My recommendation would be to purchase a Ethernet Cable adapter for your switch. When I play on wifi, smash is literally unplayable. However with a wired connection I’ve had zero issues yet.

^ this is the one I have
you can get a random one on amazon for like 10 bucks. I got one for my wii u and it works on my switch as well.
edit:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MYT481C/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
this is the one I got, so I can guarantee it works on switch.
Correct. Also, I just barely got this one on Amazon. It's only $11 and it increased my speeds by about 10x from wireless.
I was using a ugreen adapter (like $10 on amazon) for the longest time. Works well enough if you keep the tv in "instant on" mode, but I still found myself having to reboot quite often because it would just dissapear. There are 3.0 versions now, but I believe this is the one I grabbed (sorry archived orders blank) https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethernet-Adapter-Nintendo-Chromebook/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1544402445&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=ugreen+ethernet+adapter+usb+2.0+roku
For those in the UK, this listing on amazon seems to be compatible with the switch judging from the reviews.
USB Ethernet adapter plugs right into the usb on the dock, the one I bought is $9 on Amazon, then you plug an ethernet cable from your router into the adapter which you can also get fairly cheaply on Amazon.
Yes, USB to Ethernet. Best Idea ever if you use the Switch not Mobile. For the Station. so its really good. I used it for the WiiU and now for the Switch. https://www.amazon.de/UGREEN-Netzwerk-Ethernet-kompatibel-unterst%C3%BCtzt/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1501233983&sr=8-2&keywords=nintendo+switch+lan+adapter
here is one but there are more of them in amazon. There is a Adapter sell from Nintendo but that is to expensive.
Why don’t you try to get an adapter for a Ethernet cable for the switch and connect to the internet that way? Here’s the link for one on amazon if not then send it in to get it checked and repaired
I had a similar problem, so got a usb network adapter 0 had to try 3 different ones before I found this one that 100% works !
hope that some help..
Sorry just woke up from a nap / here you go: UGREEN Ethernet Adapter USB 2.0 to 10 100 Network RJ45 LAN Wired Adapter Compatible with Nintendo Switch Wii Wii U MacBook Chromebook Windows Mac OS Surface Linux ASIX AX88772A Chipset Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_50V76YZ8KNASEJVVMZBC
it can only used wireless b/g/n on 2.4 band only. if you want to connect via ethernet use this: https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethernet-Adapter-Nintendo-Chromebook/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=sr\_1\_1\_sspa?keywords=wii%2Bu%2Blan%2Badapter&qid=1652296709&rnid=1248877011&s=electronics&sprefix=wii%2Bu%2Bla%2Celectronics%2C119&sr=1-1-s...
What others have said is correct. First troubleshoot then upgrade.
If I used a download speed calculator correctly, based on your 17.8MB/S speed and the 10.203GB file size that ACNH is, it should take 1.27 hours to download.
Obviously that’s not the case. The universal step 1 is to restart stuff. First restart your router, then your switch. If you have a modem, you might want to restart that, then router, then the switch.
Really, your router and modem are probably fine. You can know this by determining if other devices have a nice download speed too. So next is your switch. Power it down by holding the physical power button down until it gives you the option to shut down. Do that, the press the button to turn it back on.
Try again after reboots. If things still suck, try moving closer to your router.
If things still extra suck, maybe try an Ethernet connection. The switch doesn’t have one (though I think new docks do? Idk). However, I bought this and just plugged it in no problem to the dock and it works nicely.
Alternatively, it could be Nintendo’s servers. It is their spring sale after all so they could be busier than normal, which means slower download speeds because of all the traffic.
Usually this problems are related to USB power delivery... I don't experience with tp link but lookout for adapters with an asix Ethernet chipset like this one from ugreen: https://www.amazon.com/Adaptador-Ethernet-adaptador-compatible-Chromebook/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=3JWT80CEU2SQ0
This one works flawlessly but due to usb bandwidth sometimes wifi is faster unreliable but fast this adapter is slow but steady.

