2x4 would be great for the light you already have. Than you can just get 1 or preferably 2 more and you are set. If you want to save money just buy 2 of the lights I have. 100w for $41 https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD
Yeah those aren't going to work all the way through the grow. It'll be okay for seedlings and even than you'll have to keep the light within 1r inches probably MUCH closer. You'd be better off with led bulbs from Walmart. If you are on a budget this is the lights I use untill my spider farmer arrives. Uf2000. 100w for $41. Hopefully it's available in your country. https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD
2x Unit Farm UF2000 100w they are super cheap but still decent. Just not the best coverage. Maybe 1.5ftx1.5ft per light for flowering. I paid around $55 last year but now they are $41 https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD
No. I have 2 of these and they are 100w. I'll be adding the second one when they get bigger. I'll be flowering between 4 and 6 auto flowers in the tent depending on how big they get. The 2 in pots are bag seed gelato that I'm going to put outside when I run out of space. These are the lights https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=S8IS9RP71MMV&keywords=uf2000&qid=1659827697&sprefix=uf2000%2Caps%2C213&sr=8-3
The light pictured? It's a unit farm uf2000 100w. I actually have 2 and will add the second light as needed. This is the light https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=S8IS9RP71MMV&keywords=uf2000&qid=1659827697&sprefix=uf2000%2Caps%2C213&sr=8-3
Hell yeah. That's enough for a 2x2 to flower. Is it a decent light? Mine were only $40 each and lots of people use them and they are amazing for the price and overall. Unit farm uf2000 https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD
Looks very healthy. Ever consider adding a cheap led light? The one I use is 100w and $41. There's a 60w that's even cheaper $30. I have 2 100w and plan to order another. https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?crid=8NDLWDQRNQWA&keywords=unit+farm+led&qid=1659636862&sprefix=unit+farm%2Caps%2C101&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhb...
Bro save $40 and buy this light AT LEAST. You are most likely wasting your time. You may get an 8th off that plant. https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?adgrpid=114594384934&gclid=CjwKCAjwrZOXBhACEiwA0EoRDzjXpF3FW2DVnipsRip13On3xou4sOkHS0hPGhZ_WSB_c_13gMACfxoCGf8QAvD_BwE&hvadid=489131407152&hvdev...
Old thread I know but you could probably help. I have 2 of these lights currently in my 2x2 tent. I could fit 2 more. Would that be overkill? 4x100w unit farm in a 2x2 tent? Also they are only $40 bux https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD
You may want to look into something that’s full spectrum. Those purple lights are okay for seedlings and clones but not so great for mature plants. Something like this would probably be your best bet.
UNIT FARM Upgraded 100W Grow Lights, UF2000 Osram LED Grow Light, 3500K Full Spectrum Indoor Plant Light, for 2x2FT Herb Seedling, 3x3FT Microgreens https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JCQ6SGD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_1G43TA2QTEPN2R4PNCM6
Not sure what kind of budget you're on. If you're willing to spend some money I've heard good things about HLG and spider farmer. If you're trying to save some money I have one of these and it's worked very well for me so far.
MF100 vs Unit Farm UF2000 ?
UNIT FARM UF2000 LED Grow Lights, Full Spectrum Growing Lamps with 368 OSRAM Diodes for Indoor Plant Hydroponic Grow System for 3x3FT Microgreens, 2x2FT herb Seedling Veg Flowering (Out-Put 100W) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JCQ6SGD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_KJ7B08ZTZHV1TV1A0N4J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I’d go this route but their 4000 will suit u better
yeah, sure. i just figured more light is better, so kept adding more and more panels. the PPFD (photosynthetic photon flux density) is now pretty close to outdoor summer light accross my entire grow area. when choosing a light you want to look for the PPFD heatmap. it shows how many photons in the right spectrum are hitting your plants at a given distance. for an adult trichocereus to survive without struggling, you need like 500ppfd. but for them to really thrive and put on seripus size, you want to get it up as close to 1000ppfd as possible. you can get this kind of output from cannabis grow panels. im classifying an adultvtrichocereus as a plant like 2" diameter for bridgesii and 3" diameter for pachanoi/peru
all of the lights i purchased were what i deemed to be the best bang for the buck at the time of purchase, regardless of brand.
also, there is a cool app for android (maybe iphone too?) called photone. its in free beta version now and turns your phone into an incredibly accurate PARR meter (measures PPFD), as opposed to spending hundreds of dollars to buy one.
my first light was a Unit Farms UF2000. its a solid light and kicks out over 800ppfd at the center of the panel at a 12" distance. its like $40 on amazon. but keep in mind the light intensity drops off drastically the further you get from the light and further away from center you move. so like between 1 - 3 adult trichos might be ok under this light if you cram them close together and they are not too big. this light also has IR (infrared) diodes in addition to visible light.
the next light i got was the unit farms UF3000. slightly bigger. does 1500 PPFD at center of panel. like $100. this one has IR & UV diodes. UF 3000
then i got a Groplanner O-series. which again does over 1500ppfd at center @ 12" distance. this one is like $89. you can also clip 4 panels together to make one giant light. this one also has IR, (not sure about UV) if i had to do it all over again, i would probably just buy these and keep adding more as time went on so i didnt need to build a custom fixture.
the last little light in the picture was just some cheap thing i picked up that claimed to have a big output, but doesnt. it actually worked out ok, because i keep my periskiopsis and seedling grafts in that corner and they cant handle too much light.
hopefully that answers a bunch of questions for you. feel free to ask if you have more.
If tou are on a budget then theres these or these. https://www.amazon.com/progress-tracker/package/ref=pt_redirect_from_gp?_encoding=UTF8&from=gp&itemId=ohnmpuqsknpqun&orderId=114-5490752-9278638&packageIndex=0&shipmentId=152681365186301 https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=17L0LT1RC0GF4&keywords=uf2000&qid=1662818543&sprefix=uf2000%2Caps%2C103&sr=8-3
That lights not going to cut it either. I hope thats not the new one. This light is 20x better. Only $42 for 100w. https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD
Whats your budget? I love these 100w for $41. Perfect for 1 plant. Its got a remote driver which is good. https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD if you can spend more I have better suggestions.
2 of these it you are on a budget. They are 100w. I have 2 on a 2x2. Literally can't beat the price for a good light. https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD
Get a uf2000 it's only $41 and 100w. https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD
The problem with my light is it only has optimal ppfd in 1.2 square feet. That's why I'm going to use more wattage. https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD
For the price it's unbeatable. https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD
i grow indoor under lights year round. im in New Jersey. my collection is small enough i dont even bother bringing it outside. the important thing here is when we say lights. we mean REAL lights. like stuff you can grow cannabis with. recently there have been a good number of inexpensive lights come out that have the output needed. you can find something for a single plant for about $50. but the reality is, you are not going to have 1 plant for long, so better to buy a slightly larger light. when looking at lights, if they dont have a PAR or PPFD map showing light intensity and spread, dont even bother looking at it. PAR is photosynthetically active radiation. PPFD is the unit of measure for par and is photosynthetic photon flux density. it basically tells you how many photons (energy that can be converted via photosynthesis to growth) are hitting the plant at a given distance from the light.
to be able to grow adult trichocereus, you want a light that outputs at least like 500 ppfd at the center of the panel at a 12" distance, and then hang the light pretty close to the plant. less than 12" is best. best case scenario to grow a fat cactus (like 4" diameter) indoors, you need to be up near 1000ppfd
here is a link to a few lights that i have personally used. they are Unit Farm brand and are basically replica Spider Farmer lights. i have both the UF2000 (currently $42), and the UF3000 currently ($99) both of these LED panels have Infrared diodes in addition to a heavy blue spectrum of light (good for vegetative growth. red light better for flowering). the larger one also has a UV diode.
UNIT FARM - UF2000 & UF3000
i also just bought another light, but havent used it yet. though specs say its better than the UF3000 and was the same price. Groplanner O-series 150w
other advice would be to add a reflective cover to nearby surfaces to reflect back as much light as possible, or get a grow tent.
i have some other posts in my profile of my setup with pictures and discussing how my setup is mounted.
Great light for $41 https://www.amazon.com/Spectrum-UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD
I just connected with a group selling UF UNIT_FARM 1000 Selling on amazon They sponsored me with a UF 1000.... They look pretty good. I like the specs. Ordered yesterday, Should be here tomorrow. You should check out the UF2000...https://www.amazon.ca/UNIT-FARM-Coverage-Power-Draw-Hydroponic/dp/B08JCQ6SGD/ref=sr_1_11?dchild=1&keywords=uf2000&qid=1626474931&sr=8-11
