Same, except I use these switches on my outlets. Been doing it for years with no issues. Since I only use VR like once a month, it's better than keeping them in sleep mode all the time.
> For one, whenever I plug in my laptop, there is often a small spark. This was common before too, except now the plug prongs are starting to turn black on the edges. I don't recall seeing this until I moved. Any idea why it's occurring? Is it better to keep the laptop plugged in?
That's from inrush current. First of all, I would simply replace the cord. Beyond that, my strategy would be to add a switch before the plug. Make sure it's in the open position, and then plug the laptop in, and then close the switch.

Here you go.
I dont have my G2 yet (pre ordered 8/19) but I heard about this a couple weeks ago and went and got these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y1V7C1Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
they are plugs with a switch on them so you can switch the power off without having to constantly plug and unplug your power connector. Maybe this will help. I just have one of these plugged into a power strip socket.
This is a good point, bluetooth power management should be off when running multiple HMDs in the same space. As a result you will have to manually unplug the lighthouses at the end of your sessions. I use this to make it less tedious: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y1V7C1Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
OP, try this before my suggestion I posted.
For the AV stuff it’s just a power bar but for the smaller appliances that only require a single plug I picked up these.

To switch things off...when not in use...!
Super handy!
The switch with the cord and button is for hard to reach things, but remember, an Electric Field will STILL be present on the cord, even if switched off,.
I use both types of switches liberally...Laser Printer...scanner...inkjet printer....kitchen appliances...etc.
Ps. Throw out any microwave ovens. They leak like a sieve. All of them...! Never found one that doesn't! You'll see!
Yes - everything should be attached to a GFCI plug. I used an in-line switch to turn the filter pump on and off because the GFCI outlet I have doesn't have an on/off button on it.
Here's one like the one I'm using:
