The Wacom Drawing Tablet is only $63.90 on Amazon. Good price on everything else though, GLWS!
Hi, wacom intuos user here, check it out on amazon. I do digital art.
This is a beginner friendly tablet, with a pressure sensitive pen.
Should you get one? Depends: Drawing tablets take some time getting used to, but they are definitely a must have assuming you want to become a creative like illustrator, digital artist, architect etc. However for graphic design related jobs like logo design, flyer design etc it is not necessary.
The best way to get good enough with a tablet is practice. There are multiple subreddits like r/ArtFundamentals and r/learntodraw that have tutorials and exercises which is a good place to start. You have not told us your current level and your goal (I guessed you want to be a freelance artist) but I cannot stress how important practice is.
Hope this helps!
I don’t really know my exact area size right now, I use the old Intuos small model, mapped to the entire 1080p 16:9 window, but obviously the game is small so I only really use the portion the game covers. I’ll have to measure the points on my tablet to see how big it is.
This is an older version of a Wacom Intuos Draw. The only way you can buy these is used I believe.
Small: 152 x 95 mm (6.0 x 3.7 in)
Amazon.com: Wacom Intuos Draw (Old Version): Computers & Accessories
I'd look up Intuos Draw cable, it does look like it has a weird angled one, or whichever tablet it is. Maybe look up Intuos models if this isn't it. I'd link ya but the cables aren't sold on Amazon, and idk where ur located.
i use an intuos pen (this version). I have used it for years. I think they even sell them at best buy now for like, $80. at least they did when I had to replace mine (a dog ate my pen, not a problem with the tablet itself).
i tried another brand at one point, turcom i think it was, but the pressure sensitivity on that thing was sorta jittery, and the the tabplet itself was really big, especially when compared the drawing surface.
I use this to draw
I'm debating on getting a drawing tablet. The cheapest I've found was a Wacom Intuos Draw CTL490DW. Is this any good for a starter tablet? I'm fairly new to drawing digitally, and money is kinda tight right now but I for some reason have enough confidence to think about getting one for sketch drawing and practice.
Any help would be appreciated!
I've been looking up tablets to use and although bamboos are recommended, I was wondering if this would be just as good for osu. https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-CTL490DW-Digital-Drawing-Graphics/dp/B010LHRFM2/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1506265491&sr=1-3&keywords=wacom+bamboo+tablet
Oh, don't worry :). I'm glad you like what I do.
She should definitely try digital painting. It's just another medium that offers a lot of possibilities, some of them not possible through traditional means (or really difficult/costly). It's also THE MEDIUM if she has even a passing interest in working in almost any art related industry. With just a small graphics tablet and a computer she has all she needs :).
She shouldn't abandon "analogic" drawing though. I still paint on paper and will always do. I love it and couldn't live without doing it.
Digital it's just another tool on an artist's belt :), albeit one of the most important ones nowadays
I have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010LHRFM2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I could let it go for $62 shipped. Its in excellent condition I bought it a couple of months ago with the intention to do some animation. Its been collecting dust ever since...
Well, you could ask in /r/digitalpainting, but the answer you'll probably receive is to get a Wacom. I believe you can get one of the basic small ones for $100-150 from an office supply store or from Amazon. The larger and more professional Wacom tablets can go for much higher. If you want something even more economical, Monoprice sells one under their own name that, if I recall correctly, is about $50. This one requires batteries in the stylus itself which some people find less than ideal.
Edit: I was wrong about Amazon's price. Here's one for $79.
Thx for your reply. I read articles either which suggest that the theres no way around wacom, which is ok for me. But the question ist the size i need. As is said 27´monitor with 1920x1080px
Would that be enough in size s or does it have to be m?
Further i would like to know if a tablet is also helpful for works with 3dmax?
I'd really recommend the Wacom Intuos Draw. I started digital art some odd weeks ago, and this is the one I have. Easy to install, easy to use. If you get it off of Amazon, it comes with a free version of ArtRage Lite, a really, really simple digital art software, but a good starting point to get you used to all of the features digital art has to offer. It's also around $70, so it's right in your price range.
I'm also interested in what a good beginner's drawing tablet is that's relatively inexpensive. I'm no pro artist but I like to mess around with drawing with GIMP and whatnot and it would be easier with a tablet than a mouse.
