It's a little bit big on the inside though (hence the crocheted case). But it does have a velcro panel that you can adjust to make it a snugger fit.
This is my recomendation, the charger fits but I think I does some pressure into the vita itself. The Vita 1000 fits perfectly with my r2 l2 grip

The Waterfield stuff is premium and all, but I want something I know will actually protect it, and isn't some expensive sock.
Assuming that he means a travel case, Amazon Travel Case should work. The ploopy is 5.5" * 3.5" * 1.5", so it should fit inside that with room to spare for cables and possibly storing the ball separately.

This is a decent mighty carrier/storage. You can fit the device, the charger, a round of caps, cleaning brush, accessories etc. You can play around with the arrangement.

And I’m very happy with the fit. I bought the Pocket’s hardshell protector and it fits in the bottom compartment. It has pouches that fit the cartridges and a zippered top for cables and things (like the adapters). I managed to also fit the 18W power adapter in the bottom next to the hard case, but you mileage may vary depending on how full you try to stuff it.
I bought and using this one for a few months
Backbone fits easily inside, it moves a bit left and right, but not an annoying amount.
It also has space for a few more things on the top lid.
I'm looking for a waterproof hard-ish case for my medical stuff and other important stuff. I'm currently using one of those travel organizers which is a good size and rigidity but not waterproof. I have to carry vials of insulin and insulin pumps so it's pretty important that everything stays intact, even if my bag takes a tumble. Ideally something like a pelican case but... ultralight.
