So I have not made my veil yet, but I made my sister in law's veil (fingertip length) and will make my own cathedral length veil with beaded edge. Those veils can cost $300+ and can be made for much much less, as tulle is dirt cheap. The most expensive and difficult part may be finding the perfect lace (that's my current struggle, but I'm super picky, I'm making my own dress because I know I won't find the perfect one out there and I know I have the skills for it)
This tutorial is great for attaching the lace and comb (and I will be using it for mine). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6-1WBhMIr8 You'll just have to change the shape of the tulle you cut.
I just ordered this book on Amazon because it looks like it will fill in the gaps on the information I have not been able to find easily on the internet. When I get it I will take some pictures of the shapes she cuts the tulle in because that's what I've had the hardest time figuring out. RemindMe! One Week
