The issue it seems is that the chipsets in the single drive enclosures are firmware dependent for large drive support -- so depending on manufacturer and date of production you could be getting an older firmware.

The docking stations tend to have newer chipsets or are newer products and guarantee their drive size support.

The reasons it was more helpful to give me a link are:

1. I didn't know you were in the UK so searching on US amazon I got completely different products
2. I could find out the chipsets in the enclosures and read the datasheets for them
3. I could see what you were searching for
