There are stands with standard VESA mounts, it doesn't have to be a monitor arm. It's an extra cost, but an included stand being bad doesn't have to be a dealbreaker.
This is one I bought just because it was cheap and had rotation: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072QDMRS8/
I don't love that stand because you can't easily adjust height on the fly (you tighten the screw once you've got the height adjusted), which didn't play nice for me when swapping between landscape and portrait orientations. But if your monitor never moves once you have it in place then it's totally fine. Plenty of other VESA stand options, just giving you an example.
The monitor has VESA mounting holes, so just buy a new VESA-compatible stand, like this one.
Well, you should probably get IPS for the viewing angle. (I've got a TN and it's only viewable from a particular side.) VA might be acceptable as well.
There are some monitors that came with base stands that can flip into portrait mode. Some seem limited to rotating in only one direction.
It might be easier/cheaper just to get a monitor stand that can rotate. With that particular model, I'm guessing you'd need a monitor with a VESA mount relatively centered on the back (some are placed very low, some don't have them at all).
The arm monitor stands might be able to handle monitors with off-center VESA mount points, but I've never used one and can't be sure.
Word of warning, don't use clamp mounts with cheap Ikea or other tables/desks. They are hollow and filled a with a paper honeycomb. They break due to a clamp. The desk needs to be more solid than that (at least particle board, but double check that).
maybe something like this - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072QDMRS8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I was gonna recommend a 1440p monitor, but your GTX 1060 wouldn't handle it. Get this one https://www.walmart.com/ip/Refurbished-HP-X24i-23-8-LED-1920-x-1080-IPS-FHD-Gaming-Monitor-144Hz-Refresh-Rate-350-nits-1ms-Response-16-9-Anti-Glare-1000-1-Low-Blue-Light-Mode-H/303570856
and a height-adjustable stand if you want height adjustability.
Lmao I feel you on that stand. Got one of these since I don't have a mounting option for my current setup. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B072QDMRS8/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_MP8HXD45A5RC9Y22Q6VR?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
This was my recommendation as well... Here is an example: https://www.amazon.com/WALI-Standing-Monitor-Adjustable-Capacity/dp/B072QDMRS8/
that Samsung VA is garbage, and 1080p on that 27'' alienware doesn't look good.
Get this MSI G273QF and a height-adjustable stand.
If you have the budget and the hardware for a 240Hz 1440p IPS, here you go.
- The RMX 2018 850W is $2 more and it's a better PSU.
- Replace that 3700X with a 5800X.
- X570 boards are a waste of money, get the MSI MPG B550 GAMING EDGE WIFI.
- Those SSDs are overpriced. if you want a decent NVME 500GB SDD, get the WD SN550 or the kingston A2000. a 1TB SATA SSD costs around $80.
- I recommend getting a better monitor like the MSI G273QF + an aftermarket stand.
Those bases look super smalI. Personally I wouldn't use either one.
~~What about something with a bigger base, like this: https://www.amazon.com/WALI-Standing-Adjustable-Capacity-WL-MF001/dp/B072QDMRS8/~~
You could also use a gas spring mount like this one: https://www.amazon.com/WALI-Universal-Monitor-Adjustable-Capacity/dp/B01N1ZSPKO/
Edit: whoops, just saw you didn't like the diagonal legs. In that case I'd go with the gas spring mounts, but that's just me.
Presumably you would just need 1.
If you wanted to also pole mount the ultrawide as opposed to using it's default stand, try to get a direct-pole mount separately. ( type for vertical )
Edit: Essentially just the mounting point on this and put it under the dual-arm on the pole.

edit2: This but put them on the opposite way.
