuman Hearing, Game & Mic Presets, Chat & Game Mix, and Mic Monitoring (Amazon Mexico link)
I use this for wired headsets:
The pricetag seems hefty, but compared to their headsets it's a good deal that provides all of this:
there are mute, mixer, and volume adjustments without going into menus. It won't readjust automatically.
it sounds better than plugging directly into the controller because of the next three benefits.
presets for different preferences. I only needed to set up one for multiplayer games. I use my surround sound for singleplayer, so not sure how great it is for that.
The audio boost (green button in the middle) is great for footsteps or quieter noises in competitive shooters. It doesn't sound "realistic" but is invaluable.
It makes even cheaper headphones sound decent (mileage varies - some still sucked).
I swear by this thing. I had an official Microsoft one, but it broke and IIRC they don't make them anymore. This one is better anyway. I also recommend enabling Windows Sonic or other virtual surround - Sonic is free and sounds pretty good. Hope this helped.
TL;DR: Follow link and buy it. Much better than anticipated. Much better than the discontinued official one.
This is a little expensive but I’ve used this to bypass blown out jacks on controllers before.
Turtle Beach Ear Force Headset Audio Controller for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One - Superhuman Hearing, Game & Mic Presets, Chat & Game Mix, and Mic Monitoring https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_WHPHE46SDXVEC3T0K898
Look in to getting something like this. You’re gonna get better audio quality, it’ll definitely be able to get louder, and you shouldn’t have issues with your mic
Can she just get the chat mix add on for the controller? Microsoft use to make them but theres still no too expensive third party ones.
For example : https://www.amazon.ca/Turtle-Beach-Headset-Controller-Superhuman/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=asc_df_B00PWRYKDE/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=292983208241&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=13373259752743196049&hvpone=&hvptwo=&...
Turtle Beach makes one thats good
Just got this https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Headset-Controller-Superhuman-Hearing/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=mp_s_a_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=turtle+beach+headset+xbox+one&qid=1606698052&sprefix=turtle&sr=8-7
Works perfectly with new controller.
Amazon is awesome
Uses the other port on the controller. This has a 3.5mm jack and you get additional controls.
Is this what you're referring to?
My girlfriend expressed interest in gaming so I got her her own Xbox and everything. The problem is we play in the same room, so any time we are in a party it's a little bit annoying with the mic echo and such.
What you've described sounds perfect for us! However I didn't see the mic noise gate feature listed on this page so I wanted to ask.
Buy this it will make it easier to use and give you more sound options:
Turtle Beach Headset Audio Controller Plus (Xbox One) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_VZ2XCb21Z78CR
I also recommend buying the Dolby Atmos app for Xbox one headphones on the Xbox too :)
I’m referring to this adapter:
I’m referring to this adaptor:
Looked on amazon for mine and got a turtle beach audio adapter that comes with some extra features for about $40 (https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Headset-Controller-Superhuman-Hearing/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1540687064&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=xbox+one+audio+adapter) but otherwise there are some 3rd part audio adapters and of course the official xbox one audio adapters but from what I saw they were $60 USD or more.
You can find on Amazon the Turtle beach adapter. It's around 40 something like that but then you can plus any phone earbuds with a microphone and it will allow you to have all the features like super human hearing, microphone feedback, sound presets, I find it to be a good solution ...
I use the turtle beach headset adapter since it came free with the turtle beach xo ones. Similar to the normal adapter, but perhaps there are a few differences in audio delay due to the bass boost or internal workings.
Anyway for 1) I find that my audio calibration fluctuates when using a controller wirelessly with the adapter. 80% of play sessions it sits around 90ms, but it can range between 75-120ms when I do manual calibration. That's probably more than your TV settings? But perhaps close to a surround sound setup. Compare!
If wires aren't a problem, plugging in the controller by usb seems to drop the lag number and make it consistent. Plus, you won't have to waggle a thumbstick to keep the it from falling asleep every 15 minutes. As for the cable between the controller and headset, I place the controller on the right and have it run across to my left ear and it never gets in the way. I don't know much about Bluetooth headphones, but hope this helps!
that is the only product i know FOR 10000000% SURE that will allow OMTP or CTIA standard headsets+mics to work on xbox one. even though it's not a "converter" it will allow OMTP devices to function 100% properly. i have never personally known anyone to get a OMTP to CTIA converter to actually work on xbox.
You need the turtle beach ear force audio controller plus adapter. Has to be the Plus version, I have two of the plus and two of the non-plus and only the Plus works with iPhone headphones in getting the mic working.
Expensive option, but I like the convenience of using the same headphones I always have on me for my phone any ways. Hope the above helps!
The adaptor is shipped with the headset , its the one turtle beach made : Raise your game on Xbox One with the Ear Force XO SEVEN Pro featuring the new Ear Force Headset Audio Controller Plus. THE PLUS IS IMPORTANT, its the v1.1 of the adaptor an thee 2 control on the bottom for mic & audio preset. https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Headset-Controller-Superhuman-Hearing/dp/B00PWRYKDE
I can't find the turtle beach ear force adapter anywhere to purchase. Can someone provide an amazon link for me? Thanks a lot!
EDIT: Looks like I found it..is this the right one..for $40? https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Headset-Controller-Superhuman-Hearing/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=sr_1_8?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1469390457&sr=1-8&keywords=xbox+one+ear+force
I'm not sure how it'll work with your headphones, but turtlebeach has an adapter that works with their headsets
Wired will ALWAYS sound better!
