Fifine has a cardioid microphone that is a good, cheap, and easy to start with.
USB Microphone,Fifine Metal Condenser Recording Microphone for Laptop MAC or Windows Cardioid Studio Recording Vocals, Voice Overs,Streaming Broadcast and YouTube Videos-K669B https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_wvX.Db86J7JE1
I've been using it for months now and it's amazing. When i first saw the price I thought it was probably just cheap trash but it's actually better than most popular blue yetis and is close to xlr quality mics. Check out some reviews if you don't believe me.
Please also note microphones only do well if your soundcard is decent quality or you have a mixer.
Never heard of it but looks similar to this one which is pretty good. All my subs and all my friends said I needed a new mic. I bought this $30 mic. and since then I’ve had people asking how I only have 80 subs or telling me I’m going to be big. Like people who’ve never seen the channel before.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_fabc_iPSUFb05WHRG0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I’ve really liked it, it’s not the best microphone in the world by any means but it gets the job done, it sounds much better on low volume than high for sure :)
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but normally when stuff like this happens it's gonna save u a lot of time and money to just get an external mic. For a nice, quality, budget option, I would recommend the https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_gLqvFb6H6Y4P1
if you're a total beginner with recording, I'd advise getting a cheap usb microphone like this
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_p4GfFbJDQG3H2
and use any cheap headphones you already have. even apple earbuds will work. that's your best bet to test whether you wanna do this without spending over $100. after a few months, if you find yourself enjoying it and wanna continue, I'd say to buy:
a Scarlett 2i2 interface, an Audio Technica AT2020 + an XLR cable, Audio Technica M40x headphones
that will all cost you around $250-300 but it's a good way to start up if you're new but know you love making music enough that you'll stick with it
I use this Fifine microphone from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Microphone-Condenser-Recording-Streaming-669B/dp/B06XCKGLTP
If you want to do podcasting or professional audio or anything like that, maybe consider something higher end, but this works great for gaming if all you care about is that your teammates can hear you without your voice being mangled.
Buy an external mic like this one.
It’s probably picking up interference or fan noise.
I don’t know about the best but I use this and it’s crystal clear don’t know why you’d need more than this.

I’ve used this usb one and it works great. Then you don’t need another audio controller. The best bang for your buck camera is the one built into your smartphone (back camera with a ~$25 ring light can look amazing)
This Fifine USB mic is only $25 and can sound great with a little bit of editing in audacity
And Davinci resolve is a free editing software that can do everything you’ll need just starting out.
For thumbnails I use Canva but there’s other great software out there that’s free but they all do just about the same stuff
This setup is what I used to get from 0 to over 800 subs in about 6 months. I wouldn’t suggest spending any more than about $75 on equipment/software until you’re monetized tbh, it takes almost nothing to start making high quality videos.
Given your circumstances, I would try getting a good quality external microphone. I bought this one and it seemed to work without issue, even with the laptop that had microphone problems.
The Fifine K669B is probably the best mic you'll be able to find in your budget.

Get a cheap microphone. This is the one to replace my xlr setup I've got and it sounds just fine. If you go with a more complicated setup than this, be prepared to never actually get started making videos.

