It's heavier than what most people will hike with, but it's good for 5 full charges on my iphone. I haven't tried it with a gopro. With a big usb battery you can go many days without an outlet. Charging it up will be easy on your town/resupply trips.
how do you plan to move all your data? I'd run out of storage before power.

I tried to give you an actual solution to your dilemma and I know firsthand that a pi will run 12 hr on that charge.
If you actually want to understand how nonexistent battery management is on linux, just buy a laptop and install arch linux on it. Linux is a powerful operating system and by default does not throttle itself. Imagine if you had to run android on a desktop, or a server. It would be terrible.
I've been debating getting a water resistant/waterproof battery pack and solar panels. I'm outside a lot already and have done a few kayaking trips, camping trips, etc. Seems like most the battery packs I find have small/weak solar panels that I likely won't get use out of.
