Definitely not safe but you could place a piece of wood between them to protect the glass. Or if you want something cleaner you can get purpose built plates like this.
I've got that so I don't crush my shitty Ikea desktop but it's marketed as being for glass tops as well.
I've been using 2 of these since 2018 with 2 27" monitors, works great
If you have a nice desk, I'd get some of those metal plates that go between the c-clamp
Also the wire management system is kinda crap if you use all your monitors' ports, but really can't complain for the price
i have Deskhaus HPL top and i'm using 2 clamp monitor mounts (2 monitors on each mount). My monitors are 27 and 24 in so total weight is ~18 lbs on each mount.
i have bought the desk recently so I can't exactly tell you the long term result but I don't think there will be any issue. I used the same setup with cheap Ikea top (the one with honeycomb pattern cardboard inside) for 2 years without an issue. I mounted the arms near where the legs were installed.
if you're concerned with clamp damaging the top, you can look into some mounting plate to help spread out the pressure. I used this for my Ikea top but I didn't bother for the HPL one.
Thank you for the long and detailed answer, I'll try looking at solid wood counters or butcher blocks, we don't have Home Depots here in Italy though, unfortunately.
I'll try calling a carpenter too, hopefully I won't have to spend a fortune since I'm a student and I'm really trying to save where I can.
Also, if I may ask you another piece of advice, do you think this could help with/prevent the sagging?
If you decide not to drill into your concrete wall, you could also continue using it on your desk and get a reinforcement plate. It’ll help spread the load instead of stressing on one spot. There’s different brands so shop around for prices.
> Will I need to reinforce the monitor clamps?
Yes. The Lagkapten and Linnmon desks are hollow. Mounting heavy things to them can result in the base denting/punching through the fiberboard top. You can get metal plates or piece of wood to distribute the load over a larger area so that it's less likely to occur.
Did you end up going with the Idasen? I'm looking to do the exact same thing but can't find much on here about long term compatibility w/ dual monitor mount. Last thing I need is for my desk to collapse and ruin my monitors.
Slightly worried that it will cave in but probably going to end up going with Idasen and using a distribution plate.
>I had 3 monitors all on single arms, now 2 27” on 2 single arms. Using the basic amazon vivo vesa mount arms. No issue with the desk collapsing, shaking, struggling with weight etc.
Thanks, super helpful. That's the 60in Idasen top?
I also was looking at getting a metal support plate, for a dual monitor arm but maybe two single arms would be better from looking at your set up. I don't adjust my monitors much anyways.
I've been using 2 of these since 2018 to support 27" monitors without any weight problems (MG279Q, then S2719DGF), tho they were $26 back then (inflation or discount event?)
The only issue I have is that the padding from the C-clamp gets torn off, so I'd suggest adding your own padding or mount plates (like these) to protect your table
I also bought my standing desk from PrimeCables (dual motor, $322) and it works without any issues
It will break the desk unless you have some support for the arm. I have two 32 inch monitors with a arm on my Linnmon and use this to support it. Before I used to have two 27's on a arm without support and the arm desk connector did cave in the bottom of the desk due to weight. Since I added the support plate's no issues. I did have to buy two support plate sets lol. It comes with small and large support plates and I wanted two large plates. I used the big part for top and bottom support.
I'm using the eckbacken with marble pattern, I think its more durable (and more aesthetic if u take the marble version lol) . I would recommend using this bracket too!
You need to distribute the weight out on the glass from the clamp. I have not used this product, but just came up from a search. Sharing as an idea (no idea of the product or how well it works):

The larger the surface area the better to distribute the weight more evenly.
You can buy extra "reinforcements" for your mount to spread the load (e.g.) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NNVJHRY/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_2?smid=A3W3STWCK1O3NR&psc=1 . I had a Linnmon desk that couldn't handle 2x27" displays, I was crushing the desk and things were sagging. I ended up buying a sheet of MDF to help spread the load up top (also made a bit of a "platform" for stuff to rest on), and underneath some stainless steel ties (they're cheap and I didn't need the bottom to be pretty).

Karlby is tough, you shouldn't do any notable damage to it...
If you want to be certain though, you can add a reinforcement plate between the clamp and the Karlby, just to spread the load a bit. The DIY option would be a piece of thin plywood, hardboard or similar, or you can buy a commercial one like this.
You might also consider the Ikea island countertops, they're basically just short, deep versions of the regular ones. 188 x 100cm, IIRC. There's a couple of versions in the Karlby series, and we've just very recently started seeing some in the laminate types, as well.
You may also want to consider a reinforcing plate for the arm mounts, not really necessary on a countertop but maybe worthwhile regardless. Something likeTHIS, for example?
As was I. In fact, I considered taking the glass top off the desk but like the look so I figured I'd give it a try. Two things helped:
So far, so good.
I just replaced my tempered glass desk, but I ran a VIVO dual display mount. I got the metal "brace" and it worked just fine! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NNVJHRY/ref=cm_sw_r_u_apa_fabc_0pQ4FbF742CBE?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Seldom do I post links. I hope this works lol if not PM me.
Try some neoprene foam pads and a rigid layer like thin metal or plastic to distribute the clamp pressure points across the glass desk. Maybe hack up a clipboard?
If you want to buy a solution it looks like VIVO has a support plate for glass desks.

saw the post by u/MrPap but also thinking about trying this reinforcement plate for extra peace of mind.
Yeah I was hoping to hold off on the middle leg, but maybe I have to.. I wouldn’t be putting any more weight then I have on it now.
Would also come with this

I went with the Flo Monitor Arm for both of my monitors, holds the LG 38GL950 well as too my old Alienware AW3418DW in portrait.
Heres a link, whilst for Australia there are other country options.
The monitor arm it self looks nice and great cable management, theres also a number of clamp options.

I also have both monitors on a glass desk so been using this from VIVO Black Steel reinforcement to spread the weight.

Out of stock right now but this: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07NNVJHRY/
I run this on my desk mount for my ultrawide on a thin Ikea desk like yours.
I'm just a bit worried about the stress it would put on the desk, its not real wood. Should I use a woodblock or something like this? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NNVJHRY/ref=ox\_sc\_act\_title\_2?smid=A3W3STWCK1O3NR&psc=1
I just got an Idasen and put a dual monitor arm on it. All together probably around 35-45 pounds. What I did add was a metal plate on the bottom and top that disperses the weight of the arm across a larger surface area as to not, hopefully, puncture the hollow core of the Idasen. So far, so good.
Here’s a picture of the setup:
Here’s the link to the metals plates I used:

I just found this that you can use to protect the glass!

Not at all. That's why I mentioned that I used a steel reinforcement plate. It distributes the weight.

It'll help distribute the weight.
Its available on amazon through the global store https://www.amazon.co.uk/Reinforcement-Tabletops-Compatible-Installations-STAND-AC01R/dp/B07NNVJHRY/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=clamp+reinforcement+glass+desk&qid=1569366581&sr=8-1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NNVJHRY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 this is what I ordered, what kind of foam would you use?
Edit: I have a clamp mount coming too Flo by Herman Miller
You can buy a metal piece that spreads the weight around so it doesn't dent.
