No problem my dude. I personally have this one. I got mine refurbished from Groupon for $40. I was hesitant to pull the trigger since it was so cheap but it's my first soundbar and I figured it'd be a cheap way to test the waters. Even at the $80 it costs right now on Amazon, I'd recommend it. This is probably one of the cheapest soundbars out there, but it's still way better than TV speakers, so I can't imagine how great some of the more expensive soundbars are, especially ones that come with subwoofers and more. I also personally like the look of the soundbar. It fits in perfectly with my setup and since I have it hooked up directly to my TV, it works with my cable box, my PS4, and my XB1 flawlessly.

DTS Truvolume has been pretty effective at boosting dialogue and minimizing the need to constantly fiddle with the sound, in my experience. I believe this is the cheapest Vizio soundbar that includes it. Should sound pretty good too, especially for the price.
Nah bro , THIS the one Had it for a few years and it’s top rated

Can go even cheaper than that then. I picked this up for $75 USD on an Amazon special. If you want to spend a couple dollars more you can get the same model with the subwoofer.

Honestly, a soundbar is what I'd recommend... easy to have it sit under your monitor, hook it up to the Xbox via optical audio, and just mute/turn it off when you want to use your headphones.
Something like this ($80): https://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-SB2920-C6-29-Inch-Channel-Sound/dp/B00SMBFZNG
I don't know a lot about sound systems, but if you find that you're turning on the subtitles because you have a hard time understanding people on TV even if they don't thick accents or anything, I'd recommend getting a sound bar or something like that. This is the one I got and it made watching TV much more enjoyable without costing an arm and a leg. My only complaint with this model is that each level of volume is a major step so there's not a lot of middle ground when picking the volume haha!
Room looks great though!
Here's an $80 solution that will sound much better than your TV speakers.
Try to turn off any pseudo-surround processing on your TV, or the voices tend to end up sounding too quiet. Also, depending on the TV, I've noticed that using the RCA jacks can actually sound better than using an optical cable in some cases. Not sure why, but it's happened that way a couple of times.
Someday, if you save up for a bigger system for your TV, an old soundbar connected to a Chromecast Audio is a great addition to your garage. :)
I just bought this Vizio soundbar and I have a Fiio e10k that I'd like to use for both this and my headphones. I can get audio thru with the RCA cables via line out, but I'd prefer to use the Digital Coax - which isn't putting any sound through. Any ideas why this is?
I think getting a good headphone is the best option. I recommend PS gold for an entry level, turtle beach if you want slightly better, or go all out with Astro.
If you are not the kind of person who like to wear headphone every time you game, maybe get sound bar that have Optical input. example, http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-SB2920-C6-29-Inch-Channel-Sound/dp/B00SMBFZNG/ref=sr_1_2?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1455589036&sr=1-2&keywords=soundbar
In the mean time, you can use most of 3.5mm earpiece and plug it to your DS4 controller.
What i don't recommend is using a cheap eBay like USB to 3.5mm.
Hope you find what suit you the best.
Think something like Vizio Sound Bar (Amazon) would work?
I wonder if the headphones were plugged into it if it would cut the sound to these speakers? If not, I guess I could get one of those splitters you mentioned.
Not directly his site, but if you order this he'll deliver it to you and you can do it in person.
I had the same problem, and turned on subtitles to compensate. I just figured I was old and my hearing sucked. Then I got a soundbar. Now I don't have that problem; dialog is clear and understandable even when they're whispering, or there's explosions going on at the same time.
TV speakers are generally complete and total garbage. Here's an easy-to-understand LTT explanation and review video. Here's the cheapo soundbar they talk about (currently $75 vs $69 in the video). Of course everyone in /r/Soundbars will suggest you buy something better, and people in /r/hometheater will sneer at the thought of a soundbar instead of a proper home theater setup.
For $0, if you have powered computer speakers lying around, try plugging them into the TV. Really, anything is better than the built-in TV speakers.