I never used the Headphone Jack of my Controller.
Get a Microsoft Stereo Adapter or a compatible one from Turtle Beach which you can connect on the Bottom of your controller. Then you can control your Headset via the buttons there.
You might find this licenced Turtle Beach or the Microsoft Original cheaper somewhere else.
I have both and prefer the Turtle Beach.
BTW. The Best Sound (no Mic!) you will get when you have good wired headphones and plug them into you AV Receiver where the Xbox is connected to! (if you have a AV Receiver of course)
Then you can control the Volume with your AV Receiver Remote.
Yeah, Apple reversed the pins on the 3.5mm jack. If you get something like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PWRYKDE/, you can use them though. And you get some handy buttons.
It will not work as expected if you plug them right into the controller.
If you buy something like this, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PWRYKDE/, it'll work great though, and you'll get some handy controls.
Works exactly the same
You can get an adaptor like this that will allow game volume too.
Been using the Turtle Beach adapter for like 7 years now, and it still works like a charm! Highly recommend it or something similar, if it's too expensive for your liking.
Nope, I just bought an adapter for my controller. I got this one.
Turtle Beach Headset Audio Controller Plus for - Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_P500Z8MRMKF4Z86F6GEP
you should buy one of these. saves you a lot of money
Turtle Beach Headset Audio Controller Plus for Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_ZTS62KN3Z6RJTARYVHJC
I use this, works on Series X too.
To play through Xbox controller from the one and the one X, you need a adapter and then a mic.
This is the adapter: Turtle Beach Headset Audio Controller Plus for Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_SYJ0MBBCHE1DX5H93BVM
And the mic that I use: Cable Boom Microphone - Volume Control for Playstation PS4 or Xbox One Controller, PC - Boompro Gaming Mic Compatible with Bose QC25, QC35 II, QC35, QuietComfort 25/35 Headphones(150CM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W3W9LHV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_89KS97H6VXDYAPY43A36?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I know it's some money but to me it's worth it for the better sound quality and noise cancelling. But if you're on series X, I'm not entirely sure if the controllers changed where you don't need the adapter anymore. You'll have to find that out yourself. And for proof, I use the Bose qc25 for gaming on one X
or the LX1 replacement basically
I can recommend this Turtle Beach Headset Adapter.
Unfortunately, the mic monitoring built into the Xbox is terrible. The turtlebeach audio adapter gives you full and very noticeable mic monitoring.
Turtle Beach Headset Audio Controller Plus for Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_KFMS86EH3X335XTYX866
I used to use the adapter before I got my pair of Astro A40tr with the mix amp pro (works on both xbone and series x) I’ve heard some bad things about the newest gen of Astros but you can get the one I have used (couldn’t find new ones) for a decent price. I’m not sure how I’d feel about a used headset though personally.
ASTRO Gaming A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro TR for Xbox One
One of these adapters will make it fit with pretty much any headset, and you get a bunch of settings for audio
That’s odd. I bought this one Turtle Beach - Ear Force Headset... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00PWRYKDE?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share and it works fine with my Series X controller. I love it.
That's the one I'll end up getting if I need it
Whatever headphones you use add this Turtle Beach adapter. Makes everything sound even better.
Apple uses a different audio standard for their headphones. You need an adapter for the microphone to work. A lot of cheap OMTP to CTIA adapters you can find won't work. This Turtle Beach adapter should work but at that point you might as well buy a real headset:
There are two options..
1: Get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_9LnCFb002BKAP
2: Follow this: https://support.turtlebeach.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005565888-Recon-Chat-for-Xbox-Low-Volume-Xbox-One-Controllers-With-A-3-5mm-Headset-Jack
This adapter has mic monitoring built in, but it's $40: https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Headset-Controller-Superhuman-Hearing/dp/B00PWRYKDE
Also, the XO One headset has really good mic monitoring and mic quality (I owned one in the past): https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Force-Amplified-Gaming-Headset/dp/B00KSVXSZU
You're able to purchase the adapter all by itself. At least here in Canada it's like $40.
Edit: it's now $60 CAD.
Turtle Beach - Ear Force Headset Audio Controller Plus - Superhuman Hearing - Xbox One https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6CCHCbHB7BCE4
This? Wonder if that would thenissue.
I use a Turtle Beach - Ear Force Headset Audio Controller Plus — it does not turn off the HDMI audio. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_xgmpCbRJ6A3BG
Turtle Beach Headset Audio Controller Plus (Xbox One) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZbkrCbFYAKR71 and I’m currently just using my turtle beaches which are being held together with duck tape haha
I've been using this one for years without issue: https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Headset-Controller-Superhuman-Hearing/dp/B00PWRYKDE
Can the https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Headset-Controller-Superhuman-Hearing/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1521466022&sr=8-5&keywords=mic+adapter+xbox+one work with the vmoda boom pro? Or will it downgrade the quality?
Is this the one you are referring to?
This is what I use for Mic monitoring: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PWRYKDE/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_WvFlAbTDKFRF5
the turtle beach audio adapter lets you adjust your mic sensitivity for rooms of different noise level (noise cancelation). i have it its great. its only compatible with 3.5 jack. would be a good fix without having to get new headphones
Edit: this is the one i have
