Just a heads up, unless you specifically care about the ethernet port, it doesn't look like this is that insane of a price. This dongle has all the same ports except for a SD card reader instead of a ethernet port and it's currently $12.50. I cannot speak for it's quality but it was the first result on amazon when searching for USB C dongles. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08MZZVFX6/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Hi there. I ordered and used this exact card reader for my iPad Air with USB-C port and my Sony a6000. Depending on which iPad model you have, I'd imagine you could find a reader by this brand with a lightning end, or get a lightning-to-USB-C adapter.
>Not only likely... but most definitely the issue is that HDD. Your mac is powering that thing, even when asleep. You need a hub with power like this.

>Either that or disconnect the drive when not in use.
>Ok in your situation you will probably want to get a multifunction USB-C hub with HDMI output. Then you can plug your external drive and monitor into the single USB-C port. There *should* be enough bandwidth available to handle both without issue but you *might* run into a bottleneck if your monitor is 4k60.

>Something like this should work
...but there's hundreds of other options available on amazon, just search "usb c hub hdmi"
I personally would get one that has more than one other type of port on it.
With this one, you trade one port for HDMI, and if you have the 2 port model MacBook, would only have one left.
There are so many options out there:
I got this so I can connect other peripherals and it has a USB c passthrough. Works like a charm. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MZZVFX6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Sure thing. I was wrong about the less than $20 though. It is $20 currently.
USB C Hub, USB Hub to HDMI... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MZZVFX6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I just grabbed this one Hubhttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MZZVFX6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
This isn't a dock - but you plug it into the USB C port of your Samsung phone, and you get HDMI and USB ports and more. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08MZZVFX6/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o00\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This works great - gives you a full size HDMI port, as well as other ports:

This works great and is $20 - you plug it into the USB C port of the phone, and you get HDMI as well as multiple USB ports. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08MZZVFX6/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Well it could be different things.
Like I mentioned I'm not 100% sure what would be compatible, but ultimately it will be something like this:

This claims to be compatible with Switch and is minimalistic:

Ahh, missed that! I've looked into those but always just ended up With my phone.

That plus a microsd-to-sd adapter would do the job!
With an Android phone, I just use a usbc hub. One usb cable from camera to hub, one from hub to SSD, and plug the hub into my phone. I can copy directly from SD to SSD using my phone as a pass-thru / file manager. Not sure if this is possible w/ an iphone.

Thanks for the info! It almost seems like I'm better off just getting a DeX hub like this instead of an HDMI+PD adapter like this. It seems like the only advantage of the HDMI+PD one is the simplicity.