Anything other than a sound bar will most likely require an AV receiver wired to standalone (bookshelf) speakers. That would probably exceed your budget, but if not, Micca MB42X are fucking great speakers.
I have a small room. I want to get a subwoofer for my home setup because the bass from my soundbar is very lackluster. I currently have a soundbar connected to my tv through an optical cable. The tv itself might also have audio out (RCA?)
What all would I need to connect something like this to what I have?
Also would there be anyway to have my gen 2 amazon echo connect to it?
HTiB will get the job done but not well. I would rather you go with a soundbar and & powered sub. This way you have a sub that you can use later on if you want to upgrade.
Soundbar - Either of these Vizio models $80-100 or this Yamaha soundbar $180
Sub - Dayton sub 1000 $110 + sub cable $13
The better option is to go with a receiver and speakers. There are a lot of advantages to this the biggest one is flexibility. You can replace one without the other and you and upgrade. However, if you just have to have a soundbar and you accept the limitations they bring go for it. I for one don't hate soundbars as they sound so much better than the TV speakers. My thing is get one that you can add a powered sub to. This way you have a sub if you decide to upgrade to an AVR and if the soundbar craps out you sill have one for the next soundbar. Hear are some examples of what I would do.
Vizio $115-130 depending what model you want. I would go with the 38" if you're getting a 50" TV.
Yamaha YAS-105 $300 sounds pretty good without the sub but you can add one in later if you want.
Sub - Dayton Sub 800 $200 or Monoprice $135 should do you fine. Get this adapter $10 to get the best volume out of it.
The car and stereo at home thing is definitely a good point, definitely not something to "boo friggity hoo" about.
Knowing apple they will introduce a lightning to 3.5mm adapter which is pants on head stupid because if they feel the need to introduce something like that, why not just keep the 3.5mm jack.
You brought up something I didn't think about with the stereo issue.
Is it like a LARGE stereo at home? Or a smaller one?
I ask because I bought this sound bar for my home gym and it's pretty loud. But if you have a home theater thing then that bites. There are other sound bars with subwoofers for a similar price
As for the car thing, it would cost about $50-$60 to get something like this installed. Wouldn't really help with the "in a friend's car" situation though.
I think apple is trying to bring their brand back to "premium" status since now the samsung phones are costing more than the iphones. Since most cars in the past 5 years were built with bluetooth, it's an indirect way to cut people who don't have newer vehicles.
I have a tiny bit (7 inches wide) of space to the left of my monitor, any other speaker would have to go behind my 2nd monitor. I put the tower on top of the desk to make more storage under the desk, so now I have practically no space for anything. The space under my main monitor is part of the reason I'm finding a soundbar style of speaker attractive. I was looking at this thing, but I have no idea if it's any good.
(no side panel, desk is uneven, started to cause it to rattle a bit)
Such as this?: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SMBFZNG
Doesn't come with a sub, but I'm asking people who bought it to see if the bass is decent on it.
Most computer speakers are going to sound well like computer speakers. If you get computer speakers worth anything you're going to be in soundbar territory. That's assuming that you're going to use the 3.5mm (I don't recommend) if not then you're going to be searching for a set with optical/digital inputs. If that's the case you might as well get a soundbar/soundbase and get the included remote and tone controls. You can also look at some prepack 2.1 setups but they will be more expensive than your entry level soundbars and it sounds like you want something as cheap as you can get it.
So my recommendation is a Vizio Soundbar $80 if you like your bass then either add in a subwoofer $100 or get the Vizio with the subwoofer $160.
If you're just looking for better sound in a bedroom then I think a soundbar suits that roll perfectly. I would look at these if I were you.
VIZIO SB2920-C6 Soundbar $80 simple 2.0 for a bedroom might lack some bass but that might not be so important for a bedroom.
VIZIO S2121w-D0 Soundstand $120 simply put your TV on top and away you go. This unit has the integrated "sub" so bass should be acceptable.
Vizio soundbar with sub $150 2.1 setup with wireless sub that sounds pretty good. You might be able to tuck the "sub" behind the TV.
