Yes. Is there a buckle right in the spot? Any other jingling things there? Velcro? Check the other side as well.
Why did you leave the harness on all day?
If it’s the harness, I’d monitor and use this. Vetericyn Plus All Animal Wound and Skin Care Spray. Cleans and Relieves Cuts, Abrasions, Irritations, and Sores. Non-Toxic, No Sting Formula. (16 oz)

If it’s not the harness, I’d go to a vet.
My dogs get hot spots and itches too. Add this to your list. It really helps.
For our animals and even myself I use a Hypochlorous solutions on open wounds to prevent infection and promote healing. Kills all the bad stuff plus leaves the good tissue alone.

This is what we put on itchy boo-boos, & it helps. Kinda like anti-itch/Neosporin. Hope he feels better! ❤️
Hey! I use this stuff called Veterycin on my face, and I tell everyone about it because it has literally been a miracle for my adult acne. I use it to take off my makeup and wipe it on my face with cotton rounds after going outside (bc the pollen breaks me out). I have very sensitive skin too, and it doesn’t even dry me out. It’s wound care for animals, which sounds a little weird, but it’s completely safe! it’s only $25 on Amazon for a bottle. I am telling you, it’s a miracle!
It keeps bacteria off your face from turning into acne. Again, I know it sounds crazy, but it really works!

Hope is not lost if you act quickly. Get some iodine which is super cheap and use it today. Clean around the outside. You'll have to buy some Vertricyn asap. You will need this and.you can even use it for yourself. Once you do the iodine spray on the Vetericyn and loosely cover with guaze. Give it a couple of days tepeating this cycle. A little baby aspirin will help with pain and inflammation. Follow milligram per pound rule. Do the iodine and spray combo at least 3 times a day. Not everyone can run off to a vet. I've done this with farm animals. Just be very diligent in keeping it clean.

Go to the vet! I also recommend ALL pet owners have this product on hand for scenarios like this... my local pet shop recommended a while back and it is amazing. Great for open wounds. Worth every penny.
We started with Silver Sulfa cream which the doctor prescribed, however Nova kept licking it off, and despite getting her a cone, she managed to curl up round and round until she got to her sore (on the inner thigh). So I did a tone of research and came across Vetericyn Plus, which is a clear liquid spray you apply 3-4 times a day (I just did 2 times a day due to work ). The company's documentation said it works on ringworm (there's a PDF you can download if you Google "Vetericyn Plus ringworm"), and also it doesn't hurt the cat/kitten even if ingested. To me, that treatment seemed like it worked perfectly. However my kitty was 9 months old at this point, so when the test results came back positive with ringworm (although we already knew it), the vet started her on an oral medicine (Sporanox).
I'm really sorry you're going through all of this. It sucks, I know. But now that I'm over it (I HOPE!), looking back, I think I was way too freaked out. At the end of the day, this is not a deadly or painful thing—it's just inconvenient. So keep that in mind. :)

I would certainly ask your vet first, but I always keep a bottle of Vetricyn around the house for when my kitties get into trouble and get cuts and bruises. It works well on small wounds animals get once in a while. I highly recommend it. It's like neosporin for animals.
I would also look into either tightening the cone or investing in a new type of cone. I own this soft KONG cone for my cat and she has not been able to pry it off, whereas some other cones I've owned she's been able to escape in the past.
