Giving a dog cheap food is much worse for them in the long run, not only for their fur but also for increasing the life expectancy of the dog.
There haven't been any scientific studies done, that I know of, that show links between poor quality dog food and cancer but there is a lot of information out there that talk about poor quality dog food being one of the contributing factors to cancer.
We have four dogs that we rescued, two Akitas, a Black Lab, and a Feathered Saluki, and we feed Victor Grain Free Dry Dog Food

It's not the most cheapest premium dog food out there but it has a 5 star rating and it's not as expensive as some of the others