a daily reminder that if wifi players took $10 out of their sand eating budget then they could get an adapter
I used the information found in this article when I purchased a USB Ethernet Adapter for my StreamBar.
The adapter I purchased, linked below, was rock solid for me.
UGREEN Ethernet Adapter USB 2.0 to 10 100 Network RJ45 LAN Wired Adapter - ASIX AX88772 Chipset
Excerpted from the article:
>Speed: Streaming high-resolution content (like 4K HDR movies with Dolby Atmos) typically requires no more than 25 Mbps. Look for an adapter that supports 10/100 Mbps speeds. Adapters that support 1000 Mbps (Gig ethernet) will not work.
>
>Chipset: Find an adapter that has an AX8877X or SMSC95XX chipset. This information is typically available with the manufacturer specifications.

Some of my rigs have this issue.....Some dont
This was my fix. Got a few of these, and always connected.
I use HiveOS on BTC-S37 boards

Here buy this. It’s a usb Ethernet adapter and it fixed the problems I had as well. So in the Roku interface there should be an option that says "when the tv is turned on automatically go to such and such input" - activate that and it will skip your tv's OS and go straight to the external one.
That being said, if you wanted to still try Ethernet consider picking up an adapter like this for like $10 and worst case scenario it's easy to return if it doesn't work, or alternatively it could prove useful to just have around. The reason I mention this, is 4K content can often benefit from a dip-free connection.
Finally, Rokus have the option for setup in hotels and dorms - assuming the issue is one of those portals where you have to agree to some terms or sign in with an id and password - Roku has a way to do this - it will show you the login page on your phone or something to that effect.
Alternatively finally, you can get your MAC address of your TV and see if you can't get the IT to whitelist you. May have to ask really nicely.
Have you tried using a USB to ethernet adapter with your Wii?
Have you tried using a USB to ethernet adapter with your Wii or entering everything manually?
Unfortunately I didnt buy this one, I bought a 3rd party one and its worked fine for me.

I bought this from amazon UGREEN Ethernet Adapter, USB... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00MYT481C?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_shareon 1st march around release date. Been using it since never had any problems. Only 9.99 from amazon UK.
Name of product: "UGREEN Ethernet Adapter, USB 2.0 to 10/100 Network Adapter, USB to RJ45 Lan Wired Adapter for Nintendo Switch, Wii, Wii U, Macbook, Chromebook, Windows 10, 8.1, Mac OS 10.13, Surface Pro Linux Black"
I haven't heard of bogus ethernet adapters causing issues unless we're talking some no-name brand from Alibaba. There's a good chance you bought the same one as me from Amazon which hasn't given me problems: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MYT481C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1
What I suggest is to try out your other Switch games to test out their connection. Or you can setup a Battle Arena with competitive ruleset to attract someone who probably has a wired connection - or ask a friend/Discord rando to join your arena and test the lag. If it works, then it's the opponent's bad connection, but if it doesn't, it's something to do with yours.
The Switch HORI LAN adapter does not work with Wiis or Wii Us because it is a USB 3.0 only adapter, and Wii/Wii U only supports USB 2.0. If you get a generic USB 2.0 adapter like this you should have no problems.
In general I would say the generic LAN adapters are better than the HORI one, since the HORI only works on the Switch, and even on the Switch, it appears to get slower speeds than the generics (I have both and have tested both as well).
Are you sure it’s the computer port and not the cable itself? If it is the computer, you will probably have to reach out to HP support since DIYing this would be tough and would require electrical engineering competency. Not worth dropping another $600 on a new machine if this is the only problem. As a workaround, you can order a “USB 3.0 Ethernet Adapter” from Amazon or BestBuy that supports your high speed internet’s bandwidth. This solution would be your best bet. All the best.
This is what I use with my MacBook Pro for Ethernet: UGREEN Ethernet Adapter USB 2.0 to 10/100 Network RJ45 LAN Wired Adapter Compatible for Nintendo Switch, Wii, Wii U, MacBook, Chromebook, Windows, Mac OS, Surface, Linux ASIX AX88772 Chipset (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fab_eldBFbT979YB2
Honestly, I didn't do too much research. I looked up on Amazon converters and picked a cheaper one with good reviews.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MYT481C?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I've seen a dramatic improvement in stability and delay on the Switch with this one.
UGREEN Ethernet Adapter USB 2.0 to 10/100 Network RJ45 Lan Wired Adapter for Nintendo Switch, Wii, Wii U, Macbook, Chromebook, Windows 10, 8.1, Mac OS, Surface Pro, Linux ASIX AX88772 Chipset (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_jEPrCb6BEKYX5
You first get a USB LAN Adapter to connects to the USB plug in your switch dock. Nintendo makes and official one, but you can use a generic like this one. From there you simply plug in a ethernet cable from your Switch to your Router.
These are the exact same network cables you use for computers, and come in a couple different types with cat5e and cat6 being most common. For the purposes of basic home networking, there's really no advantage to paying more for a cat6 cable. Cat5 cables are relatively cheap, even for longer runs. An already terminated 100ft/30m cables should be under $20USD on Amazon, and you may not need one that long.
Why not try this one? I have the Hori one, but it this one seems like it should work