This is the mic I was using that I got off Amazon a while back. I've had no issues with the mic so far. We had to adjust some stuff so both mics weren't being picked up at the same time so I'm wondering if somehow doing that we accidentally changed something we weren't supposed to? Unknown if it does it just solo recording because I haven't tried since we changed things around.
IMO most webcams unless they are extremely high end aren't worth it. If you have a phone with a good camera webcam apps like Camo can work just as well.
For mics I used this one and it was great https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_dl_QEQA6219WN068QD4Z715?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
If OP is tight on money, the K669B might be a better choice for a standalone mic. It has less bells and whistles (can't detach cable, no pop filter, and no mute button), but if OP wants to just set it down a few feet away from them and forget about it, the lack of features probably won't make a significant difference.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glc_fabc_M4WMBVEVX1J4J8XSZ73Z
35 dollar damn good USB microphone that I have used personally in recording long speech and text. I have a bit of a network of friends who use it for recording VA work as well. Almost every audio recording program (audacity is the best free one imo) has functions to clear out any background humming. It's good, cheap and you don't have to worry about it going to waste since it will last as long as you don't throw it around.
Alternatively you could go for the 300$ setup of a Rode-NT1A with the scarlett I2I, which will give you a little bit of a higher quality for sure and it's worth the money IMO, but you can always build up to it slowly while keeping the 35$ USB mic.
> I have both an iPhone and a MacBook Pro already, so trying to make it easy and stay within the Apple ecosystem
What year is your Macbook Pro? The built-in microphone might be much better than your AirPods Pro. I have a 2019 16" and the microphone is supposedly "studio quality". but I know for sure it's miles better than the AirPods Pro's one (I still use the AirPods as my audio output).
Nothing substitutes a dedicated external microphone though if you are serious about the conference call thing. This is a great starter mic
Consider picking up one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_TR7R2XXY3PRTJYVCF6KN
This mic goes on sale pretty regularly, and is known to punch above its weight a bit. My friend has one and tweaked it with Voicemeeter to make it sound pretty damn good. For 32 its an OK deal, but this is more of just for you to keep an eye out for. Best of luck!
If you need something affordable, Fifine K669B is phenomenal, but if you don’t care about price, then go with blue snowball.
Hi, I am very new to the whole mic thing, would this work ok as a mic to use in discord and whatnot, or would I be better off with something like this: Amazon.com: USB Microphone,Fifine Metal Condenser Recording Microphone for Laptop MAC or Windows Cardioid Studio Recording Vocals, Voice Overs,Streaming Broadcast and YouTube Videos-K669B: Musical Instruments
USB Microphone,Fifine Metal Condenser Recording Microphone for Laptop MAC or Windows Cardioid Studio Recording Vocals, Voice Overs,Streaming Broadcast and YouTube Videos-K669B https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_SC9WMPXGVQ9W8X2C43HM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Welcome to voice work! It's always great to see more people interested in this line of work. I am by no means a pro, but I have a few years experience and would like to help give advice if I can.
I have a strong background in technology so personally getting a good mic was very important to me. I bought a Rode NT1A, as well as an audio mixer in order to be able to hook it up to my PC properly. However, this was a large investment and you can and will find other microphones that do the job at a fraction of the cost.
This microphone from Fifine is a really good value for its cost, and I've recommended this one to may others as well: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_TAT90QVR65RC2ECA8TRE
It's USB so you won't need any other audio interfaces, just plug and go!
Other than a microphone, a quiet place to record is very highly recommended. I moved to my college recently since my degree program is on campus, and I've set up my studio literally in my closet, as folded Laundry is a great sound deadener. This works great for me(though it can get warm so a fan is recommended) but you could avoid issues like echoes or background noise many other ways, such as recording under your bedsheets, in a basement with some towels draped over the walls, or in the middle of the woods on a quiet day.
Lastly you need something to record, be it your own stories, scripts, words, etc or something you can get paid for like freelance work. These freelance jobs can include movies/shorts, audio book narration (Google audio book reader jobs, there is a lot), games, or anything else.
Depending on what you want to take on, you might need to use a specific software, but if you just want an easy to use and free software I recommend audacity. It has a reputation for being exactly what is should be: an audio recorder with settings and some basic editing tools.
Hope this helps you on your new journey!
Fifine 669B is what I just bought, I love it. It was only 35$ too https://www.amazon.com/Microphone-Condenser-Recording-Streaming-669B/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=asc_df_B06XCKGLTP/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312181335000&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16930395851252447337&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hv... really good imo
Second the fifine mic. Have this one and it’s been great for about a couple years now.

