PPM is parts per million - it's a measurement of concentration, so it's dependent on the volume of your reservoir. If you use the same X grams of nutrients, the PPM will be much higher in a 5 gallon bucket than a 15 gallon tote. There's also a question of how easily your dry fertilizer will dissolve, what else might be in your water before you start, etc. It's really worth investing in an EC meter, otherwise, you're just blindly guessing.
