On the DeWALT, I'm using a silicone coupler that's used for turbo installations in cars. It's such a simple solution and won't break, no matter what I do. Plus, it was cheap. Link below will give you an idea. I went for the 2.5" > 1.75". 2.5" fits nice and snug on the DeWALT and the Festool hose fits snugly inside the smaller end.

I'm not entirely clear on the 36/32 thing, but it seems the hose actually tapers from one end to the other. I need to measure that...