You could get the cloud 2's as well as this mic: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_qrg9Fb91PZS71?psc=1
It has overall very positive reviews and a few of my friends have it, and they seem to like it a lot.
If you need a boom arm, shock mount, and pop filter, there is a whole bundle containing all of these mic accessories for the mic that I linked. However, you may need to spend more money or get a cheaper pair of headphones.
Yeah you're spot on, the main issue is mic bleed - it'd be nice to cut out excess sound to my ears as well but with how the house is laid out (office in open 2nd story loft above living room) I'd realistically need either lots of ugly dampening material or to just build a rollup projector-screen type wall.
Anyways, as far as the mic goes, this is what I have now: https://smile.amazon.com/Microphone-Condenser-Recording-Streaming-669B/dp/B06XCKGLTP
I bought it because from my research the cardioid pattern was supposed to be good at picking up what's right in front of it. Unfortunately it also is picking up everything else, including whatever TV show my wife is watching. I'd imagine the SM58 would have the same issue? Plus I'd need an interface or an XLR to USB adapter so then it's not much cheaper than the MV7.
I'm not opposed to spending a decent chunk of change to resolve the main annoyance for good - is there anything about the MV7 that's unique in the uni-directional front that makes it worth the money as opposed to finding something less expensive? I ask just because I'm not too concerned with sound quality, and only using this for gaming and zoom calls, not trying to record instruments or anything. I've poked around online but not found anything that doesn't have the same complaints that I have already.
Thank you for the feedback!
I'll definitely work on the framing.
The mic is a cheap one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=twister_B06XPHK8CZ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 and we're using Quicktime's "Movie Recording" feature to record us and the audio. It took us a while to get it this "good", but I think I forgot to check the TV's volume before recording.
I think we need to get a good default for where the mic sits and what the TV's volume setting. It's somewhat difficult because the recording setup isn't permanent (we record at two different houses).
I gave up on trying to find a mountable solution.
ModMic was great for a while before realizing how garbage the overall quality is for the price.

Went ahead and bought a Fifine USB Mic from Amazon and it has been wonderful.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kF0IFbVH6VSGJ
I use this MIC! The audio is fantastic but it's VERY sensitive so it will easily pick up background sounds so if you don't have a audio program/software that can filter it out you might want to look for a different mic.
I bought this awhile back and have been very happy with it.
Nothing special- its a USB mic I got off Amazon
RTX Voice works okay most of the time- but sometimes I get static and feedback which my friends have told me pop up every once in awhile during Discord calls. I stream sometimes as well and it gets annoying to continuously close and open during my streams to restart the program.
Thanks so much for the response, this helps a lot. I have a grand piano, a 2003 story and clark that I inherited last summer. It’s a player piano (it plays cds specifically for the piano through an internal speaker). It does have a midi out but that doesn’t seem to do anything in GarageBand so I figured I would just try to buy a mic to record my crappy songs.... the piano sound I’m going for is I guess most similar to alt rock? Radiohead, Fiona Apple, the National, Aphex Twin etc. just tying go give it my best shot so it doesn’t sound super muffled and raw.
There’s a ton of mics on amazon for about $50 - ideally I would just like to buy one, put it on the piano and use line in or usb through my Mac or iPhone
This one is cheap, I might just go with it and give it a shot. Could also use it for my acoustic guitar stuff I guess.

You’ll need an external mic plugged directly into your PS4. I run the same setup and I use this and it works pretty well. Haven’t had anyone complain besides being to quiet which you can just turn it up.
This is what I use: USB Microphone,Fifine Metal Condenser Recording Microphone for Laptop MAC or Windows Cardioid Studio Recording Vocals, Voice Overs,Streaming Broadcast and YouTube Videos-K669B https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_P3iWDbF7DRHSJ

