Adding on to this, I buy this psyllium husk from Amazon and try to take 1 tsp per day with a little ACV before lunch. I think the last bag lasted about a year. Doesn't taste good, but it's pretty cheap.
A lot of people are are going 10+ times and worried about shitting their pants; going once a day is like the holy grail of treatment. So to answer your question no, that is not something I have ever heard an IBD patient be alarmed about, more like wished for.
Your diet will have a large impact on consistency. If you want thicker stool https://www.amazon.com/Viva-Naturals-Organic-Psyllium-Powder/dp/B011QGTRG4/ref=sr_1_7_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1523647299&sr=1-7&keywords=fiber is my favorite product. There is also a negative correlation between high fiber and colon cancer.
We used "Viva Naturals". I had heard from a few sites that this brand didn't go purple either.
I baked it for 45 minutes and no hint if purple!

A few months ago I started consuming 2 tablespoons of Psyllium husk. That's the primary ingredient in that gritty Metamucil powder. But I don't like the flavorings and sugar and other bullshit they put in it, so I found just straight-up Psyllium husk powder. It's still kinda yucky, and you gotta mix it into your juice or coffee and just swig it down. But man... I've never had such consistent or easygoing bathroom time in my life.
This is the one I am using currently.
This is the one I'm using. 3 servings a day.