That's the one I'm using currently. It was hard to find a good connection in the first week, but my GSP was/is fairly low with Wolf (700k), so that's sadly kinda to expect, especially in the early days. Yesterday I was trying to play Chrom with an GSP about 1,4mill. I still got some huge lags with some players, but overall it was really smooth. I guess when the more dedicated players stay, the connection will be overall smoother.
If it's just the ethernet port that's gone, you should try something like this before you go and buy a whole new motherboard
It's a 100 Mb Ethernet adapter that will get the job done. They do have a gigabit version of this adapter, but the Switch currently doesn't support USB 3.0, and the only thing you would get out of it is faster download speeds for eShop games.
I used to have problems but changed my wifi and I can't remember the last time I disconnected.
I got an Ethernet adapter for ARMs which also eliminated my connection issues. I got this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MYT481C
Go with Ethernet if it's an option, even if your staring right at your access point while playing. This game has a zero tolerance policy. You only get like 2 game ticks before the room boots you. I don't blame the game for choosing to be less forgiving and more accurate. It encouraged me to make some changes and everyone I play with wins (emotionally) because of it.
I got a recommendation for a off brand adaptor on Amazon from this sub reddit that works great. I went from a 6mbps(wifi) to a 39mbps(wired). The adapter was $10 with free shipping.
UGREEN Ethernet Adapter USB 2.0 to 10/100 Network RJ45 Lan Wired Adapter for Nintendo Switch, Wii, Wii U, Macbook, Chromebook, Windows 10, 8.1, Mac OS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_nk7jJt2Ewrut5
Consider grabbing a cheap usb to ethernet adapter and playing with a wired connection while docked.
Interference comes from everything. Line of sight with the access point helps a lot though. If Ethernet is an option then do it. You can grab an adapter off amazon for $10.00USD.
I got this one recently. Works great. I stopped dropping games in ARMS as soon as I started using it.