I use this one, it’s only about $30 and it sounds really good in my opinion: USB Microphone,Fifine Metal Condenser Recording Microphone for Laptop MAC or Windows Cardioid Studio Recording Vocals, Voice Overs,Streaming Broadcast and YouTube Videos-K669B
I found out about it through LinusTechTips and even he recommended it as a budget mic
Honestly I think a desk mic like this is best: https://www.amazon.com/Microphone-Condenser-Recording-Streaming-669B/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=desk+mic&qid=1555544415&s=gateway&sr=8-8
It just sits on your desk, the audio quality is excellent and you don't have to have an additional wire dangling from your headset.
If you don't mind a separate mic and headphones, then /r/headphones should be a good place to check out, but at $50 you may not get too far. There are a number of good quality, decently branded, headphones that cost over $100 that are also sold by generic brands at about $50, since they come from the same place. So it would be good to ask them for any potential on-going deals.
If you had to opt for a separate mic, you have a few options:
a lapel or clip-on microphone, about $1-2 from eBay, or $10 for a Zalman ZM-1.
a mini boom flexible microphone that attaches to your headphones via tape, velcro or a rubber band, and an extension cable, for about $5-10 via eBay
a modmic for $50+
a $30 USB microphone like the FiFine 669B
> Also, I see some people talking about the difference a dedicated sound card makes, how big is it?
If you get a USB headset, then you would be using the headset's built-in sound card on the USB cable.
If you connect via 3.5mm analog, then you'll be using the motherboard's sound chip.
The difference isn't too bad these days, but you may notice it - it varies by motherboard.
A good sound card should have clarity, and be able to separate sounds clearly without being muddy.
It should be well equalized, or have a "neutral" sound signature, so one range of sounds aren't too stronger than another.
Depending on what software you use you should be able to adjust your microphone input sensitivity, set noise gates, add suppression etc. in microphone settings so I would recommend getting the best quality mic you can reasonably afford and worry about room noise later. That being said I use a FiFine USB mic that I bought on sale from amazon and I haven't had any issues with it other than it not fitting into a seperate crane stand that I have. It comes with a nice little short desktop tripod. Not on sale it's $30 USD.
this is not a sponsored link. I do not get paid to recommend this
As far as a headphone jack idk what to tell you
Appreciate it man, thanks! You had a dope entry yourself! Very nice flow on the beat, gave it a natural sounding tempo. As opposed to mine where i'm racing to get all the words in haha. And ay I see you reppin the Twin Cities fam. We out here!
It's funny, i saw your post as i was posting mine and was like "ay he just got a new mic too". I got a cheap usb condenser off amazon, but that plus a pop filter makes a big difference.
I'll keep that in mind. This is the one I got. And I also was able to pick up an extra cheap condensor that a friend of mine had. Unfortunately I don't have a power source for that one though. I think if I start going up in price I'd leave the USB mics and move to XLR and just get a sound mixer. I think that would make it easier to have multiple mics and everything. But Idk
If the class is going to be online or have online components, then a USB microphone would be great. It makes a significant difference in the audio quality. I use one like this: https://www.amazon.com/Microphone-Condenser-Recording-Streaming-669B/dp/B06XCKGLTP/
If he has an iPad that he might use for grading (many of the online course systems have an app), then an apple pencil can make grading go even more smoothly.
A massage or something that he really enjoys would also be a great thing mid-semester. I know the pandemic complicates everything, but man would a massage be nice right now.
But most importantly I think just your understanding and patience, especially if there's an online component. It seems like there are 10x more emails and fires to be put out. It's been hard for my friends and family to adapt to my new work schedule...

For political science specifically, if he's planning to incorporate current events, a list of places to get reliable news would be great. I get a lot of mine from key reporters I follow on Twitter, from NPR and certain local news sources. Maybe collecting a list of those resources could help?
If you have a Mac GarageBand is free and it’s super simple to use. You can get a decent microphone on Amazon.
You can use foam or towels or about anything soft to make a “dead space” or sit in a closet with cloths hanging to get a good quality recording.
I would strongly recommend over the ear headphones and being really close to the mic when your record. Amazon has mic articulating arms with “pop” screens for cheap as well.
My guess is that it might cost you less than $100 usd for all you would have to have.
I did a quick Amazon search on the US site and found the following items.
Have fun - this is a great project :)