I recently looked at the following one on Amazon and it has good reviews. I'd be interested in any other opinions on it: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B010LHRFM2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=EYUB2S948M6V&coliid=IHOODHSVPOTOD&psc=1
I think I'll stick with Photoshop for now, because I have it, and because I'd love to be more proficient with it.
Does this one seem good for a beginner? It's the #1 selling drawing tablet on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-CTL490DW-Digital-Drawing-Graphics/dp/B010LHRFM2
Know of any good resource for learning to draw this style of cartoon or animation? I'd love to learn Extra Credits style of art, or something similar. How it's quality cartoon, yet upon closer inspection it's extremely basic and can be sketched out in a manner of, maybe a minute or two.
I think I'd start with a few basic tutorials and colored pencils and a drawing notebook or something.
The easiest option would be Inkarnate, which is free and online.
If he wants to make semi-professional level maps without the restrictions of using a program he'll have to get photoshop or a similar program and use a variety of brushes. If he wants specific icons and features he'll have to draw them himself, in which case he will want a drawing tablet. I've linked the cheapest quality drawing tablet you can buy from Wacom, the biggest name in digital art, but items like the iPad pro w/ Apple Pencil, Samsung Galaxy Tab A w/ S pen, or Microsoft surface pro will also work. Normal touch screens and stylus systems are usually not enough to make quality digital art. Visit r/DigitalPainting for more advice on this front.
According to the official Wacom site, the most recent model is the CTL-4100/CTL-4100WL or CTL-6100WL (small or medium, respectively, and the WL is some fancy code for 'it has bluetooth'). The old model for the Draw is CTL490DW. Maybe if you add the model number to the search, you'll have more accurate results?
From what I've seen about the new one and from owning the previous model, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference aside from the aesthetics and the art program that comes with it.
Here is the old model on Amazon-- no blue color from what I could find, sorry!
Here is the new model on Amazon, available in black and pistachio, which is sort of like the blue.
Good luck!

Well rated pretty well on Amazon,
https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Intuos-Draw-Old-Version/dp/B010LHRFM2
Can't speak for it beyond that.
For clarification, it is this model: https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Intuos-Draw-Old-Version/dp/B010LHRFM2
You'd need a considerable amount of room for your graphics tablet unless you disable your keyboard. Second year comp eng courses have a lot of people in them, so you might be stuck in DSQ, LIB 072 or ENG 103 for some courses.
As for graphics tablets, I prefer Wacom ones, since they have better pressure sensitivity and response. I mostly use my graphics tablet to do illustration, so you might not need all those levels of sensitivity. The Intuos and Intuos Pro are both great graphics tablets, but they're kinda pricey. If you can find their old Bamboo Splash/Capture ones, they're also pretty nice and cheaper than their Inutos line. This Huion one is pretty value since you get 12 macros you can program to do common commands (undo, redo, etc).
It is a drawing tablet - Wacom Intuos Draw
I'm trying to decide on a first drawing tablet and i was wondering if someone could tell me the reason for the price difference between these 2 products? Also any other suggestions. Thanks in advance :)
and
So the one you're talking about is this? https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-CTL490DW-Digital-Drawing-Graphics/dp/B010LHRFM2/ref=pd_lpo_vtph_147_bs_t_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=4JY11WMB4MMNVZRCC0GQ
So difference between that and this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KKPBWBU/ref=twister_B0151LH8ZC
is it just that the 2nd one provided zbrush core? It does say specifically 3D though.
I have this one and it's great. I'm not an artist like most people here, but if you look around you'll see people make fantastic art with it. Here is an ad for it.
I originally got it for work (whiteboarding with people over the phone). A colleague had a $350 Wacom, and this $70 one worked every bit as well.
Buy a tablet with a stylus? Or one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Intuos-Draw-Graphics-Tablet/dp/B010LHRFM2
It's small and not very feature-heavy but it's leagues better than a mouse.
They have some nice beginner tablets like so. It is your cheapest wacom option that isn't refurbished. https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-CTL490DW-Digital-Drawing-Graphics/dp/B010LHRFM2
You can get the new version for $71 on Amazon.
I found this Wacom Intuos3 12x9 Pen Tablet, w/Mouse for $77.
Would you guys get that or would you get one of these?
This is a link to the EXACT Amazon page https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010LHRFM2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I'd like $45 for the tablet - but I want to reiterate that it does not come with the original packaging.