First you need something like this to provide the port, but then you need to figure out how to network it as it sounds like you want to connect to your laptop which is tethered to your phone. I'm sure it's doable, but I'm not certain on how to set that up.
I've not bothered with the official adapter, I happened to have one of these USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapters lying around and it worked quite happily. Decided to test it when I saw your post. Can offer picture as proof if required.
does it have a USB port?
I actually have yet to make the wifi work on mine, but I can get internet from this USB-ethernet dongle.
I just plugged mine in and it worked. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MYT481C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If they use the same adapter as the Wii and Wii U, you can get a third party adapter for less than $10.
In fact, any adapter with the ASIX AX88772 chipset should work if that's the case.
I woke up this morning, turned my Mi Box on and realized the Ethernet was no longer connected. I had the wifi toggled off too. I am experiencing the same issue as you. Once I rebooted, Ethernet was connected again.
This is the one I have: Ugreen USB 2.0 to 10/100 Fast Ethernet Lan Wired Network Adapter for Macbook, Chromebook, Windows 10, 8.1 and Earlier, Mac OS X 10.11,Surface Pro, Wii, Wii U, Linux ASIX AX88772 Chipset (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_tPMCybXFK95A2
tl;dr: Of how to get Splatoon running well easily but for money (which will also benefit every other internet enabled device in your home!).
Step 1) If you're using an ISP provided modem (or heaven forbid modem/router combo), take it and chuck it ~~in the garbage~~ into their returns center. Replace this with a new (new in box, not used), ISP compatible modem.
Step 2) If your router is from 2010 or early, it's time to upgrade. If you don't have one because it was in your Modem provided by an ISP. . . Well, you need to get one (also new!).
Step 2.5 (OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED IF YOU POSSES THE TECHNICAL APTITUDE)) Install an alternate firmware (OpenWRT, DD-WRT, etc) to your router.
Step 3) Get an Ethernet Adaptor for your Wii U.
Step 4) Get a line of at least CAT-5e (just about any ethernet cable you'll find in store long enough to reach from your router to your Wii U (so long as that's less than 100 meters), and plug them into each other.
Step 5) Set your Wii U to run off the new shiny wired connection!
Step 6) If running your Wii U on a wired connection is not an option, nor is purchasing about $150~200 in network equipment viable. Send me a PM and I can help you make the best of it.
cat 5.e and I have lenovo yoga with a gpu and its able to run csgo fine when i have a decent connection(120+ fps), but im using this ethernet to usb adapter since my laptop doesn't have a ethernet port, do you think that's causing any problems.
YES YES YES. This is it - a well researched guide from someone that has clearly read the USB specs and have used a bunch of USB C products. I thought I might have to put something like this together but you've done a great and more comprehensive job than I could have.
Some reactions:
> Do all Qualcomm Quick Charge chargers support 5V/1.5A USB-BC fallback? Is that guaranteed by the Quick Charge spec?
> The Nintendo charger doesn't seem to advertise 9V output. Does it really not support 9V? I don't currently have a Pixel or USB-PD sniffer to check this with. The Nintendo charger seems to support 5V/1.5A and 15V/2.6A, but it doesn't seem to support 5V/3.0A or 9V/3.0A. Doesn't this violate the USB-PD spec for Power Rules?
> Arstechnica complained about compatibility with the Jackery Titan S battery bank but that doesn't make much sense to me. Can anyone confirm if it works well from the USB-C port? My best guess is maybe they were using one of the USB-A ports with an A-to-C cable.
Once we have more practical data in to support the (safe) assumptions you've made around the voltage/current combinations, I think it would be good to simplify/clarify for the folks here on r/NintendoSwitch/ the obvious permutations of charging--I see three key use case variations most users will come across:
Does this summation sound right to you?
Another worthwhile note is that -- I see a lot of Redditors here solely relying on the advertise voltage/current/wattage specifications to inform their purchasing decisions. While a reasonable assumption, unfortunately the USB C market is not mature enough for the advertised information to be relied upon and for any given USB C implementation to be trusted. I think this needs to be highlighted. Manufacturers have been known to both lie about their specs and improperly implement the USB C/PD specs so unfortunately for now, advertised voltage/current/power is not sufficient as a sole means of identifying worthwhile accessories.--this needs to be shouted from every rooftop.
Anyway, kudos on the write up, this deserves to be stickied on every Nintendo Switch forum.
Edit: Capturing subreddit threads to people offering practice power draw data:
Not all adapters work, this one has been tested and does work: https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethernet-Adapter-Nintendo-Chromebook/dp/B00MYT481C
I bought this one some time ago and it worked perfectly fine amazon
Have you checked "Nintendo lan adapter" on amazon.

