This is a very interesting proposition. If you read War, by Sebastian Junger, one of the things he remarks on is frequently wanting to pick up a gun and aid the U.S. troops he's embedded with when they fight the Taliban. There are times when he is truly in so much danger that he wants a gun just to defend himself. The catch is that as a journalist, fighting is a big no-no. He could lose his journalistic license, as theoretically he is no longer "unbiased."
I think this could be a great moral dilemma for the player to face. Unfortunately I see it being all too easy for people to use the option to just fight their way through the game.
You know, it's hard to keep up with everything that's in the news, but I guess I had just swallowed the whole line about Pakistan being our ally. The truth is much more complicated than that, as I learned in a recent article in the New Yorker. I also just finished War, by Sebastian Junger. The author of War, if I understand him correctly, said at the end of the book that we are basically at war with Pakistan by proxy, with the Taliban as their stand-in.