I like the look of this one...best seller on amazon too.
if u have a laptop i would just get something like this
https://www.amazon.com/Wacom-CTL490DW-Digital-Drawing-Graphics/dp/B010LHRFM2/ref=zg_bs_16034531_1
19, and yeah a normie graphics tablet for making shit art.
^and ^maybe ^osu ^too
This one will probably do well. I haven't been paying as much attention recently.
When I first started drawing digitally I got myself a super cheap Trust brand tablet, that cost about £20, or somewhere in that area. It worked well enough for what I needed for at the time, which was to introduce me to how it feels to draw on a PC, but it didn't come with any programs and at the time I hadn't heard of programs like GIMP. I found a horrendous web app and used that instead of a good art program, which is an issue for another day.
To be brutally honest, that tablet lasted about a year before it started having problems. The stylus was the first thing to start going wrong; it was battery powered and the power started cutting off on it for no reason. This basic sort of problem is something you won't get with even the cheaper Wacom brand tablets. The most recent Wacom tablets even come with programs bundled with them; the higher price is, in my opinion, well worth it.
I grabbed a cheap Wacom tablet on a sale in a computer store that was near me at the time, for around £40. I've had this thing for at least three years and the entire time it's been brilliant. The customisability is through the roof, and even though the model I have is the cheap "Pen Small" one from a few years back, I've found no need to update it. Literally none. It's perfect other than a few scratches on it's surface, and those are there because I'm a clumsy dumb dumb and let it fall behind my desk. It does still work perfectly despite my own lack of care.
If you're serious about approaching digital art, it is well beyond the investment and grabbing a Wacom tablet. The prices are steep admittedly and it is a bit scary to throw that sort of money at something when you're unsure of it's quality, but I can tell you now I would buy my tablet again at full price if this one were to break.
This is their cheapest model on the Amazon.com store at the moment, although the price is a bit scarier because it's in dollars and it's not on a sale, it does come bundled with ArtRage which I've heard good things about. It's worth a look and a think about. I hope my rambling in some way helps you decide what to do!
The art is pretty wonky, but pretty expected since you did it with a mouse yea? And the animation is legitimately very impressive! Some tips.
The art is it's biggest weakness so get one of these tablets it'll let you draw properly and that'll be a massive improvement.
Also, CtrlPaint has some great digital art tutorials. I can't wait to see what you do in the future.
http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-CTL490DW-Digital-Drawing-Graphics/dp/B010LHRFM2 If you want it just for osu!. It is 9 dollars more. But i think the tablet is good.
Thank you! This one seems to be popular, would it be a good one?
I've tried watercoloring before, but it's just not my cup of tea
Wacom is the best! But if it is your first a suggest buying an inexpensive one, because you need some practice to get used to it.But if you really want a Wacom buy this: http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-CTL490DW-Digital-Drawing-Graphics/dp/B010LHRFM2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1452455901&sr=8-4&keywords=drawing+tablet or the one I have: http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Intuos-Tablet-CTL480-Version/dp/B00EN27TCI/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1452456026&sr=8-5&keywords=wacom+intuos+pen buying expensive ones at this point is not a good idea, buy a cheap one learn how to use it and when you feel that you are at a point that you can make money with it invest in a Cintiq or an Intous pro.
I recommend this one. It's below budget, though you should grab one soon.
I ordered this tablet and it literally got delivered today. Can't exactly give you a review right now seeing as I haven't even used it yet but it's $70 and very compact.
Here is how big it is in relation to a piece of pizza. Its very lightweight and the buttons don't feel cheap. It feels like something that will be able to last a while. The pen on the pad feels like actually drawing on a piece of paper so once again, that's a plus. Another plus is that it comes with a drawing program. I'd take advantage of it but it came on a disk and I took out my disk drive because I didn't think it was still 1999.
Just don't get any of the cheaper ones like the Masterpiece or Masterpoint. I don't exactly remember the name but it was terrible. Gigantic and bulky, didn't really connect to my computer, the drivers were wonky. Also didn't work with Photoshop or Paint so keep that in mind if you're planning on using either of those programs.
Whatever you decide, just do a bit of research. Read the reviews and check out youtube to see if you like how it looks. So there ya go, the best shitty review I can do in 5 minutes. I'm going back to my pizza now.
I personally prefer paper but you might want to check out a Wacom tablet.