I have noticed that when I plug the adapter into my computer and sent internet through it, two lights come on on the adapter whereas only one light comes on using the Wii. This might mean that it is an issue with the adapter, but it could also mean that internet isn't making it to the Wii because of an issue with the Wii. I'll buy the adapter you suggested and try it out. Hopefully that's all it is and some headache inducing issue with the Wii itself.
Is the Wi-Fi you're trying to connect to 802.11ac/5 GHz? Wii U only supports as new as 802.11n/2.4 GHz.
If you don't have Wi-Fi problems with any of your other devices, idk.
If you just want to use the eShop occasionally, it might be enough to share a PC's Wi-Fi. Microosft's instructions; or it that doesn't work, I like HostedNetworkStarter. The latency might be a bit much for online multiplayer, especially Smash or Splatoon.
Ethernet is another option, though you will need a USB adapter. One of the replies on this post say that basically anything labelled to work with a Wii or Wii U should do. And one of these replies say anything with a ASIX AX88772 chipset. Here's a $8.50 one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethernet-Adapter-Nintendo-Chromebook/dp/B00MYT481C
Ugreen is a popular one. It’s only 100Mbps but the Switch doesn’t do much better than that anyway. Though they also have a gigabit version if you want it
This post has some more examples of ones that will work. I believe they’re all US links, but you should be able to find most of them on Amazon UK as well
Not OP, but here's the one that just popped up on my Amazon homepage since I viewed it yesterday, less than $10: https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethernet-Network-Adapter-Chromebook/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=s9u_simh_gw_i4
Any USB Ethernet adapter will work. It doesn't have to be Nintendo brand. Amazon brand is $10.
Edit: Amazon one actually won't work. These two will:
https://www.amazon.ca/UGREEN-Ethernet-Nintendo-Chromebook-Raspberry/dp/B00MYT481C
It was something like this. Might have even been this exact one. They work great. They just plug into the back of the console.
It is called Multiview, multiviewer, multi-viewer, or multi-view. Need to double check that you are not getting an hdmi splitter.
I got this one: HDMI multiview on Amazon
Here is my set up: - 2 modded wiis with nintendont and BBA emulation "on." - 2 usb to ethernet adapters (UGREEN Ethernet Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MYT481C?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) - one router - 2 ethernet cables connected to the router and wiis - 8 gamecube controllers - 2 Wii2HDMI adapters (from offer up).
Connect the HDMIs cables from the wiis to the multviewer in slot 1 and 2.
Connect the multiviewer to the TV (the bigger and wider, the better).
Open Mario Kart double dash, LAN mode, 4 players oer console.
The TV display will be split in two equal parts, then those parts will be split in 4 parts each, totaling 8 players.
Depending on how wide the TV is and TV settings, the characters will be a bit more slim, but it is still playable and fun.
I got this one recently and works with Wii, Wii U and Switch
hope that some help ethernet adapter -
This is the one I use on my Wii and WiiU
https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethernet-Adapter-Nintendo-Chromebook/dp/B00MYT481C/
buy an Ethernet adapter such as this one and use a wired connection, some newer WiFi networks don't work with the Wii anymore

They will typically say compatible with Wii OR with Wii U/Switch. They do not interchange.
Some devices (TVs, Soundbars, etc) are compatible with USB-to-Ethernet adapters, such as this one - https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethernet-Adapter-Nintendo-Chromebook/dp/B00MYT481C

Yes. I bought this USB ethernet adapter for my Wii and connected it to my router with an ethernet cable, and my Wii is able to connect to the internet again.
The adapter is this: https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethernet-Adapter-Nintendo-Chromebook/dp/B00MYT481C
They need to have a specific chipset. I personally use this one.
If your Wii connects to your WiFi, or you don't plan on playing online, then you don't necessarily need it.
That looks like one of the new cards. Support was added for them by Intel into kernel version 5.1
However because Android uses an older kernel version you do not benefit from this new kernel. You can confirm this fact by running the latest release of Ubuntu which comes with a much newer kernel.
So support your card is here, but is coming soon to Android.
As for what you can do in the meantime, the easiest answer is a USB dongle for Wifi. Any of the ones from Panda Wireless will work straight out of the box - hit products at the top of the page for a full list there's different sizes and speeds available, ones with external antennae, etc. That's probably your best bet for Wifi.
Near any USB to Ethernet dongle should work too. For example: Ugreen or Anker or even just AmazonBasics.
That's not ideal but I mean it's better than waiting for Google to start using the newer kernel.
Any USB one basically works. I got this one for like 10 bucks on Amazon, works great. 10/100 speeds, but i don't think the switch can go faster than 100 anyways. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MYT481C

