Try using these things. They're actually brushes, but they're super gentle on the kitty and it makes them feel like you're just petting them. They may not be quite as good as a Furminator brush, but for general maintenance it should work!

I use the gloves twice a week and a rake that I just bought at pet smart called “Chi for dogs double sided shedding rake”. I had read a few post about using a rake from other people on reddit and decided to give it a try.

Your cat will enjoy the petting and it’ll collect a lot of the hair.
Brush your dogs coat more often. Amazon sells a great product that my Alice loves. Essentially they are gloves designed to remove excess hair.

You might try Grooming Gloves. I have a cat that hates being brushed and tolerated, even likes these because it is just like being petted.
It is a pet grooming glove! They are wonderful and extremely effective (she says most effective I have for her feet). I'm not sure if those are the exact ones, but it looks like they are, but you can find them at any pet store or just search pet grooming glove and a myriad of choices will pop up! XD
I had rescue kittens who were almost feral and I purchased the love glove from Amazon. They don’t want to be held but they want to be petted and now demand grooming. We have had our GSD for 3.5 years through the ups and downs of scratching we tried litterly everything we could think of from diet to furnace filter to vacuuming everyday and vet visits, he was on cytopoint for 2 years that worked great but as allergy season came around this year we had a chance to try something new, his last cytopoint was the end of December, as he started itching his legs and arms this I started thinking, he would never let me brush his arms with a brush as it would most likely be uncomfortable and wouldn't get much hair off him at all. For 3 years we have been thinking he had seasonal allergies or food allergies but we never gave up.
These gloves are so amazing at getting the hair off the arms legs and just overall back. We do use a deshedding brush and a regular brush so far he hasn't itched other then a normal itch and stops. For anyone wanting to try something new give this a try it worked for us and he's now enjoying everything that was taken away due to thinking it was allergies.

I brush my cat a few times a week. She loves it and doesn’t shed at all.

My cats quite like the grooming glove I bought.
It's got small silicon teeth and you can wear it so it's more like you're just petting. The silicon is more gentle on older cat skin.
It won't work to get mats out but with your boy's short coat, the glove might feel really nice for him. If he gets the occasional mat I'd use the wire flat brush (far left in your pic) to gentle loosen.
🐈
I did this for a while and then found the glove brush. Tricks my kitty into thinking he's getting extra pets! Works waaaaay better than this and no terror from a regular brush.
Maybe it’s too harsh for him? The tines(?) look like they might be pokey an/or they might snag My parents’ long-haired cat liked this one https://www.amazon.com/Upgrade-Version-Pet-Grooming-Glove/dp/B01N9KSITZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=1RL1QDI7DXS9O&dchild=1&keywords=cat+brush+gloves+for+long+haired+cats&qid=1634490480&sprefix=cat+brush+glove&sr=8-3
Definitely not a furminator. He doesn't like brushes with handles so i just use a rubber glove. Kind of like this but not as good quality
ok #1 cut back on the baths - once a week is way too much (barring any allergies or medical reasons, which it doesn't sound like your pup has). While they're good for getting hair out, it's drying your puppy's skin out so that could increase the dander coming off. better thing to do is do a lot more brushing. a grooming glove can help given that your pup has shorter fur or a raking brush (although some dogs don't love those). We used to do the grooming glove, then a comb on our short haired dog.
Then, get a lint roller, so you can cut back on the laundry, and start banning the pup from rooms you desperately don't want hair in, ie maybe your bedroom and bathroom? so you get a little bit of reprieve. A vacuum would probably be easier to use than your broom for picking up the fur so i'd get a good vacuum.
unfortunately though, with heavy shedding dogs at some point you hit a limit with how much you can do. good luck!!
I really like this kind Glove Brush. Those little nubs do a great job of holding the hair, and you can pull it off the glove in a mat to throw it away.
Here is one on Amazon.
We got one for our cats, and it's truly great. Works better on our short haired cat than on our long haired cat.
Here's a pair - has more and better reviews than the single.
I got these gloves and she’ll stay still for some petting once a day
I recommend these
Have you tried one of those glove brushes? Maybe Choo Choo will like that because it's just like being stroked?

Have you tried different types of brushes? Mine tolerates the grooming glove best. Look around for best rated one, but here is the first search result: here
something like this but with needles!
These gloves have been amazing for my two Frenchies 😊
She is precious! I have a long haired cat and we use a combination of a grooming mit and a small slicker brush. The slicker brush is effective at getting mats out of the hair and the smaller size is great for reaching under his armpits and down between his legs. I brush 2x per week and use the gloves 1-2x in between brushing. The gloves really only help pull out the loose fur and minimize shedding. Make sure you work on desensitizing to having the nails clipped if this is something you plan to do. My cat was older when we brought him home and it was a battle every time. You have to really search for the nails in all of that fur! We use this nail clipper once every other week on his front paws only. I’d also keep an eye on the butthole area, it can get matted very quickly especially if they are having poop get caught it in when they go (our old cat had this issue, new one did for a while because of digestive issues but is fine now). Good luck!
I love these silicone gloves! My cats come running when I get them out and flip over begging to be brushed. They get a lot of hair too!
Hmmm based on the coat i'd suggest trying a grooming glove. also, a tip from a friend was brush them out before the bath, then bathe with a zoom groom brush, then after the bath comb. The brushing before the bath helps loosen up fur to be brushed out later. A blow drier will also help loosen up fur but some dogs don't like it. When we had our ridgeback (who sheds a lot) we would do the grooming glove + comb and it worked pretty well.
Get the silicone gloves. Like these: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01N9KSITZ/
Use them every day for two or three days, and then maybe once or twice a week depending on the cat.
You could try a cat brushing glove, it may be easier for you to accomplish your task while he’s biting/scratching.
If he’s got a favourite treat you could give him some throughout the brushing. It may calm him.
Feliway is something that helps to calm cats. Might be worth trying during brushing, and any other time he gets stressed.
My cat goes through cycles of shedding worse, usually at the start of summer when she drops her winter coat but really it's hairy everyday here. I got these gloves off amazon which cut down on the shedding 80%, fantastic and so quick to use everyday on her. I also got rid of bulky furniture that was hard to sweep, vacuum and mop around so I did that more often. I'm too cheap for a roomba but that's a thing you could look into as well, and a hair scraper like this for furniture perhaps.

These are similar to the ones I have, but multiple companies make them. They make more form fitting ones too.
I have these. They work really well and, to the cat, it’s just like getting pets.
Furminator.
Or a pair of these
Also that's not dirt, thats probably dried blood fyi.
You aren't asking for our opinions, but I dont really think cats should have their hair cut...ever...and even washing them is questionable. There are dry wipes for cats and even a slightly damp towel can be used.