Hey man,
Make an Amazon Wishlist and set it to the public (Really great instructions here)
https://www.amazon.com/Condenser-Microphone-Recording-Interface-K669/dp/B06XCKGLTP
Add that microphone and let me know when you have and I will buy it and ship it to you without having to know your address.
I'd love to see your video quality go up.
Slap some more gear on there like a 1080p webcam or a ring light and a green screen.
Maybe some more people from the /r/outriders community will join in, too.
And be sure to join the Discord!
This Mic: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP - Has tons of positive reviews. You can see some YT reviews that praise it as well.
This stand: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B093KG436P - Lots of versatility on the cheap. I don't think stands really require much hype, this one just really seems to be a Swiss Army Knife of stands though.
Both for under $50 (or right at it pending taxes etc).
I paid 30 bucks for a mic that was comparable to the Yeti Snowball and a couple of reviewers actually liked it better. Most important thing with sound is the have the mic as close to your mouth as possible and take advantage of noise reduction in your editing software or in Audacity. Here is a link to mine
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XCKGLTP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
So I actually have gone through a lot of mic trouble recently. I bought the blue yeti mic (~130) and it broke on me and I can’t return it, which is super annoying cause it was a bit of an investment for me.
I then got this 30 dollar mic on amazon which I used to do my voiceover in my solar video https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XCKGLTP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and it worked out better then I thought. It’s not as sensitive as the blue yeti, but it did really well for voice over narration, it’s not broken, and it’s cheaper. I’m not sure how it would do for things other then narration.
I also bought this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008AOH1O6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to avoid the puffing sound that comes from when you speak into a mic close up.
Good luck with your videos! I’ll subscribe and look out for more.
Check out the Fifine USB mic : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP Or Blue Snowball Ice mic: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006DIA77E/
Both are excellent and literally all you need, I have the Fifine and have used it to even record some songs with some friends before.
I use the arm stand that came with my mic. It's by Fifine. At the time I wanted a very affordable mic that would sound better than a webcam mic. I bought it over 2 years ago and still works well.
I recently bought a new mic that's still on the way, but I'm not going to suggest it since it was a 203$ mic from Rode.
Nowadays, Fifine has more upgraded mics, with a volume button on it, and even a mute button.
For an external mic, YOU want to take it off the desk! You want to attach it to a mic stand/boom arm. It is the best thing you can do to a microphone as it helps to reduce sound/vibration from typing or other small noises.
Very affordable:
Mic Fifine K669B (cardiod type) - 30$: https://www.amazon.com/Microphone-Condenser-Recording-Streaming-669B/dp/B06XCKGLTP/
Compatible arm for the Mic Fifine K669B - 18$: https://www.amazon.com/Windscreen-Suspension-Scissor-Microphone-SUNMON/dp/B08F23QYR1/r
"Cardioid is by far the most commonly used directional polar pattern. They have a wide on-axis pick-up area and maximum rejection at 180 degrees off-axis - resulting in high gain before feedback when stage monitors are placed directly behind. In many cases, ambient noise is reduced by approximately two-thirds when compared to their omni counterparts, and this makes them a staple for live performance and touring."
"Cardioid microphones are one of the most popular microphone types because they isolate the source of sound. This makes them a good choice for live performances, interviews, and studio settings where ambient noise is an issue. Cardioid mics also provide good feedback suppression, which makes them an excellent choice for recording vocals in loud environments."
On here you can see a comparison between some budget mics under 50$: Tonor TXC-777, Hyper x solocast, Fifine ampligame (looks super cute, sounds good, with purple/blue rgb lights), razer seirin mini.

