I was told that you can program a key yourself with an ELM327 OBDII adapter and the OBD JScan app. The license for the app is $20 and the device I used is $30 on amazon.
I haven't programed a key to work with it, but I did successfully enable by trailer adapter plug for lights with the app and it worked beautifully.
I bought a VGate iCar Pro for my car with extended can after running into buffer limits with a generic ELM327. Here is the link to the one I have, there are a few different versions with different chip speeds, but any of them should let you pull the full message.
SOH(state of health) is available with an OBD scanner and an app for your phone..
I use carscanner for iPhone, and this:
There’s one with a power on button that’s even better, but be sure it fits iPhone if that’s your phone.
My SOH is still 100% after charging plenty DC and up to 100%
Oh yeah if you didn’t have LED before you need to change the settings. I assumed you had LED for stock lights. I use an app called JScan and a Vgate OBD reader. Look for OBD JScan in the App Store. It is like $20 US currency(not sure Canadian) to get the license. You can change a ton of settings. You can just download the app, select vehicle and choose demo to see what it does before purchasing the license.
I would recommend the JScan app and a Bluetooth OBD tool. I bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XGB4873/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5KXMDM2X1KH5PZKVP0BW?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
I think it was $35 for the tool and $30 for a single VIN in the app.
You can clear the TPS light, set your tire size, change your gear ratio…
Yessir!
I’m in a local group and anytime someone mentioned buying a ProCal, everyone recommended the cheaper version. It just simply works.
I’m sure ProCal looks better and has nicer software. But…this is simple stuff. The knockoff gets to the exact same result.
I got this: Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) OBD2 Fault Code Reader OBDII Code Scanner Car Check Engine Light for iOS/Android https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XGB4873/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_AAAEWM071DFXZCAGNMC3
The app is called OBD JScan
If you buy one of these and an obd2 scanner app, you might spend like $40-60 total, and then you can check the codes yourself at any time.
Posting the error message with the codes you find using your obd2 scanner setup will help people explain what is wrong with the car.
Yes, you can. You need one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XGB4873/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and an app called BimmerCode. There are a lot of things you can program with it. You can learn more about it at BimmerCode.com, and on the North American motoring of MiniF56 forums.
I bought this one and have used it successfully with an iPhone and an Android phone on our Bolt.

That and the app will work on almost all bimmers.
Scroll to the bottom for compatibility. Check out the screens, it gives you a general idea of the info it exposes that your car is hiding.
Same manufacturer, but I haven't used that exact model.
This is the one I've been using and have had good results with. https://www.amazon.com/Vgate-Bluetooth-Scanner-Android-Compatible/dp/B06XGB4873
Here's a sample of Car Scanner playback. It auto records if you turn that on, just be sure to DISCONNECT inside the app before actually getting out of the seat.
Go find their site for a list of good OBD. I got the Vgate one below.
Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XGB4873?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Buy a Bluetooth OBDII and the app Car Scanner. It can tell you battery capacity along with a lot of other stuff too. Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XGB4873?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
the Vgate BT4 one
Yeah, you will need to reprogram the tire and axle settings with an automatic.
Don't go out and buy one of those expensive reprogramming tools. You can do all of that and more for ~ $80 with the JSCAN App. (Both on iphone and android)
Follow the steps in this video and you're good to go -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDFNXXk9dMY
The app requires you to pay $20 to register you VIN. And you need to purchase the following two items to bypass the security systems
iCar Pro 4.0 - https://www.amazon.com/Vgate-Bluetooth-Scanner-Android-Compatible/dp/B06XGB4873?th=1
I bought this VGate iCar reader and it works great with my 2014 REx.
Yes you need compatible OBDII Bluetooth. Here is the one I uses and is highly recommend. Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XGB4873?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I would suggest getting a better ODB: http://jscan.net/supported-and-not-supported-obd-adapters/

I have a regular ebay elm 327 that works but I would suggest getting a better one. I've been through most of the ODB apps and there are none that come close to this one.