This one is currently recommended by our staff.
Nope, that is too new. That has the AX88179 chip (as can be seen in the product description). You need one with the AX88772 chip, like this one: https://www.amazon.de/UGREEN-Netzwerk-Ethernet-kompatibel-unterst%C3%BCtzt/dp/B00MYT481C
Tbh, what i did i decided to go with ethernet instead of wireless. I got this adapter.
Might be the adapter, I recommend getting this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MYT481C?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Also I find sometimes that some ethernet ports have better connections than others so try switching the ports from time to time
This is what me and my friends have. No issues and pretty cheap.

2- Game cube controllers, Do any USB(unlicensed) game cube controllers work with the switch? Or do i need to buy either the USB converter or the Switch Game cube controllers?
Thanks!
I got a generic one off amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MYT481C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This adapter should work.
So $13.99 (at the time of writing) is inconvenient for you?

Because if it is, then you probably should have saved your money and not bought a Switch.
Frankly the cheapest option for you is to just use your existing Type-C to DP cable to plug your monitor directly into your laptop.
Then just use USB-A to ethernet for your internet:
I've been using the official HORI lan adapter since I found it on clearance at a Walmart randomly. Currently they go for $30.
If you don't want to pay so much for first party, this one on amazon has a lot of positive reviews so I'd check it out https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Ethernet-Adapter-Nintendo-Chromebook/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=pd_lpo_23_t_2/139-4079997-8969305?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00MYT481C&pd_rd_r=c4795619-3a3e-4d46-989f-ec6d1f6e1404&pd_rd_w=Icl4L&pd_rd_wg=q4RUN&pf_rd_p=7b36d496-f366-4631-94d3-61b87b52511b&pf_rd_r=4Q2DMX00Y2AKVX902FGQ&refRID=4Q2DMX00Y2AKVX902FGQ&th=1
Also found this one on Amazon that has a couple reviews about CH
You can try those but it's possible that no compatible drivers exist since your PC is so old. In that case your only option is getting a USB to Ethernet adapter.

Is it possible to use one of this along with regular Ethernet cable as Console cable.

Good is subjective, but the one that I have is this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MYT481C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it works just fine.
You don't have to get the Nintendo one at least, most any USB adapter works with the switch.
I got this one and it works fine: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MYT481C/
I bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MYT481C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and my online matches are still so laggy...any suggestions? Have I just had terrible luck matching with people with bad connections?
> Because this laptop doesn't have an ethernet port
I bought this one last year and it works perfectly fine
Try picking up one of these!
I bought one of these: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MYT481C/

You need a USB to Ethernet adapter in order to use an ethernet cable with the Switch. I recommend either this ethernet adapter (USB 2.0 version) or this ethernet adapter (USB 3.0 version).
If you want to find something cheaper, the general rule is that if it works with the Wii/Wii U, it will work with the Switch.
If your router/modem and Switch dock are in separate rooms, you need to run an ethernet cable between the router/modem and your dock.
Purchased this yesterday https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGREEN-Ethernet-Network-Nintendo-Chromebook/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1504184067&sr=8-1&keywords=usb+to+lan+switch arrived today and it works flawlessly for me
I've had 12/13 games perfect using this $9 USB Ethernet adapter even on mediocre DSL. Didn't have to set DMZ. Worked out of the box. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MYT481C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_DbIbzb85TTGJD
Could be a problem with your router's wifi.
You might want to test with a USB to Ethernet adapter
This one works. Plugged it into dock then plugged cable in . No setup required for me

Confirmed working with this adapter.
Probably not.
This one is working for me.