Ultimately, a mic it's about personal preference. Make sure you watch the video, to hear the differences between them, and decide the ones you like the most.
You may want to consider decoupling your microphone from the headset. I have Bluetooth hearing aids which have mikes built-in but aren't really optimized for streaming audio. I use one of these, which I keep relatively close to me on my desk and the audio quality is excellent (so Bluetooth for speaker, external mike for input): https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XCKGLTP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 While Bluetooth has significantly improved, wired is always better (and likely much cheaper on the cos/quality scale). Obviously nice to move about the room, but something to consider.
A decent pair of headphones and a $30 USB desk mic from Amazon >>> a lot of "gaming" headsets. Don't overestimate how nice it is to have a clear mic if you play in parties! I also swap out the cushions for the memory foam ones to prevent dents from forming in my skull bones (or maybe so I don't sweat). Plus, you can just have a do it all set of headphones for your PC, and if you want to take zoom meetings etc. you won't have a "gamer" headset on.
I will give a point for HyperX Cloud II's if you really want to stick to branded gaming headsets---I remove the mic and use a USB mic as above when I use them. If I'm not wearing those, I use Audio-Technica ATH M50X's and the same USB mic above.
I use the fifine-k699b for under $30 it’s the best you can get in my opinion
I used to use this Fifine USB mic, I'll link it. Pair it with any cheap arm and with a few filters in OBS, and you're pretty golden for a cheap setup. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_Z0EGZ768TV6Y02E5R9Z4
I have bought unbranded (no name) mics on Ebay and Amazon and all were junk.
For your application, I would get the free Audio program "Audacity" for your computer.
Then I'd get this USB Fifine mic https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XCKGLTP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
So you need a headphone that has a built in mic? Aka headset. Or would you be able to a separate mic, that's not too costly? Fifine are really great value for their price. If you could, go for the combo with the mic arm and pop filter, as each individually are usually $10 each. If you're reaaaaally strapped for cash, lapel mics aren't bad either. But you'd have to be careful not to move your shirt too much, or rub it against your beard if you have one. They're omnidirectional, so they might pick up keyboard and other sounds.
People that professionally mix music tend to want something flat, which gaming headsets are not, as they tend to emphasis bass and treble. But, we are working on a budget here.
Have you considered checking out AVexchange for second-hand audio gear for cheaper? There are a lot of headphones there.
I’m going to get downvoted for using a condenser but this is what I use- microphone link
I record everything on this. 30 usd https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_Z3MCHP3ZHHR3PS10BZ6A
Here's a great system with a current-gen GPU through this Newegg bundle for the motherboard and an RX 6600XT, which can crush any game in 1080p. Also good CPU, RAM, PSU, etc. I included a great 1080p/144hz monitor, and there's just enough room in the budget to pick up a decent budget condenser microphone.
To hit the budget, I saved money hard on the mouse and keyboard, which are dirt-cheap. That's an easy upgrade in the future for $30-50. I included a 500GB SSD to get you going, but you can also easily add a 2TB HDD in the future for $45. I went with white/blue case and RGB because it was actually cheap, but if you want a different color scheme let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Ok so I don't intend to be mean or anything, so please keep that in mind.
Your microphone is awful, which in turn is making the mix very difficult to listen to. You need a high quality mic and based upon your voice I'm guessing that you are fairly young. That's fine, there are some low cost solutions that will make you sound fantastic.
Directional Condenser Microphone (29 bucks on amazon) https://www.amazon.com/Microphone-Condenser-Recording-Streaming-669B/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=fifine%2Bmic&qid=1638671142&sr=8-5&th=1
This isn't the best mic I've ever owned, but it is incredibly clear and has a warm tone to it. It is directional so you need to make sure the diaphragm is pointed at your mouth. You can check the waveforms in goldwave or audacity or whatever you use to record and kind of get a feel for it. Excellent mic. I actually am now using one of these as my go to, coming from a Blue Snowball ICE which is fantastic, but it is omnidirectional and pics up EVERYTHING, which makes it kinda crap for recording.
If you want to go hard in the paint, you can get this windscreen for it. I would recommend it as it will help a lot if you're in a room that isn't sound treated. https://www.amazon.com/YOUSHARES-Foam-Mic-Windscreen-Compatible/dp/B07JPLKBD9/ref=pd_bxgy_img_1/138-0923968-9613201?pd_rd_w=OXRII&pf_rd_p=c64372fa-c41c-422e-990d-9e034f73989b&pf_rd_r=QQW2ZGSSAQ5QRSFA2SKZ&pd_rd_r=2b72e919-e2f1-47be-b547...
Keep up the good work!
Here is an example of how this mic sounds: https://voca.ro/12gydmKNVeXQ
The problem is that you bought weird cheap crap that's not designed to last.
Actual proper headphones (not some gaming crap ones, some hyperX are exceptions as they are rebranded audiophile headphones) are quite expensive (expect to spend 100$+) but they lasts very long time, you probably need to replace the earpads every 2 years or so, but the actual headphone itself will last you years (Pleather earpads flakes, but something like an aftermarket Velour pads does not).
My recommendation is for you to buy a proper headphone AND a standalone microphone
This is a good place to start https://sites.google.com/view/headphoneadvice/closed-back-headphones
This is my current headphone https://www.brainwavzaudio.com/products/hm5-studio-monitor-headphones
But I'd also recommend getting Audio Technica M40X WITH replacement pads (as stock pads feels like shit)
You can't really go wrong with anything over 100 on the recommendation tho
For microphones this is what I'd recommend, it's relatively cheap and doesn't sound like shit. It also lasts quite long https://www.amazon.com/Microphone-Condenser-Recording-Streaming-669B/dp/B06XCKGLTP
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XCKGLTP/
condenser mic + some $10 pop filter
Bought this for interviews and it's been working well so far:
USB Microphone,FIFINE Metal... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I just bought this Fifine microphone and it’s actually really good for $30 if you are looking for a USB mic. Pair it with Nvidia Broadcast if you have an RTX card or Krisp for other cards and it removes all background noise (like mechanical keyboards).
I then paired it with this highly recommended NEEWER mic arm for $13 and they both have been perfect for a budget mic setup.
Work is the reason I use headphones but I avoid headsets since most are mediocre.
Instead, this $30 USB desktop microphone works quite well.

