The very best tool I have found for this is the kind of letter-opener that looks sort’ e like a deformed @ sign?
Here is an example from Amazon (NOT an affiliate link)

Here are some conditioners I've seen recommended: Cowboy Magic - conditioner "The Stuff For Dogs" conditioner Pet Silk Liquid Silk Serum ** note that many of these products can make your floors a skating rink, ideally apply outdoors and wait until fully dry to bring pup inside. You can join Facebook's Samoyed Grooming - lots of breeders and experienced show folks answer questions posed there. If you are unable to detangle and combing is becoming painful to your pups, or are having matting problems, or have a spay/neuter coat, or if you aren't able to dry the skin under impacted fur and are risking hotspots, you could cut into it very slightly with thinning shears, use a Mars Coat King, or break up any mats close to the skin with a letter opener like this https://smile.amazon.com/Uncommon-Desks-Colorful-Letter-Openers/dp/B07QD3BYH7/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=plastic+letter+opener&qid=1628559794&sr=8-3
A flea comb, or if they're absolutely stuck, a letter opener like this one to softly cut one or two strands to loosen the knot
My cat sitter recommended a mail opener like this - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QD3BYH7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_7ZYPP6NR6CVJJX4C0VZB
They work super well and are safe!
Ours came with a letter opener, which might be the same thing you’re talking about.
