Search for carbon filter on Amazon and you’ll find a bunch. They’re all pretty much the same.
VIVOSUN 4 Inch Air Carbon Filter Odor Control with Australia Virgin Charcoal for Inline Fan, Grow Tent Odor Scrubber, Pre-filter Included, Reversible Flange 4" x 14" [link]
Marijuana grower chiming into this good idea. Since your going to be needing fans to make positive pressure you can also look into getting a carbon air filter with an in-line fan . Marijuana growers like me use them to scrub strong plant smell so it should clean all that smoke smell for you. This is what I use [link]
Hey! I bought a filter off amazon and it was garbage. I wrote a 1 stare review saying it didn’t remove the smell and the seller contacted me and agreed to give me a refund if I removed the review. Try writing a review and see what happens. If you happen to be in Canada I ordered [link] and it actually works. I’ve tested it in flower and there was no smell. Hope this helps.
It's what they use on grow tents. Definitely works better than anything else. It's an actual carbon filter. And you add a flexible dryer duct, you have a perfect sploof to blow your smoke into.
Definitely get the inline fan combo
Best bang for your buck here: [link]
If you scroll down it suggests a "frequently bought with" combo. I'd get the fan too. You can use the flexible hose duct as a sploof to blow your hits into.
If you want a cheap carbon filter, check out items designed for "indoor grow hobbyist" or hydroponics. I got a decent sized (7lbs ish) one for $35usd on Amazon.
For reference, this is the one I bought:
I doubt CPU/computer fans will pull any air if there's an actual filter involved (their airflow drops quickly with even minimal restriction/resistance).
Hey man, where did you get the carbon filter? I bought a combo pack from Amazon and the one that came with it didn't remove all the smell. If your in Canada this one works great. If you did get one from Amazon make sure to message the seller, they refunded me the entire price of the crappy filter to remove the negative review.
Good carbon filters remove ALL the smell.
Thanks! The smell isn't noticeable when the tent is closed. I have the tent located in the closet in my bedroom and it vents into the bedroom, and my wife hasn't complained about a smell. I've been using this filter.
Absolutely. We bought this one from Amazon and it was worth every penny. Our grow is currently in the flowering stage, so the buds are very potent when you unzip the tent. When tent is closed, the filter eliminates the smell, even with the vent flaps open at the bottom.
I have two of these:
It's amazing how well they work... I've had guests over and they can't smell anything until I open the tents to let them have a peek.
You'd just need a good carbon filter, e.g. [link]
Yes that's a toy and it looks downright silly in design. I can see why it was blocking your vent.
Below is a real filter.
I have my enclosure in the garage but got one of these and printed an adapter. Works great!
Do yourself a favor and get rid of the fumes.
Either pipe it outside with an in-line fan, or pipe it into a charcoal air filter. [link]
I've never seen microns listed but this is what i was thinking [link]
Here's my attempt at a solution to the Photon S ventilation problem (based on the solution to the original Photon ventilation problem posted to Thingiverse by DocTanner):
If the goal is to avoid the fumes, I'd say modify a carbon filter to vent the exhaust through. I've seen several, one going so far to use ducting to attach to a large carbon filter with a 4inch in line fan to draw air through. And then at that point it really won't matter where it is for the most part.
Something like this - amazon link
Along with the likes of this custom exhaust vent along with some standard ducting and a 4" inline fan.
push the exhaust/smoke through a filter. [link]
It should yeah. When I got my photon the whole house stank of resin. When I put [link] with a fan on my photon the smell basically went away. It’s still faint in the printer room.
Set up was super easy, old port screws right off and you screw the new one right one and then slap on a filter and a fan (any carbon filter should do but here’s what I bought that works well)
VIVOSUN 4 Inch Air Carbon Filter... [link]
VIVOHOME 4 Inch 195 CFM Plastic... [link]
And finally some ducting-
iPower GLDUCT4X8C 4 inch 8 feet Non-Insulated Aluminum Foil Vent with 2 Clamps, Ducting [link]
This really works well for me. The smell otherwise is intolerable. Carbon filters are really amazing.
Here is the filter. It all tucks nicely up top behind the lights.
And this is my first grow so no idea on what it will yield.
