Not an endorsement, but here. National brand, bound to be at least DECENT. :-)
I use the wax stick included with this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00062ZJ4O/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Just rub it on and buff it off until it's even, then cover with a wax. Not sure if you can buy the stick by itself I don't use the that wax.
Thanks for the part clarification. Technically we call them the encoder caps but are commonly known as the motor caps.
Those don't usually get scratched up, but the motor mounts which are next to the drive wheel gear/pulley, which is attached to the truck hanger, is what does get scratched up with use. Unless the aluminum was ground off below the level of the gear pulley (which is rare), they shouldn't need replacement.
If it is just the aesthetics of the scratches that bother you, you may try the little wax stick that comes with this: http://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Wax-T-374KTR-Color-Polish/dp/B00062ZJ4O/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1421105841&sr=8-4&keywords=chipstick
The polish also can help when you just get some pitting from sand hitting the motors and encoder caps.
Scratches on the bottom of skateboard hardware are kind of unavoidable. The mounts and caps are designed to withstand minor impacts from road debris and rocks.
Sure thing! I probably went a little overboard but just really wanted it to look better. So I bought three different creams hoping one would work.
Turtle Wax Scratch Repair and Renew Turtle Color Magic Car Polish Mothers Back-to-Black Liquid Trim and Plastic Restorer
This guy followed me out of the store after I’d bought the first two and told me I had to buy Mothers. He said it was the best thing. I can’t say which of the three worked the best, but I just kept rubbing them in with a buffer sponge until I liked the result. And I’m stoked it worked!
Here’s a before and after!
This stuff works great but you gotta be careful and get a small brush as well