Good pod, man. Great content, and I’ll stay subbed as long as you’re making local content. Looking forward to setting the screws to El Paso Electric, glad to have your voice added to the chorus. Um, your audio kind of blows chunks. This is a really good, cheap mic. Also, https://www.audacityteam.org Audacity is a good recording/editing program that’s free, and its fairly easy to remove hiss, and hums, lots of info on how to do that on YouTube. Enough with my bitching and griping, excellent work, can’t wait to hear more, and excellent job on what you’ve done already.

I'm just starting too, and if you're looking for a nice and cheap mic to start with, try the Fifine K669B, good quality for only $30

I have a fifine usb mic. It was like 39 bucks. Sounds good enough for me. Has a gain knob, but no mute button. I’m happy enough with it. I would recommend a standalone mic, just purchased a Fifine mic for roughly $30 on amazon.

Before that I used a modmic and ill be honest i wasnt really impressed with the quality of sound. Also it tangled up my headphone cord pretty bad so that was annoying.
I have been experimenting for the last few months. I purchased the following in the Spring, but have been mostly using a USB headset because it has reliably good quality. Closer you have the actual microphone to your mouth, the best. Last week I've started using it for my day-to-day Zoom calls and the audience says it sounds very strong and good. It's also not too expensive:

I consider these reviews to be credible in case you want to get something higher end:
I didn't use any voice reduction technique. The trick is to be in a quiet room and to be as close as possible to the mic. (I used this microphone )
Here's I what I would personally pick:
So, I included the Schiit Fulla because you wanted amplifier as well, but you could easily do without the Schiit Fulla since the Tygr are so easy to power.
Get a Fefine 669B USB Condenser Mic. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XCKGLTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_m6XsFb646DKD1

As long as your AC unit isn't blowing air directly into the microphone, any external microphone will do as long as you tune the settings to only pick up your voice and the microphone is basically right in front of your mouth. Adding a Noise Suppression and a Noise Gate filter will often do the trick.
If you're looking for a microphone, a great budget microphone you should look into is the Fifine USB Condenser Microphone. If you want to hear an example, you can check out this video at the timestamp
The BM800 is popular among streamers. https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.bxeF1 though its not USB per se.

it depends on your budget but the cheapest one with the best reviews i could find is this one by a company called fifine
I'm so confused about this. I know he has briefly talked about his MMP and TMP audio set up, but it is not possible for him to hook up his podcast mic to his computer?
IF not, Billy I got one word for you:
or dare I say:
I have the one on the link. Very happy with it. Reviews are very good as well.

USB or prong? I got one for livestreaming through my laptop recently and the quality, amplification and control are excellent for the price point.
